7/24 Day 22 - I hiked past Aloha Lake and Echo Lake finishing at Echo Chalet. I stopped in at Echo Chalet to pick up dehydrated meals, a That's It mint icecream sandwich and saw Scratch again. Her plans changed and she is going home due to a medical issue with her husband Don. We hitched together to the Mellow Mountain Hostle. We got checked in and left our bags in the room and then headed out to the Latina Azul to have town food. Afterwards, I went back and showered and then did laundry. In the evening, I went to do my resupply at Safeway by renting a Lime Scooter. It was a mile and a half ride each way. Of course I bought too much food, so I left some in the common room at the hostel and sent some snacks with Scratch for her plane ride home. We didn't get much sleep since she was on the phone with friends and doctors due to her husband's condition. It was a stressful situation. With help she had an ambulance called to take her husband to the hospital. In the early morning hours, she found out they had found a mass in his brain. 😪 I wish her a safe journey home and Don a positive outcome and speedy recovery.
