God wants us to live in peace. It’s one of the most important things that you can live in. That’s also one reason why God sent His Son to die on the cross for us - to make peace with us. And so, you must be a son or daughter of peace. God has called us to live in peace. You must make peace your friend, because it’s for you.
Ephesians 6: 15
15 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the [a]firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness [b]produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.
We have the shoes of peace and must be ready to proclaim the gospel of peace.
Also, because we are called to peace, we must make peace with people in our life. And make peace with God where there might not be peace. There’s a deception in this world, where a person can live without this peace.
We must have peace about the cross we must bear; about situations in life that’s sometimes very very hard to swallow. Peace is important because while you might not understand why you are going through what you are going through, peace will guard your heart, and keep you together so that you won’t fall apart.
You must be in peace when you make a decision, and when there’s no peace then there’s a problem. You then have to find out why there isn’t peace. I don’t make a move until I have the peace of God, because I submit to the peace of God.
Sometimes God will allow things in your life to go in another way so that you can get your peace on the right place. Sometimes, He won’t change things until you get aligned with what is good and acceptable in His sight. People fight with God, but then they’re actually fighting against peace because God wants to give you peace, but you are in the way. Many times, God wants us to get this peace first, and then we can carry on from there. And so… We have to learn how to live with plenty and with lack.
Hebrews 12: 14
14 Continually pursue peace with everyone, and the sanctification without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.
As you transform and become more and more sanctified the peace of God will increase in your life. People have peace in some areas, but not necessary in all areas. In the inner healing ministry we see that a person can be strong and at peace in one area but in another area they might be angry, and in that part of their soul they cannot have peace. You are called to live in peace, not in pieces. Allow God to make you whole and receive His peace. Stay in the process, let God continue to make you whole and heal you and help you.
Peace must be in your household, and in your marriage. If there isn’t peace, things can’t be resolved because people will rather avoid talking about what they experience as a problem.
We must have peace about our future. You must know you are in the hand of God, and He is already in your tomorrow. His yesterday is my tomorrow. He can do anything; nothing is too hard for Him - if you meditate on these things, peace will come. The love of God will drive out all the fear, and the peace of God will be left over when all the fear is out. If you spend time with God, the Holy Spirit will produce peace in you. You don’t work for peace, peace happens to you because of Him in you.
In Greek peace means:
Prosperity; quietness and rest.
It’s interesting to see God says peace is prosperity. His Word does say “You will prosper as your soul prospers”. If you can’t get it in your soul first, then your outside can not prosper. But yes, when your soul prospers, you prosper. Healing can manifest because you are at rest.
3 John 2: 2
2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.
Matthew 5: 9
9 Blessed (enjoying [p]enviable happiness, [q]spiritually prosperous-[r]with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the makers and [s] maintainers of peace, for they shall be called the sons of God!
We are peace makers, not peacekeepers. A Peacekeeper is someone who avoids true peace by just patching and covering things up.
Matthew 5: 23 - 24
23 So if when you are offering your gift at the altar you there remember that your brother has any [grievance] against you,
24 Leave your gift at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother, and then come back and present your gift.
For God, the peace between your brother and sister, is much more important than your offering. When you know of someone who isn’t in peace with you, go make peace with that person. God wants us to live in peace with all people.
