They've recently announced a view where you can see the data from an Apple watch on your phone, like a big screen cycle computer. So that's a start. But no navigation, no bike-centric controls for other stuff...
@8:04 a very aserine comparison. the mobile tripod fits in my pocket; the bigger the tripod, like those big bulky gorillapods are, the less likely statistically that I will use them. I think these items' appeal really wooshed over your head but may be expected when being reviewed by a proper cameraman/photographer and make this a very unworthy review.
Perhaps that could have used a bit more explanation. I think few people would like a travel album or film where all tripod shots were taken at ground level. I don’t particularly love those small gorillapods, but they do allow you to fix the camera in a higher spot (less of an issue in urban environment with lots of flat surfaces). I do agree that nothing beats the convenience and portability of the mobile tripod though.
Great review overall, thanks for the helpful info! Also appreciate showing that you can stick multiple things on the back and things like the wallet and tripod to the wall mount! Haven't seen that advertised or reviewed anywhere and I've been wondering for days.
You're welcome! I can understand why they don't advertise sticking the phone with the wallet attached to the wall mount, because that doesn't hold all that well. The other combinations work very well, and I quite like having a dedicated place for my wallet.
Just found your channel because I just bought all the Peak Design Mobile EcoSystem so I wanted to see some real world usage of them and hands on experience!! Man this channel video quality and presentation is epic!! Easily quality on par with a million plus subscribers!! This channel will easily blow up! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the wonderful review. I too purchased the whole shebang. I was looking for more videos on the creator kit tripod mount itself which hasn’t been easy to find. Majority are on the mobile tripod only. I loved your idea of using the universal adapter and wall mount for an iPad. I have an mini I may try next to my desk to watch videos while using my PC. I enjoyed your review. You talk and presented at a nice speed and to clearly be able to hear your.
The tripod is the holy grail of mobile accessory. I bought the entire ecosystem because of it. The versatility is unmatched by anything else. The quality is worth the price too.
I got the motorcycle handlebar mount for my Honda Rebel 1100T, along with the Pixel 7 case, it works a treat! I'm really impressed with the quality and utility.
Thanks for your complete peak design ecosystem gadgets, it gave me a fair enough perspective, cause i was considering buying the case & bike mount… but also considering to buy a couple of extra items (which i’ll do). Saludos!
That was a very fine review of a product line that I’m familiar with. As the owner of their big Tech Pouch, I was an early supporter of the Mobile product line, and took their advice on starting with a simple $1 KS donation to lock in Kickstarter prices for the items. My like-new iPhone 13 mini arrived the same day as my Peak Design Everyday case, Slim Wallet and the Universal Adapter (for my old OtterBox iPhone case). And like you, I’m very satisfied!
I’m a big fan of PD as well because of their support. I bought a new phone last weekend, this review has convinced me to buy some of these PD mobile components.
Very good review, I’ll splash out when I’m back from holiday , mostly for my motorcycle, but some other things. I tell a lie perhaps all the stuff lol lol 😂, GL
"my wife is watching", that's why I'm scared of making a channel. - YOU BOUGHT A NEW THING!!!! - Nooooo! I had it for a while! Absolutely nice review, just discovered your channel with it, love it. Everytime I see the PD logo I think of the same thing, didn't they do some research before deciding on this name? Cause a lot of countries are speaking french. You're Belgian then? Love the fact you speak this perfect English, love your tone and storytelling.
Haha, the fear is real 😂 (though I have nothing to complain about TBH). Thanks for the kind words! Yes, Belgian (Dutch speaking) here, but decided to opt for English to have a shot at a larger audience. It does take a lot of mispronunciations and takes though, I could make a blooper reel after every video. 😅
@@BelgianHikers absolutely, that would be funny :-D To be honest I saw Belgian in the name and you started to speak English I truly was like "WOOOOOOOW!!!! HIS ENGLISH AND ACCENT IS PERFECT!" I wish I had the courage to do it cause I'm training my English for like 2 years by playing online games 😂. Plus your shooting is clean and warm, I really enjoyed the video. Edit : BTW I solved half the problem when buying tech : I only buy black stuff so she doesn't see the difference!
@@REMY.C. Somewhere on RU-vid, below a very different video, there's a comment by your wife/GF: "I only buy black dresses/shoes so he doesn't see the difference!" 😆
@@BelgianHikers 😂 my model is very special, I'm the one pushing her to buy and spend. - Look at this beautiful pair of jeans and this shirt. Buy, enjoy. - NOOOO! Then I secretly order and when it arrives - WHAT IS THAT? YOU SPENT MONEY???!!! - it's for you, just try. - I TOLD YOU I DON'T WANT! Then when she tries : - ouuhh I'm pretty! Thank you. - I know... I know... 😂 Every time! Even when I buy her tech or electric scooters or anything. She screams at me then the thing I bought becomes her favorite thing 🤣 It makes me laugh every single time!
