Always loved this guys playing. Nothing to fancy, just completely solid drumming. Plays what fits the music, and nothing more. His leg conditioning is phenomenal as well.
I have been fan of Amon Amarth's since I was 16 ( 26 now) and I have seen them at least 5 times live and although Wallgren is solid, he is not at the level of Fredrick. His touch, precission and capacity to read the other members live was crazy. Such a shame they kick him out for selfish reasons. Drummer legend Fredrick Andersson ! \m/
When they booted him their decline began. They have never been the same without him. He had a lot of writing credits and is a much better drummer then the current one
Laurent SiMon's - well, pretty sure Metallica played some big shows in Sweden during the Master of Puppets tour... lol!! All joking aside, James Hetfield is all of 12 years older than Frederick is.
Wish I had his accuracy and consistency with double bass drumming, that ride bell groove in the chorus always throws off my feet and hands...back to practicing!
Yeah, just a matter of gaining more seperation in your limbs, all comes through more practice! Don't know I've tried playing this one yet...curious if I could! Any update since August for you though! Always the best feeling when you finally nail a beat after a while of practicing! Hope it's gettin' better for ya! Cheers eh!
Anytime a band, for whatever reason, loses an orignal or long-serving member, the band is never the same. That definately applies here. It's my understanding he didn't want to leave, so bad call Amon Amarth.
@tigrisnakkana Yeah man, those are the MB20s. His second pair are the Byzance Darks which would look really different from those shiny MB20s. The byzance hats were probably just for studio use, never seen him use them live.
He was what clive was for Iron Maiden. Definitely a unique and heavier sound. And although yes the drummers after have been good, but definitely not the same
***** Really bummed, a lot of these 90's era bands that enjoyed success in the early and mid 2000's are either breaking up or losing members left and right in the black, death, viking and folk metal scene. Pretty sure Kai Hahto will leave Wintersun here in the next year after they tour festival season in Europe again since Nightwish seems to be his fulltime gig now, he already left Swallow the Sun. Fucking depressing to see it happen to a lot of bands I love so much, but I guess it's better to call it quits then to just fade into obscurity or whatever...
Daniel Armstrong Kai Hahto isn't leaving Wintersun. He's a good buddy of mine. Wintersun isn't doing much at all these days. He hasn't left Swallow the Sun either. He said it himself. He's only filling in for Nightwish so their drummer can recover from his insomnia.
Yeah, I know he didn't formally resign or leave, but his parting message more or less said that he was done writing, touring and playing with them for the foreseeable future and letting Juuso take the drums. Last I read about the drummer of Nightwish is that he personally doesn't count on returning to the band for 2-3 years as was quoted from an April 2015 edition of Metalhammer. 2-3 years is a long time, but yeah, I guess nothing is set in stone. I'm just not banking on Wintersun ever getting back to being an active band or him ever returning to Swallow the Sun. Just my personal opinions, you could be completely right. I personally don't like nightwish whatsoever, I think his drumming style and writing skills really flourish in Wintersun and Swallow the Sun.
@Coolidge Owens I mean, they are a totally different band from how they were a few years ago. The music is so average and by the numbers now it's boring
