This will be perfect for weddings and other events. I have both heavy and light setups - a Z9 with 50mm 1.2 and Z6II with an 85mm 1.8. This mirrorless version is exactly what I need for my light combo. Thanks for the advice, Ben!
Thanks Greg! Yeah the PD it’s for sure a popular one among the vlog/RU-vid crowd, however the majority of wedding photographers I know use Spider gear 🕷 just depends what you’re using it for 💁♂️
Got all 3 carrier systems (Spider Light/Pro, Peak Design & COTTON CARRIER) Each serve a purpose for different shooting genres. I completely agree that the Spider Pro carrying two bodies with one on each hip is ideal for Weddings & Portraits where as the Peak Design with the capture not so much. I have the brand NEW Micro clutch i plate / L plate) and it is the perfect travel companion particularly for a lighter mirrorless body. BUT.... Nothing is more versatile as COTTON CARRIER'S system, I have 3 of their products (Harness / Skout / Sling Belt) With this system it is also a 'One Hand' operation and I found it a great alternative for shooting Weddings yet more ideal for portraits on location. They are the original pioneers of modern camera carrying systems and in a LOT of ways in my eyes still the best with their 'Hub' attachment. Personally the CC Skout and Sling Belt is perfectly suited to my landscape shooting, in particular during the warmer months of a HOT Aussie summer. Being a Queenslander that is 9 months of the year. Having the Skout (shoulder strap) is best for a light mirrorless and small prime or zoom yet I can attach at the hip a heftier body with medium zoom or telephoto for Wildlife scenerios using CC's 'Sling Belt' Sometimes carrying both a compact mirrorless via the Skout whilst a larger body such as my medium format 120mm FILM Mamiya 645 ProTL body using BOTH CC's chest harness and Sling Belt is a dream! Anyway just wanted to mention the third system as you didnt have it in there. It is an awesome carrying system, if not the VERY best in my 30 plus years experience shooting a broad range of genres / subjects. Mind you having ALL three systems is ideal for mixing things up a little BUT expensive to own all of each product's accessories yet worth EVERY dollar spent. I dont think my better half would agree though, she's still waiting for me to put a ring on it! What can I say? I LOVE my camera gear too! Yes I have a severe case of GAS (Gear Aquisition Syndrome) I just cannot help myself.
Is it possible to attach peak design plate with the spider holster? I see the new tether plate from spider and it seems like the size of the peak design plate.
Thanks for watching! I now use two of the Spider lights, though the newer one is a hard plastic rather than metal - just as tough, but a lot lighter and also cheaper 👌
What would be your advice on my use case? Shoulder camera bag for carrying lenses. DSLR (EOS4000D) SLR (EOS50E) I was thinking of getting a holster style system and have one of the camera bag and one one my belt. But I'm unsure if they'll be able to clamp down hard enough on the bag strap, seeing as it's totally unpadded other than the bit that sits on the shoulder.
Hey Himaro! I'd say you might want to try out the Peak Design clip on your bag strap, it does fasten pretty tight but you may get the bolts poking out on the inside - but you can always find some shorter bolts. Otherwise I'd say getting the pro pad to attach it to a belt may be the best way to go 🤓
I've had no issue with it at all! It could do if you over-tighten the screws as the can poke out the other side, depends how think your bag straps are - you could always add a bit more padding inside the clip 🙂
Depends on the camera. The screws are there for narrower camera bodies like Sony a7iii, but for a bigger DSLR etc you’ll want to remove the screws and keep them somewhere safe 🤓
Great comparison video, but what does slightly smaller than normal Allen key mean?Obviously the peak design key is imperial size being American made,ie not metric.Don’t buy a Harley Davidson whatever you do 😉