I have seen many reviews that say, "When the phone is connected to the mount your map apps will not work". When disconnected from the mount they start working again. What's your experience?
I'm assuming you mean the charging car mount? I always use that with a wired connection these days, which works fine. I used it wirelessly for a short while when I bought it, but I don't remember having any issues with navigation. Haven't had much luck with wireless CarPlay, but that's a car problem, not a mounting issue.
Does the Creator Kit work with cold shoe mounts? I'm interested in using this for a ring light I use in Zoom calls and casting calls, but not having a cold shoe mount for my microphone would make it a hard sell.
You'd need a 1/4" to cold shoe adapter to mount the creator kit to a cold shoe (those come pretty cheap), but I'm not quite sure that's what you're asking? Do you want to attach the microphone to the phone?
Thanks for this great review. I just bought some of the gear and now waiting for it. I did include the out front bike mount and not the handle bar mount. I switch between my regular bike and my wife's fast e-bike so maybe that handle bar mount was a good thing to have included... I prefer a larger wallet, tried the lovely small Focx wallet but it was too small for the way I use it. Therefore, I do leave the Mobile tripod on my phone (I got that along with a case recently). Love the tripod as a versatile stand and on my iPhone 13 Pro, it's a great fit. Much better than on your 12 Mini. The wedge starts at almost the same thickness as the camera bump so it starts more subtle. The wedge shape makes it nice to hold the phone.
@@edewillswissenI havent'tried with my iPad pro yet, but I doubt it will hold the weight if iPad pro as it is almost twice the weight of iPad Mini and with the size of ipad proi think it is more likely to fall off with a little touch on the side
Can you actually use the tripod without the case, just with MagSafe alone? It states that on the website but I'm not sure how reliable it is especially with Pro Max's weight.
Just tested this and it works! It doesn't mount as firmly as it does with the case, but I wouldn't worry about the Pro Max falling off. Sticking it on the back of your phone in folded position feels a bit weird though, since there's nothing to align it.
Thanks! This was recorded with a Rode NTG4+, with moving blankets hung around me to dampen the room (just mentioning this since the blankets are cheap but make at least as much difference as the mic does).
I too subscribed to that kickstarter and got the whole kit. I really appreciated this review because these gizmos are really versatile. The motorcycle mount works super and as far as I can tell really sucks up the various shocks, bumps, vibes, etc. that can ruin a smartphone camera. I’m not going to rehash the video except to say that I too was riculously captivated by the ridiculous tripod. Peak makes a lot of cool things. I like hearing that it works well with their little gizmo that clamps around straps and holds things like cameras very securely. But sorry, campers, that was really in a different kick starter!
That's a 3F UL backpack. I'm not sure they make that exact one anymore, but if you Google 'ultralight XPAC backpack' you'll find a lot of similar packs.
Just ordered Samsung S22 and wanted to see a real life review by someone who actually uses these stuff in day to day use. Thank you for great review. I am still unsure about wallet, I am worried it might detach from phone case and I might lose it somewhere. Have it happened to you? How strong is the connection?
No worries about the wallet detaching too easily, they really did a great job tailoring the strength of the magnets for each application. It's actually fairly hard to get the wallet off without twisting it. So it won't come off, but I can pretty much guarantee that it will stick to every bit of metal in your pocket. Sometimes I've got to peel off two sets of keys and some loose change to get to my cards. 😂
@@BelgianHikers Lol :) You convinced me to try it out. So far I always had a big old fashioned wallet this will actually be my first slim wallet. Thank you and keep up with your good work!
@@BelgianHikers I do that as well but then I can't push the compartment down... There is room for improvement on that. I have the stand wallet. Do you know if the thinner one holds the same number of cards?
@@ArnaudFalchier Based on their website, they should both hold about 7 cards. I usually slide all the cards up when I want to get to the bills and then slide everything back down together. Works pretty well for me!
Well I’m back from holiday and I have bought the peak designs iPhone 12 Pro Max case , stand wallet and motorcycle mount, you were right the case was quite substantial on the front area forcing my screen saver to lift at the corners Did you come across a screen saver you can recommend that’s a better fit for this phone case , thanks for your time GL
Set out looking for someone to talk about the Peak Design mobile products to see what I should get for my new phone. In doing so, I stumbled on such a well-made video and subscribed before the video could end. I truly appreciate thos video and can't wait to see more of your videos and future ones to come!
