Granite...in the Peak District? Nope..only some basalt known locally as toadstone. But lovely video. Captures the era so well.

I have the whole film on DVD, an utterly beguiling and lovely film of a long vanished England.

Great! Magnificent! Was married in High Peak registry office in 70's. Roads were still like that then. Robert Shaw - great narrator(and actor). Was the bad guy in 'From Russia with Love'. Remember him as William Tell on early 50's ITV

0.42 Monsail Dale viaduct - I dived off it in the early 90’s with a climbing rope tied around my waist and when I finished swinging my friend untied the other end and lowered me to the ground! (...and then we went on to the cafe at Grindleford station for pint mugs of tea!)

Took me a minute to make the connection. The narrator, Robert Shaw, beloved to me as Quint (Jaws), was a Brit? Who knew?! Gorgeous film, I heartily agree about the stunning colour.

I wondered if it was Robert Shaw ... yes, he was a great actor and narrator. What a fantastic piece of film though ~ loved it.

Worth watching for the 1950's Eastmancolor alone.
