Each time we buy a new camera body, we all receive a manufacturers branded camera strap. Let's be honest, they're just a bit rubbish. So I say throw it away, because there are many better options out there. Better for carrying your camera, better for security of your camera and better for your neck and physiotherapy bills...
In this video, I talk about my preferred camera carrying set up, which combines the Three Legged Thing L Bracket and the Peak Design Slide strap. I think it's the perfect set up for me and it might give you some thoughts as well.
Hope you enjoy the silly opening and as this is an equipment video, I've left the blooper in for you... what is wrong with me???
If you’re interested in getting these items, I’ve put a link above to them. I’d earn a small commission on any you may buy, which is hugely appreciated as it helps me make more videos like this.

Thanks for the informative video. As an update to the QR11 "L" bracket. 3 Legged Thing now make a very customisable L bracket system called "Ellie". One of the variations has a Peak Design base plate incorporated into the base plate which makes it compatible with the Peak Design "Capture" system. The "L" bracket also addresses most of the access issues to the side camera ports and the battery compartment. It's a very versatile "L" bracket system with lots of options for configuration and even allows you to mount other accessories on it e.g. microphone, lights etc. Well worth looking at.

Thank you so much for making this video! I have the Peak Design Slide and LOVE it! I have been *looking* at the Three Legged Think L Bracket, but have been waiting. I went with the Manfrotto 323 quick release system because it was SOOOOO easy and SUPER secure! But...that has made vertical pictures a nightmare!!! Pretty much, I haven’t been able to take them. Trying to use my PD Slide was a challenge. Total pain! So....I’ve been looking into the L Bracket. This really gives me a better idea of things.Thanks again!!! 😁

Thanks a ton for this! I have the slide and was considering getting the Ellie PD version since i will be getting a capture clip too. This let me know that all 3 would work perfectly!

Thanks for the comments Dave. Really appreciate it. Good luck with the kit. It’ll be interesting to see if they find a way to combine both in future developments.

You can with the 3 Legged 'Ellie PD' L Bracket, which has a PD Plate built into the base of the L Bracket.

Your facial expressions and comedic narration in the intro reminded me a bit of Mr Bean, very enjoyable! Thanks for the "edutainment" : )

@@NeilShelbyLong Haha, I really did get a laugh. I guess I should have also mentioned that I am asking myself why I don't yet have an L bracket, having been a shooting pro for a few decades now. It makes total sense and luckily for me, I'll be buying a 3 Legged thing "Brian" tripod and they have a deal (through B&H anyway) to get an L bracket with purchase. And I agree, way too much seriousness entirely. Thanks again

Excellent video Neil , use the PD slide too , on mine those silicone or whatever they used for grip actually melted and ended up as a sticky substance , which was very annoying , wish 3 legged thing would make a custom L bracket for the sony A7 Cameras , i use non branded one on my older a7ii and i can tell you they do offer a lot of protection so an custom fitted one is essential , specially if anyone is as cumbersome as me
@NeilShelbyLong

Bulent Kontash thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it. That’s interesting about the silicon melting, have Peak Design said anything to you about why that happened? I’ll be honest, the L bracket on my D850 is a little bit of a compromise for access to the accessory port doors, but with the tool, it’s not too difficult to adjust or remove the upright if I’m keeping the camera horizontal. Thanks again 👍🏻

Bulent Kontash definitely get in touch with them. Even if they can’t help you this time, they’d probably appreciate the feedback for future design.

Very nice video! Thank you! The grip on my PD slide melted too, and I only had it for a year or so. Now everytime I'm about to use it I'm afraid of either getting my clothes dirty or my hair stuck to it :S

Thanks for dropping me a message, really nice of you. Clearly I haven't been anywhere hot enough yet to test the life on my PD slides, although I'm off to Florida next week, so maybe Miami will push it's limits... As you can see from the film, getting things stuck in my hair isn't something I often need to worry about ! :-D

Strap looks good, but boy its expensive for just a strap. Never really seen the point of the L-brackets, they just add bulk and make it difficult to access the camera ports underneath. If you've got a decent ball head they don't slip when you you go from landscape to portrait, well at least my acratech acratech doesn't.
@NeilShelbyLong

Hi John, thanks for the comments. Yes, the strap isn’t the cheapest, but I honestly haven’t used a better one in my time. Also, from the other comments, their customer service is excellent when needed. Fingers crossed, I haven’t needed them yet. I think with the L bracket, people either love them or can’t see a need for one, but you’re right, accessing the ports in portrait format is impossible on my camera if the L bracket is snug to the body. Cheers, Neil.

Hi mate. Can I ask you, what Nikon model you are using? and the lens please. Thanks and greetings from Down-Under.

Hi there. It’s a D850 and the lens is a 24-70 f2.8 vr 2 I think. It’s the one with the 82mm filter thread. Thanks for the message, much appreciated.

At last, a decent review of quality English made products, given by someone who speaks the Queens English, doesnt whoop and shout like the Yanks and has a sense of humour. Cheers mate.
