That hose that crossed over in your way is a vacuum hose to your brake booster. Without it connected you would loose your power brakes. Very important that it is not cracked/broken and is reconnected securely.
It is the same location as in the 4.7 liters engine in a dodge Durango 2006.If you are going to change this valve you may want also to change the EGR valve located right beside it. Be careful not to break the plastic connectors where the hoses are connected. If it is hard to get the hoses out then add some hot water (be careful not to burn yourself). use a pouring system so you pour little by little. The house will come right out very easily. Do the same for installing the hoses back.
I'm trying to replace mine and it's been incredibly hard to get to. Tried a few of my wrenches and 34mm socket and there just wasn't enough clearance. So I ordered a crowsfoot wrench which should get here in a few days. Hopefully it will do the job. Can't believe that they decided to put it in such an inconvenient location.
I have this same issue going on with my 2007 Jeep Commander 4.7L. The elbow that connects behind the engine, where you cannot see, has a metal clamp on the elbow that is broke off on the back of the engine. I'm trying to figure out how I can get the metal clamp off with very little space to work with.
My problem is the other end of the pcv hose. It’s a little elbow that plugs into the back of the motor. Can’t see it you have to go by touch and I can’t reach it. Anyone ever had to replace that
Yes! It took me 3 hours! Had to do it totally by feel. I found out later that you can actually lay the hood against the windshield, Wich I would have known about that at the time
Anthony Mark i ended up having to use a pair of these, the socket i bought was too short. m.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-Compound-Leverage-Self-Adjusting-Tongue-and-Groove-Pliers/999957733
Thanks for your help. I have a 4.7 liter in a 2006 Jeep Commander and I could not find a video with the same engine with jeep. All the other videos I found on RU-vid with PCV 2006, 4.7 and Jeep all the PCV are right by the oil spout. I believe your the only video with pcv 2006 4.7 location. Thanks for your post and reply.
Bryan Harricharan i couldnt find one tall enough at the parts store, i ended up using those colbalt channel locks (the ones that have a parallel opening)
