Peak District - Bike & GoPro - High Peak Trail 

This is a rather large video of a great ride along the High Peak Trail on a glorious sunny day. I was armed with my GoPro Hero 3 Silver Edition and I managed to capture some of the highlights along the way. We started at the High Peak Junction and cycled to the northern end and then back. The best bit by far was the downhill section at the end from Middleton Top to the Cromford Canal... Enjoy :-)

Watching this video took me back. I spent most of my formative years mountain biking on, and around the high peak trail. Sheep pasture incline at the very start was always a killer, we never used to get off and push though. One time my friends front derailleur cable snapped at Cromford, so we fixed it in top chain ring and he just monstered all the way up - I've never seen anything like it! I doubt I'd make it up there these days, even with all my gears working. The last 25 years have not been so kind to me :-s Now the weather is picking up I think I'm gonna have a ride around on the old lead mine between Overton hall and Cocking tor, last few walks I've done up that way I've always thought it looked Ideal as an MTB playground. If your ever up for a mid-week hike or bike ride let me know man. I'm only over in Clay Cross and I can easily re-arrange my day off 'on the fly' so to speak. ATB. Tim o/

Great vid, bringing back many memories. Only gripe is camera angle a bit to focussed on surface of trail rather than glorious surroundings.

Thanks, hopefully it wasn't too long. I'll prob try and stick to 30mins max :-) I feel really lucky to live so close to the Peaks, it's a great part of the country

Looks a great Trail to ride Dean. I have stayed at Birchwood Farm Campsite quite a few times now and never knew this trail was there. Will have to give it a try in the summer. Thanks for posting a great video!

Ordinarily I would have had the helmet on all the time, it was too warm so I just put it on for the dangerous bits :-) It felt really quick going down the hill from Black Rocks, I wouldn't like to guess the exact speed but it felt quick, it was an exhilarating experience.

How long from start to finish and back again did it take you. Great video looks like an awesome ride

last time I rode this was 20 years ago Dean, great ride...once you get past the hills lol. the trail seems to have got narrow too!

Why do you put your helmets ok the front of your bike?!
