No worries at all, what you’ve posted so far has been such a huge help so thank you! I wondered if I could pick your brain, I’m trying to do an image and have followed your video but for some reason when I click split outline, it says ‘the polygon to be split crosses itself. Edit the polygons so that the lines do not cross’ ahh ide what I’m doing wrong? Thank you

@@elainageorgiou1347 Thank you so much! No problem at all! So, it's just like the software is saying. There can't be any place where the lines that your creating cross over, It has to be one continuous outline. You just have to keep a mental note of the lines you're making and make sure you don't overlap them. Hope that makes some sense! Good luck

Brother needs you to build online videos which can be followed along by actually working on the screen of their own computer. What is given with the software is the small part in the book which you can follow along with. It would be great if these were in a handy book or something which would allow new users to get hands on with the instruction.🙂

Absolutely brilliant video. I learned a lot. Just one thing you missed (I think, but will check again) showing the finished dog in stitch view. Also wondered if you have some way of adding the appearance of fluffiness (fur) to the design?
@SewingMachines_UK
@SewingMachines_UK 7 месяцев назад
Thank you so much for your kind comments. I do show it briefly at 19:46 but I never actually stitched out that dog, as I already had a different one I had done earlier in the day. As for fluffiness, I actually have a great recommendation. Madeira Lana thread! To get what people call "brushed embroidery". In an ideal word you would use the Lana thread along with a Lana needle (both Madeira products). Stich out the blocks that you want to be furry and then you use a brass/suede brush or something similar to fuzz the thread, after it is stitched out. It really looks great. If you google "lana thread brushed embroidery" there are a couple of examples in 'images', but widely I can't find many online. I have done it a number of times myself, for a great effect.

Thanks for the wonderful videos. Can you make more videos where another type of design or logo is digitised and also explaining more expert sewing attribute functions how they could help to achieve a great embroidery result on fabric, thanks.

@@SewingMachines_UK great video, thank you! I've used PE design for years but never thought to use the split outline in that way! I agree with this comment, I'm really battling on what density and step pitch to use..... ie what do I use if I want it to look more smooth..... most of mine come out quite textured. I think upping the density helps..... but I don't want it too dense.... especially for patch backgrounds. BTW to avoid pulling I have my sections stitch directions going in all kinds of directions.
@SewingMachines_UK
@SewingMachines_UK Год назад
@@2009grumpybeans Hey! I'll cover that in a future video 100% with some real life stich examples of all the settings & their effect, I think I'd also like to see it, haha! You're right about patch backgrounds (it can get quite stiff on anything above 6 lines/mm). I also find the thread used has a big effect on the smoothness of the finish. We always use Madeira Rayon and it has a very smooth finish most often. You're right too, in the previous episode I briefly mentioned that I also like to use a variety of directions (if for no other reason but to have some visual variety) but for the sake of this video (and to keep things simple) I do find that 45 degrees is enough to combat pull on most fabrics because it goes against the grain of the fabric if hooped straight. This is all just anecdotal in fairness, but it always seems to work for me. Thank you for watching anyway, I'm hoping to get the next one out this week if possible!

I'm trying to do what you do but when I finish the outline it's just a blob. I don't have the see thru stitches like you do. Any ideas as to why?

You need to change to stitch view in the bottom right or in the 'view' tab at the top left. All the best!

WHAT IS THE PULL COMPENSATION .. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
@SewingMachines_UK
@SewingMachines_UK Год назад
I believe that I used a 0.5mm Pull compensation. What it does is account for the stretch of the fabric so that the blocks don't separate.

the polygon be split cross itself edit the polygon so that the lines dont cross ??? error
@SewingMachines_UK
@SewingMachines_UK Год назад
If you are getting an error when trying to split blocks it'll be because the shape you're creating has a part where the lines cross each other. You need to make sure that the lines you draw only make the outline of a new shape without crossing over its self.
