The intent for this video was good but the execution in showing the techniques used for the repair were nonexistent. Show us each step of the repair as it’s taking place please. We want to see your skills and with the magic of editing to cut time down for the upload. I don’t see why it can’t happen. Great job on the repair by the way!

I have a 2010 Challenger shaker hood. If like to send you some pictures for advice. I'm a DYI guy and have limited funds. So I'm trying to save this hood. The cost of a new one is just too much and I can't find one at the junk. Please let me know if I can send the pics.

Lots of knowledge giving in this video IF you listen to his explanation of his process. It’s obvious you have a lot PDR experience. This repair and info is really beneficial for seasoned techs. If you’re new to PDR, could be hard to follow or even useful because this is a complex repair on Aluminum.

Amazing job man. I'm a panel beater/painter (combo tech) at a high end shop. I worked a paper thin aluminum fender on a new BMW last week and it was DIFFICULT to deal with. It's nothing like steel. We have tens of thousands of dollars invested in the latest aluminum repair equipment in our "aluminum specific" work area and it still doesn't make it easy. It takes a touch. Truly an art. I'm 32 and looking to get into pdr soon and hopefully finish out my auto body career there. I feel I've hit a dead end in conventional paint and body. I can look around the shop and see my future in the old timers there. I see a better future for myself in pdr. I know I can do it with the proper training and practice. How long have you been at it? I've seen a lot of hacks that would've made a total mess out of that. What you just did there is amazing! That came out way better than I thought it could. And ABSOLUTELY cut and buff. Why the hell not? I appreciate and respect the pride you take in your work!

Thanks for the comments Jesse. I have been practicing the art of PDR for 21 years now. Always growing. It is good the hear from people, such as yourself, that have enough wisdom, experience, and respect to really understand what we do as pdr techs. There are a couple facilities that provide really great training that would be essential to starting your PDR career. Not all training programs are the same. I have my recommendation if you are interested.

@jcbenzo8679
@jcbenzo8679 5 лет назад
Thanks Andrew! I looked up Gateway and Mike's still at it. I'm definitely going to consider Gateway if I can afford it when I'm ready to make the plunge. It would be well worth it. I subscribed and watched most of your videos. Your quality is the level I hope to be on one day. I definitely trust and value your opinion. The company I was referring to in my last comment is DW. The appeal there is that they cover your tuition and carry you until you're producing work. The drawback is they take a HUGE percentage and they pretty much own you for a couple years. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here. My buddy does pretty well and seems to be happy working with them, but I would rather go with a company like gateway and have my independence. Either way, I really appreciate you taking the time to give me your input. Thank you! Hopefully I'll have a success story for you in a few years.

@INDEPENDENTDENTCOMPANY 6 лет назад
Thanks for the positive comment Emmett. Aluminum is difficult. I started with a ball tip and nylon cap to get the metal to start moving. Then dropped the cap for a bit. Finished the last third with a sharp tip. Aluminum responds more so with the use of sharp tip tools.

@INDEPENDENTDENTCOMPANY
@INDEPENDENTDENTCOMPANY 6 лет назад
The intent of this video was not to provide training but a "brief" insight on what repairs I am making and how I go about doing it. There are plenty of training videos on RU-vid, but in my opinion, you can not really grasp the technique and art of paintless dent removal without an extensive hands on training course. There are many opinions and styles on making a dent repair. None of which are right or wrong if the repair is successful. The foundation is of the most important to stay true to. The art of paintless dent removal is continually evolving for the better as we study and practice different techniques, methods, and tooling. I hope the best for all. Keep cranking.

I'm an Aussie...not a PDR guy...just an interested car guy. I own a '14 Holden Commodore (Chevy SS). They have aluminum bonnets (hoods) and are very hard to fix using PDR. I had a pockmark dent from an object that fell onto the car and it took a PDR technician two hours to fix by rubbing behind the mark and gentle glue pulling. Working with aluminium is soooo much harder than working with steel. The dent you show is, technically, much more difficult but the result you show is just phenomenally brilliant! Excellent work!
