One of the best voices of his generation. Extremely underrated…. Miss this time in R&B music. Side note…..miss you, Raechel….everyday! Thanks, Angela for picking this.
Angela you have really moved up in class with this one... one of the greatest love songs ever recorded, Peabo's voice is masterful when it comes to love songs.
Peabo Bryson has a great voice, very smooth. Nice track, he did a good duet with Roberta Flack 'Tonight I celebrate my love'. I was sure you would like this Angela!-Colin Ward
Peabo showed that emotional conveyence is more important than some deep or complicated lyricism. He brought you to the depth of his lonliness and pain and makes you wonder why any woman couldn't stay with such an expressive, emotive man and that if she heard this song, surely she would reconsider. Pain cannot be translated into notes...just heard and felt. Your tears were a perfect applause.
Peabo Bryson's Voice is Generational ... Really he has so much Great Music, so many songs are not available on RU-vid, you look him up and you find the duets, which are great; but 8 Albums of Tear Dropping Music just Lost!!! He just came up when it was about Bands, and he was a Solo; then the Men Solo Leads took off and he got Lost between the James Ingrams, Luther Vandross, Freddie Jackson, Prince, Michael Jackson, Jeffrey Osboure, Tony Terry and ETC... He just got LOST....
When my band covered this song there were several people in the audience crying. Peabo Bryson's voice especially at the beginning of each verse does show the hurt in the lyrics.
This shouldve been a bigger hit on the pop charts then it was, stalling outside the top 40 I believe. I will admit to putting this song on recently when I've needed to just brood and sulk about a past relationship. Youre right Angela, it was about the delivery and the lyrics and Peabo nailed them both here. 👍
This song and Lisa Fisher’s “How Can I Ease The Pain” were on the radio around the same time. I consider those two songs to be complementary to each other.
he reminds me of jeffrey osbourne when music made you feel something not like music nowadays you should check out ltd where did we go wrong before osborne went solo i think you will enjoy that one great reactions angela my fav on youtube
You had me in tears along with you... Why do you have to be just like us..? So Romantic and Sensitive..?? God Bless your Heart & Soul. Love will find you some day. Send us an invitation to the wedding..!!
80s, 90s rnb ballads all have that same dreamy quality. You just float when you listen to them. At the right time, it hits you in the chest area (for want of a better description) . Has the same effectcon me even today , 30+ years after these songs first came out.
I used to work in a music store around this time and i was responsible for keeping track of record sales to report in to the local radio stations and Radio & Records magazine. R&R considered Peabo to be an AOR(adult oriented radio) artist even though my store considered him to be R&B. It confused the heck out of our corporate office. He didn't get a lot of airplay locally radiowise but the club DJs loved him. He was criminally underrated on "Mainstream Radio" until his duet with Celine Dion.
It’s weird to me that Straight Outta Compton was released years before this. But yet, I have never heard this but I know of N.W.A. This is a beautiful singer that nobody sadly will never know about. Makes you question?
Angela, i can see you getting emotional...prob becuz you e been thru sime heartbreak like all of us. But you are beautiful and hope you have a loveful life. I don't think loveful is a word...but I like it!