Just found your channel after going out and buying the full kit myself, including the travel tripod! Thank you for putting together such a great presentation and your real world experience. New subscriber here !
Can you use the phone case with regular magnet mounts? E.g. I already have a magnetic car mount and just want a case that integrates the magnet, might want to use the slim wallet too
Hm, good question. Peak Design says it's compatible with MagSafe accessories and chargers. So if your regular magnet mount is compatible with iPhones, I'm guessing it will work.
That’s a fair take! I don’t own the Samsung version, so can’t compare. I don’t expect huge differences though, except perhaps wireless charging and stylus storage.
@@DominikLoeffler1I have this case on my Pixel 8 Pro and have had no issues with using Qi chargers or MagSafe accessories. I dunno about the universal adapter though.
@@BelgianHikers I have an iPhone 13 Pro and already received the Stand Case and the Out Front Bike Mount. I'm waiting on the Loop Case to arrive this Saturday (just shipped) before I open them. I also ordered the Charging Car Mount but it has yet to ship. Maybe I should get in to the youtube reviewing business! Definitely won't be as professional as yours.
@@dallasyoung Well there sure are upsides: whenever you feel like buying something you don't actually need, you can fool yourself into thinking you need it for RU-vid and that it'll pay for itself. Works for me! 😂
Great review! I've ordered the case for my Google pixel 6 pro, which will make it magsafe compatible. I get access both the peak design ecosystem, and the entire magsafe ecosystem, for my android phone! Best of 3 worlds.
Why would they not put an attachment hole on the back of everything? I have to take everything off just to put it on my car mount! That makes it easy to lose things or now you have to carry things in your pocket which could be avoided if they simply put a square on the back of everything.
Not sure I follow. You can attach the phone with wallet or tripod attached to the car mount magnetically. Won’t charge but that’s to be expected. If they wanted a more secure fit, those squares would have to be on the side of the tripod where the legs fold out and on the front of the wallet.
@@BelgianHikers Yeah you are correct... just wish I didn't have to remove the tripod every time but if the magnets hold it that is good, I didn't think it would. I will buy it and try it out.
Thanks for the tip about using the universal bar mount to attach a phone to a backpack strap. I just ordered the Peak Design case for my Google Pixel 6 Pro and was trying to figure out how to do that (get the mobile creator kit and modify it to attach to my backpack?) but I'll give the universal bar mount a go.
Yeah it’s probably one of the most universally useful items in the kit. I feel you could get by with that and the stand wallet en never need anything else.
@@BelgianHikers Hmmmm. I'm torn between the slim wallet and the stand wallet. I think I would normally carry the wallet separately from the phone to reduce bulk (stupid tiny women's pants pockets!), but having the option to use the wallet as a stand would be nice....
@@NaoNozawa Do you often watch video on your phone and prop it up against something? If so, it’s a great thing to have. Back pockets should work fine 😊
I so wanted this. Ordered it, and then saw farther down in the product description that due to the magnets in the case, it renders the S22 Ultra S-pen unusable. Had to cancel the order. 😢
@@BelgianHikers I think it must affect the s-pen sensor. They mention "S-Pen Compatibility Note: because case contains magnets, use of the Samsung S-Pen stylus accessory is not possible while your phone is in the case"
@@BelgianHikersI imagine as in »The pen will still draw and write, but it may not charge«. When I had the Galaxy Note9, I put it in one of those leather folio wallet cases and the magnetic clasp that holds the wallet closed would block the S Pen from charging, so I could still draw and write with it but the side button wouldn't work until I charged it again.
@@brianhaggerty1159 I've never been in a semi so can't speak from experience, but the car mount magnets feel pretty strong to me. If you're on the fence, this sounds like a perfect opportunity to use their 30-day returns policy to try it out.
We drive Jeeps off road and a magsafe mount is not strong enough with all the bouncing.. But want our phones topped up when we get to camp@@BelgianHikers
Hm, I don’t use screen protectors myself so hard to tell. If it’s one of those thicker versions and it comes right up to the edge of the glass then I can imagine it being difficult to put the case on. The fit is really quite snug.
I have a tempered glass screen protector on my 11 Pro Max and have no issues with it. I too purchased on Kickstarter. I also have many (too many, my husband would say 🤣) of PD's stuff.
I use this case and a Whitestone Dome wet tempered glass screen protector on my Pixel 8 Pro. I also used this case and a Spigen dry tempered glass screen protector on my iPhone 11 Pro. I've had no issues, though I had to take the case off so that the phone would fit in the holder frame that both Whitestone Dome and Spigen have you use to apply their screen protector.
