Actually, this was one of your more informative videos in a while!! I remember the first time she went missing. You were freaked out pretty bad. I think it's great that you bought this and showed others a great product. Scratches for Peanut!!
A good friend of mine had one of those Roman dogs too. He lived in the country, as do I, but not that far in the country. If you drew a 2 mile radius around his house, I suppose there must of been 50 houses in the circle. I warned him of the dangers, he scoffed, and laughed, and said, "Especially whoever owns the turkeys will be out to get him". Turns out that on three previous occasions the dog had drug home a white turkey. "He's as good as dead then, if you continue to let him run," I said. Sure enough, within two weeks of me saying that, he finds his dog half dead, dying on his porch, with a .22 hole in him. The vets tried for a couple of days to save him, but after a couple thousand dollars worth, the dog died anyway. My friend's reply was, "I figured out who the fucker who owns the turkeys is . . .". Like that guy didn't have the right to own livestock on his own property, or defend them, if that's even really who shot. I live further in the country than he did, there's probably only 20 houses within 2 miles of me. I have 20 acres here, fifteen chickens , two calves, a dog that chickens can roost on - who gets in trouble for roaming, so doesn't any more, and a horse. In the last year, I lost two chicken one day, one about a month later, and not too long ago eight all at once, all to stray dogs. I also saw two dogs chase my horse through a barbed wire fence and it cut him up badly - I wasn't armed quick enough that day, but I'll be ready next time. I didn't have the calves yet then, but now I do. I love dogs as much as anybody, I've had one or more my whole life , but I love my own animals more than I love stray dogs trespassing. I haven't shot any stray dogs yet, but I'm loaded and ready, with a few firearms stashed in various handy places. I hope the one I'll get one of these days is one of the ones who chased my horse, or killed my chickens. Odds are it will be, there aren't that many people who let their dogs run off like that, for long anyway, successfully. So If I don't get it right first try, I'll get them next time. I will guarantee that any dog that dies here will have belonged to someone with no regards for my livestock or property, and not enough for his own dog to keep it home safe on their own property.
You can make a E-fence with used parts or buy a used E-collar and train Peanut to only go so far away from you. If something happens to Peanut and if she runs away the chances are it will one day happen.
We have invisible fence brand dog fence. They make one for huge properties like yours using geofence satellite technology.. when they get close to the zone edge the doggie gets a tone, crosses the line the dog gets a "correction" (shock). Ours uses an underground wire on our smaller lot. Of you really love your pup you would keep her safe and off the roads. GPS is no good if it gets hit on the highway. For you dog folks who say a shock is cruel...our dog got a total of 3 shocks in 3 years, the first 2 were during the 2 week training period (part of the process) the other time he chased a ball... But now the dog can go out without the collar and will not go near the property edge. Anyhow, best $1500 we have every spent and we know our doggie is safe on our property.
Hey, I work for Whistle. We have a newer more sturdy collar attachment, if you want one free of charge. Send me a message and we’ll work something out. I’ll get one shipped to you.
I don't understand how you allow your dog to just run through streets and go miles wherever she wants. Until she gets hit by a car it wont matter to you. That's nerve wrecking
