Two average trail runners doing above average things. Can usually be found somewhere on the fells and mountains... We use this channel to document our training runs, race recces and races. Our main aim is to always have fun and share our experiences with other like minded people.
Haha, it has its challenges! It’s such a great route though and I’m sure you’ll have a great time. All the best and fingers crossed for good weather. The views can really help at times!
@@danielstavesEnjoyable will be such a questionable word at times 😂 I think the biggest struggle for us was leaving the car (our self support point) for the third loop. Coming into Horton we both wondered how a third would go!! Please let us know how you get on 👍
Well at least they did manage to find the crux corner, but until then they were well off-route (too far left). This is not a good video to watch for anyone who doesn't already know the scramble.
For us it was all about scrambling up the corner and the pinnacle. Wasn’t sure if there was a correct way to get to them but that’s the way we went! It was in the middle of a run so wasn’t going to mess around too much anyway.
@@TrailRunningCouple Yes, there's a correct way in the sense that the established route (up the rocky ridge just left of the right-bounding gully) is almost all on clean rock well supplied with big holds and is a delight to follow, leading directly and satisfyingly to the crux corner and pinnacles.
Thank you. Would love to travel back to Scotland at some point. Only been to Ben Nevis once and did it via the CMD Arête (another video). Lovely route 👍
Hi and thank you! Yes, you would need to pre book to guarantee a spot. Not sure of the exact prices and they would change due to season. In any case with it being National Trust they’re very competitive and the camp site is really good 👍
Wow, fantastic! What a stunning scenery, and great video ! Thnx for sharing ! What kinda jackets do you have ? (brand, waterproof etc) And what is that thing on your backpack ? Regards, Roy (the Netherlands)
Thank you, it’s a great route. Here’s a link to the route we did from Dropbox - www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lnksqc9qa4gopf2b8c6ce/29mi-23-Before-Tea-v2.gpx?rlkey=9uqbki8bqxnmdfp5deqdrkktl&dl=0
Sorry, just realised I forgot to share a link to the route we did! www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/gb703o8in38pwonapggel/13.4mi-Coledale-Horseshoe-Extended.gpx?rlkey=bv9pqys6t27yyajfuc754u6n6&dl=0
Great video again. I have a 3 year old Border Collie called Woody who is my running partner. Hes great off lead but I do have to put him on around big livestock. I was recommended None Stop Dog Wear Harness and never looked back you will find it much easier to control him down hill with one........BTW you will never tire a collie out fully, but they are the best dogs. Enjoy and thanks for the videos
Thanks Simon. We’ve definitely come to the conclusion that we tire before he does. He seems to lag then after a rest and water he’s off again. Same after the run - he’s still very lively! Brilliant breed of dog and one we wouldn’t be without now 👍
Another delightful video thank you. I'm amazed that Marley is running so well with you after only a week - ok, there's more training to do to make sue he doesn't pull you off your feet downhill (it looks scary!!) , but even as things are he is very good.
He’s brilliant. Very clever too. Agreed with the downhill pulling though, he’s just too quick. We’re going to start with some more basic commands which in turn will bring even more enjoyment for all of us. Thank you ☺️
That was great! Running downhill with Marley and filming at the same time! Quite a talent. Marley is a fast one. He is doing great with you guys and he is so fortunate to have you both as his family. The weather was nicer today I think, not so hot. I agree with Cheryl it's a bit scary running downhill with a dog pulling you. Slow down and tug on the leash and give a command to "slow" or whatever command you want to use. He will learn not to pull you going downhill. Good luck with the training. You're doing great.
He’s too fast on the downs. Could be dangerous to be fair but the kid in me just found it funny 🤣 We’ll start on more basic commands as it’ll help us all enjoy our outings even more. He’s such a brilliant dog and I think will thrive doing what we do. Love him to bits!! Thanks 😊
Bet marley loved it dogs love getting out there enjoying themselves. Don't half miss jock lost him last Monday looking forward to seeing many more videos of you three
Great choice of dog and a good fistance to try him out. We rescued a collie and run him in the Cheviots. Nonstopdogwear harness is good if you start getting a bad back. Paw butter ain't a bad idea if he gets sore paws.
Great loop, guys, absolutely terrifies me when dogs are attached to people... please please spend the time training the dog to just run to heel much better for all.... harnesses are made to pull sleads so makes pulling people easy. Both my gun dogs run with me on the mountains.
