It was my first visit to Rowsley Station, I would have liked to have gone round the yard but I needed to be on my way by midday to go north which I didn't make. (12.55) I departed.
The locos in this video are
Class 47 D1501
Class 44 D8
Class 69 69008
plus the DMU.

Wonderful footage and a wonderful gala Mike, what a lovely place wow! Stunning countryside and awsome lineside shots. Great seeing the DMU in spendid order and the Peak was too. Then to finish with more modern traction, a great looking 69008.Looks like you had a great time there, really enjoyed cheers Nick.

I have a soft spot for DMUs Nick, so If I can get one on film I will, I didn't have time to go with my mate to the other gala at Ecclesbourne which I have done a few times with him as I wanted to try a new location north of where I was. Then I needed to get to Barnsley to film a band I know so it was a very long day, left home at 04.45 and got back at 00.30. Thank you Nick for watching and you nice comment, Mike.

It is so nice that a class 44 got saved Bryan, as I was always working during the week I never got to see them working very much, but I did get to see all ten of them on depot visits, cheers for watching Mike.

Great stuff Mike. I lived for a few years on Greenaway Lane, Darley Dale, overlooking the line between Matlock and Rowsley. When I first started at Derby under BR there was a driver called 'Ginger Turner' who was approaching retirement even back then, and he had previously worked as a driver on the Cromford & High Peak line. We often chatted and he would recall the biblical snow drifts up on the moors that made that line so challenging. Oh, and what an engine the Peaks were. In my early days at Derby I asked as many old-hand drivers as I could "what's the best engine you've ever driven". All but one answered "Peaks".... 16:30 He left with reds on the front....lol we've all done it!

What a great story/comment that was mate, yes I remember when I collected coaching stock at Leicester around the rush hour there seamed to be a peak from London every fifteen minutes. I will certainly make another visit the the Peak Rail at Rowsley to have a walk around the yard. Cheers again for the comment Mike.

Excellent video Mike!! Have to say the line between Matlock and Rowsley is beautiful paid a little visit there in April last year around the same time!! That DMU made the event a steam gala haha! Some great lineside shots you got there also Mike and a good variety of traction for a small line like that!

All you have said Jacob I agree with you, it was a shame the class 25 wasn't well as I like that class. Cheers for your comment Mike.

Great so see one on the day Ben, just a shame it wasn't 011 which was first rumoured to be there. I would have liked to have stopped at the galas but you know me I like to get the most out of a day out. Cheers and we might chat later, Mike.

This is wonderful Mike, great to see all sorts for the Diesel Gala. A shame what happened to the DMU but great the volunteers got it fixed and in service. Gosh, almost forgotten about the few modified MK2 coaches with a rear window which acts like a cab?

Oh yes I do like to get a DMU on film Robert, as a passenger I liked to sit at the front with my son which made a nice change if you could see the line in front of us. Yes agree about having the class 44 running but the class 25 would have been nice, cheers Mike.

Hi Mike - a real enjoyable video of this gala day. My last visit was years ago when the guest loco was - in green 5016 Gordon Highlander. I recall standing on Matlock platform whilst the Deltic was waiting to do return trip to Rowsley. While standing next to it, my leg moved with the throb and power of the engine - pity I can’t move it like that today !! Awesome Got some super sound and sight on the Hi8 film that day. Fabulous - just like yours and the Peak, 47, DMU and GBRf 69. Credit to you Mike yours and the GBRf 69. Credit to you Mike

It’s a pretty line especially from Rowsley to Darley Dale, the DMU was chucking some smoke out, shame the 25 failed D8 sounds well.

Alaways good to see a Peak, especially one of the first 10 (44's). Shame you didn't have time to look around the yard. I've been a few times, but try to go when the Heritage Shunters Trust have thier open day, love the little shunters!
