this is what real history is like. what they teach before university at the average school just isnt that engaging. if you're lucky and get into a good high school, you may get a taste of a more dialogue-based teaching style if you meet an excellent teacher or teachers. you start with memorizing dates and end with reading books like the memoirs of Napoleons Valet or some other scandalous book lmao. Real history is always messy and the best accounts are full of humor, insight, and new perspectives you can apply.

RainbowFury well if you think about it. Everything he built was destroyed in a single day. Suffered 9 years while Snake was asleep. Lost 2 limbs. Finally ‘Snake’ comes to save him from the brink of death. He found out that ‘Snake’ is not the real Big Boss but a mother base soldier (AKA Venom Snake). The real Big Boss was already healthy enough to save Kaz way before his limbs were even severed from him. But seems like saving Kaz wasn’t even worth Big Boss’s time. So he sent a copy of him to save Kaz which also serves as a starter mission to see if Venom Snake is any good. Also out of no where, Ocelot comes into the picture and is apparently Snake’s best friend and not Kaz himself. I would be really angry if I were in his shoes lol

Breaks the immersion of the game really. The legendary hero (and killer for hire) Big Boss, fellating a communist one-hit wonder that was Che Guevara. For fucks sake, BB even gets a make over to look more like El Doctor.

Yeah, so? By the end of the day, Big Boss was a war-monger creating wars just so his Outer Heaven had a reason to exist. It doesn't really break the immersion of the game than appeal to a sense of irony. But I guess not.

Thats a non sequitur; there's no "appeal to irony", Kojima is just a Che fanboy and it is reflected through his characters. Hell, BB isn't even the big bad guy yet, he's protecting a pacifist nation from invasion and disarming nuclear weapons. There's nothing morally ambiguous about what MSF or BB is doing. It's jarring to see a legendary hero who saved the world (twice) and raised a private army that protects the defenseless to proceed to fellate a one-hit wonder like Che.

Costa Rica may have been officially neutral during the Cold War, but it had no problem funneling money to the United Fruit Company, which was a CIA front company, as well to other intelligence agencies. The MSF was, first and foremost, a place for soldiers to find use after their government tossed them aside like toys. The second was that as a PMC they could do what they pleased with their clients' permission because, not being a governmental group, they and their clientele could keep their hands clean. MSF doesn't protect the defenseless - it protects whoever pays it to. It is a mercenary company. In that it is *wholly* ambiguous. Che is mentioned because of his impact - positively and negatively - on military guerrilla tactics and for South American relations. You can say he's a one-hit wonder, but his tactics are responsible for the creation of the Green Berets - a group Big Boss was a part of before he moved to covert ops. You can call Kojima a Che fanboy but I see the broader subject. If anything, *I* find it jarring when kiddos throw around logical fallacies they don't actually understand. I was offering an answer to your comment about why BB was a Che fanboy, and of course you stuck up your nose and ignored it. No worries. I just happen to know more than you.

Yeah it’s a shame mgs5 tapes don’t nearly live up to the quality of the ones in peacewalker by being mainly just plot essential and not having anything that actually lets their characters shine through talking about non essential things

decoyoctopusra From what was said of the media testers that were able to play for like 16 hours that most of the game's dialogue is actually in the tapes rather than cut scenes.

I agree. I love keifers voice, though sometimes Hayters voice fit some scenes better, I think kiefer lands the role better.

It has nothing to do with effort, heck Hayter even vomited during the recording for this game because of the coughing he had to do after the torture sequence. It's the voice direction. And no, it's not understandable that you replace an iconic voice actor for some Hollywood shmuck who gives a flat, exasperated delivery for the 5 lines of dialogue he has in the game.

@@Alexander-nr5tt Exactly, Hayter was doing a deeper 'gravlier' voice for a much older Snake. I understand replacing him for Keifer if it was just from the perspective of getting a new voice for an even older Snake, but the actual justification for it was just dumb. Hayter absolutely didn't put less effort in.

It breaks my heart how much Kaz hated Big Boss after Phantom Pain. Also hurts how glad Kaz was when Solid Snake killed Big Boss in Metal Gear 2.
