Foggy and boggy, a fun combo! 😅 I drove through Buxton after the Macclesfield half marathon this weekend. The views over the tops were incredible. I'd love to go running up there at some point. Thanks for sharing these lovely trails.
Isn’t it just! 😂 It’s such a fun place to run, lots of varying terrain to keep you entertained. Hope the Macclesfield half went well for you and thank you 👍
Thank you David, the Peak District is such a great place with a perfect mixture of terrain and elevation. Really appreciate you taking time to watch and comment. All the best 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple I also appreciate when you put up on the screen the names of the peaks and highlights that you pass as well as the map and totals at the end. Thanks again.
@@davidw.pursley6474 Thank you, we try to make the routes informative for others to run. Same with the stats at the end, it can be a good comparison of differing routes 👍
Well I didn't expect that. That looks just what I prefer to run. Cheryl falling over at the start.....that's my trick 😂. Wished the actual race of this route wasn't the week right after Lakeland also. Will definitely do this run at some point though. Look forward to your review of the Fenix. I didn't get on with my old one and sent it back. The Cat and fiddle isn't a pub now sadly. I went in it one night about 10 years ago and it was awesome. You could get a bus up from Buxton if you wanted to and stay for a while and get the bus down. It's also a nice bimble to the top from the bottom. Lovely log fire and was something like it belonged in an 80's film. Now it's just a coffee shop which sells bottles of whisky and Ale bottles. It had the character ripped out of it 😢. Anyway thanks again for the upload. This is one of my favourite videos you've done as the Peak District is my favourite. Not a fan of the Lake District at the moment 😅
Same with us, would love to do the actual race though if I remember right, the route we did adds a little extra which is worthwhile. Shame about the Cat and Fiddle as we did consider stopping on the way home but decided getting home and showered was a better idea! I’m sure you’ll absolutely love the route when you get chance 👍
Really love watching your videos. Give me so many ideas of races to do. Booked the pennine-barrier-50 2024 from watching your video. When you guys do these long runs, like this one, 30 miles, how much water do you carry? As most of them are remote with no shops along the way to resupply. I know you had that cafe along the way on this one. But how do you stay hydrated? Thanks guys. Keep at it.
Hi and thank you very much, that’s lovely to hear! You’ll love the Pennine Barrier, it’s a challenging yet fun and friendly route. As for hydration, it can be a struggle. We set off with two 500ml soft flasks which can be enough for 6hrs in winter. We’ve also been known to carry a third flask if we know there’s no water to collect on route (bladders are an option). If there’s decent sources we have a Salomon filter which sits on top of a soft flask so supplies can be unlimited on wet days where there plenty of rivers, streams, tarns etc.
Never tried GTX shoes, all reviews seem to state that they’re not very good for trail running. If they help keep water out would they also help to keep it in? Wet feet isn’t an issue for us, luckily really as feet are usually wet within 10 minutes at this time of year anyway! During the depths of winter we occasionally use waterproof and thermal socks depending on the environment. Thanks Alan 👍
I have a pair of Saucony Peregrine 13 GTX for when it's wet. But the use case for them is narrow. Water will come in via the socks from large puddles, long grass etc and then they take forever to dry. Better to use a breathable shoe like a ParkClaw, Mudclaw or TrailFly that will dry really quickly.
@@niafer9444 have you ever used a gator? I got a pair of peregrine 12 gtx on last couple weeks and found them to be very good. For example,I did a 5 mile trail route on muddy paths, woodland and over a flooded field,my feet stayed dry. Am now thinking of using them for my first winter marathon.
@@alanrobinson2229 I only have a hiking gaiter - Rab Kangri GTX. I like the Peregrine shoes a lot. They offer a nice balance between cushion and stability and they fit my foot shape nicely.
