I saw the YEILD tour in Seattle memorial stadium.. saw Soundgarden at the exact same place with Screaming Trees opening during Superunkown 2nd North American leg.. after Cornell recouped from throat surgery

Just saw PJ for the 30th time at the forum in LA. It's been 32 years since first show yet each time feels like the first because the energy is insane. I was 30 yrs old my first show and now 62 but I'm forever young blasting my favorite band that's showing no signs of slowing down. That keeps me alive 😊❤️

After all this time... From discovering Pearl Jam in the mid-90s to the realization that JA is a Montana local to now.... I've always appreciated that PJ is honest and loyal to their roots AND values. One of the best Pearl Jam factors is the HOME shows where they play Montana. People usually discount our state, but they put us front & center. They play the local shows, support MT politicians and actions, build up the community, and make it truly a live effort when others don't seem to go beyond the BIG places that bring in $$$. They honestly take their values to their word, as if Pearl Jam is almost a secondary to their causes/homes/places. Yeah most Montanans can tell some Jeff story, but the fact that we don't have to shows that above all they're not FAMOUS first; they're famous second/third/fourth. Honestly I believe that is what makes us unique; Montana owns you. You give us respect? We'll show up for you in ways that aren't famous - we won't ask for autographs or let people hound you; we won't discount because you're Pearl Jam but will because it's on sale anyway; we include not exclude or use. Because PJ remains grounded through the decades, it's not a see a name on a CC and social "So& So is here!!" instantly situation. It's a real, down home, life-living calmness that could only be achieved by them being so grounded and human in their philosophy/existence. For all those reasons, and more, Montana OWNS our love of Pearl Jam in a quiet appreciation and an understanding of the philosophy that they are only people who happened upon the right time and place - but damnit pitch up your socks mentality. So you can analyse and study and pick apart, but us here in The 406? We're the army behind them and you don't want to mess around with us. Side note? When my 11 & 8 year olds listen and dance like no one is watching (when I obviously am) to PJ and I can throw in a "Oh yeah. Jeff and his wife shopped Mom's store and utilized our design services from Miss Kate." moment? It reminds me that them being a 4th Gen Montanan is EVERYTHING. Thanks for keeping the local vein alive throughout the generations.

Pearl Jam is probably the most prophetic band since maybe Pink Floyd, or even the Beatles in their later years, to draw me into a worldview that doesn't make me want to scream every day. Their live shows, especially if you're as big a fan as I am, are like religious celebrations mixed with an utter release of all your hung up emotions! They're genuinely nice people, too. They always project a feeling of calm, charity, and generosity. Their music has matured as they have and their message, though sometimes political, is one of inspiration to be better than we are. I hope they never stop inspiring and entertaining us.

Kiwi Koopa I’ve always liked that about him, musicians who are very eloquent when they speak sometimes feel like they’re performing even when they’re talking but with Eddie you know he’s just saying the truth
@Bradford659

Kiwi Koopa Some songwriters find it easier to communicate through songs than having a conversation with someone. I don’t know how you feel about the band Biffy Clyro but their singer found it easier to communicate depression through songs than talking about it.

PJ were rock gods in the early 90s, but the limelight turned Eddie into a huge prick and control freak. Their music has sucked since '94 when they unceremoniously fired their amazing drummer and began playing Neil Young songs. Who cares what they have to say now? They exist now only as a cautionary tale of what NOT to do once you achieve success.
