We try and meet up to do a huge ride in the Peak District around the time of the summer solstice.
The trails in the Dark Peak were dry, fast flowing and well, just perfect for mountain biking.
We started out in Hope and headed up to Wyn Hill. Descending over the northern side towards Ladybower. After dropping down through the woods we headed around the lake side and climbed up by Hagg farm. From there a fast rocky decent down to the cafe at Ladybower.
After an icecream and a water refill, we headed to the northern end of the reservoir and up and over Cut Gate. We didn't quite make it fully down to the bottom, but turned around and headed all the way back to the cafe.
From there it was one final big climb to take you to The Stash behind the Ladybower pub. And from there it was a fairly simple return to Hope.
Despite Dave getting a bit of heat exhaustion, we did nearly all of the planned 38 miles, finishing on 36 miles.
All in all, a perfect day on the bike with mates in a beautiful park of the country.