Totally agree. We’ve only had Marley for a week and this was his first outing in the Lakes. Wanted to gauge what he can do but we’ll absolutely be focusing on training and commands. It’ll make life better for all of us. Thanks 😊
@@TrailRunningCouple awesome guys, ace having them in the hills with you, you'll start planning routes where you know there's high level tarns bogs and streams lol
Congratulations on Marley joining the team, always amazes me how much energy and enthusiasm dogs have when on the hills . He will give your outings a new dynamic for sure, great idea , hope you have many wonderful adventures together .
Beautiful day, lucky Marley. My dog pulls in all directions, after grouse, makes it twice as hard. Patsy(nearly nine)the Patterdale terrier, can run twice as many miles as me,without getting tired.
Thank you Alan. Marley just shoots off on the downhills which really does make it difficult as you’re constantly trying your brake whilst being pulled. Kills the quads!! Even after the past two days and 3 short walks this evening and Marley still has energy. We’re definitely in trouble 😂
I laughed out loud at Marley pulling Gary down the hill! (Sorry!) But omg that is one lucky dog!!! What an absolutely perfect placement by the doggy trust. I am so pleased for you both and for him.
Thanks Lizzie, he’s so quick, especially downhill. We need to work on a few commands 😂 I think the Dogs Trust got this one perfectly right. Such a great match 😊
Oh my GOSH!! You got a dog! What a perfect dog for you and a perfect age. And isn't he a beauty and what a good boy!! I'm so happy for you guys. He completes you. Now you are a happy running threesome! Your channel was a 10 out of 10 before and now with Marley its a 15 out of 10! Well done! LOL. The pulling down the hill makes me laugh. Just wait until he pulls you uphill. That is the good part. Can't wait for more Marley running videos! Beautiful day out too.
Yes, finally we have a dog!! Quite quick too. We filled out an application a couple of weeks ago with the dogs trust and they promptly matched us with Marley. Great timing too as he had only been with them for two weeks. Can’t believe our luck with him, he’s perfect. Such a lovable dog with a great personality. Thank you ☺️
Thanks Darren. He’s definitely changed our lives and running. Certainly an extra dimension of fun and less about numbers. Best thing we’ve done getting him 😊
One of my favourite vids that. Well done to both again and nice silver plate for 3rd place. I laughed at the girl at the biggining trying to get signal on her watch. I watched that 5 times as i do something similar 🤣. The views are epic especially on Leg 4. I just had no idea and it made me a bit numb as many years ago i spent 6 years traveling to and from Shrewsbury. However i wasn't a runner back then else i would have discovered those hills for myself. Good to see Richard at the end also. Done lots of Beyond races in the past. Will need to add this race to the bucket list now as i want to cut down next year on the expensive 100's.
Hi Andy, probably right up your street this one. Whilst the hills aren’t exactly mountains they’re tough and testing enough for a route of that distance. Really enjoyed it, especially the free format. Great day out if not a little warm at times 🥵
Aww, this was fantastic, Shropshire hills are fantastic and that looked like a really good event,I love the idea of the loops and the choice of direction you can run I went up to Shropshire hills for my birthday last August with my friend who'd never visited before ( the one who insisted Yorkshire tea is smuggled by donkeys with panniers out of Yorkshire to keep tea Field locations secret ) he keeps asking when were going to go back, a lot of people don't realise how beautiful the area is and have never visited . Church stretton is a good base if people want to stay for a few days as you can do endless hill adventures from there as your base Well done for another great video 👍
It was a first for us in the area and now have many reasons to return. We stayed in a lovely self contained flat in Church Stretton on Friday evening, just a mile from the start which really helped considering the early start of the race (6am). On reflection it was a great idea to get a few miles out of the way before it really warmed up. Your tea story really is funny 😂
Youve definitely captured both the challenge and the beauty of running in the Shropshire Hills here. This race was hard! It was lovely to meet you both in person having enjoyed many of your adventures on RU-vid, and a pleasure to share a little of the Conquest route with you. Look forward to seeing what you get up to next :)
Hi and thank you! We lacked knowledge of the area so just went with the GPX files that were provided in the direction they came. Others did opt for the alternatives but couldn’t say for sure if either would have been preferred. Probably both as tough as each other!
Well done guys you are phenomenal, was wonderful to see the snowy landscapes thank you! One race I swore I was going to burn all my running kit afterwards, so I did sympathise with Cheryl ... might have laughed a bit too! Henceforth if I have a bad spell and need to vent I'll let myself have a "Cheryl moment" and that should make it better :)
Haha, that was a tough day out in the snow. Very challenging. It’s a decent event made harder with the lack of aid stations but considering the area there’s not much that can be done about that. It kind of brings out ‘Cheryl moments’ in you!! 😂
