That line gets me every time, and made me realize Ed and company were still genuine. The entire album helped reinforce that being honest with myself and others was the best way to go about life.
The sudden awareness on Jeff's face after the verse that ends with "I wish I was the verb 'to trust' and never let you down," makes me feel he's hearing that lyric for the 1st time. That one hits me every time.
I often listen to this song when I go yo bed. Eddie is so cute. Hardly opens his lips, though his voice is so moving. Jeff looks to him with kid's eyes .
@@colbey79 thanks for the insight Tom. The original post said Pearl Jam was not appreciated by the mainstream. I just pointed out that Ten & Vs. were very mainstream in their day.
This was a very critical coming of age time for me when Yield hit. I was graduating and I first saw PJ at Fiddler's Green in Denver. We were way up and the guy next to us was like "that's not f*cking Jack Irons, man!" I'll never forget it. The album defined life and confirmed some of the way I saw how things actually were. Plus, it was full of bangers. And I've enjoyed all the albums.
Always loved how Mike turns (I assume towards Eddie) as he turns the volume knob at the end of the solo, mimicking a violin bow's sweep rather than a guitar pick. I'm guessing demonstrating to Eddie that he didn't think he should bother using the Ebow. And never got why this song fades out on the album, it's such a beautiful outro.
I think that the album ending and the outro have a contradiction. "I wish I was a radio song the one that you turned up" (and in the album, it turns down). "I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish I guess it never stops" (the song ends.) So I think it was done on purpose.
Great song and a remarkably shot and produced video. For any fellow children of the 80s, this video somewhat reminds me of the “I Melt with You” video from Modern English minus the dancers in that shoot.
Love this entire Album... Given to fly probably with release, the best songs of PJ. This full album is a master piece. Far better than ten, vs, vitalogy, no code, lost dog...
Hermosa canción. Mejor versión que la del disco. Alguien puede decirme la letra sel último verso? Cuando canta "... I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish..." por favor, gracias
I wish I was a neutron bomb for once I could go off I wish I was a sacrifice but somehow still lived on I wish I was a sentimental ornament you hung on The Christmas tree I wish I was the star that went on top I wish I was the evidence I wish I was the grounds For fifty million hands upraised and open toward the sky I wish I was a sailor with someone who waited for me I wish I was as fortunate as fortunate as me I wish I was a messenger and all the news was good I wish I was the full moon shining off a Camaro's hood I wish I was an alien at home behind the sun I wish I was the souvenir you kept your house key on I wish I was the pedal brake that you depended on I wish I was the verb 'to trust' and never let you down I wish I was a radio song, the one that you turned up
Can't believe how young they look, can't believe how long ago high school was. They were barely older than me but back then I thought they were from a different generation.
Thanks for uploading! If you have a minute, we tried our hand at a cover of Van Halen. As fellow music fans, we'd love if you'd check it out. It's on our channel. Don't be too tough on us :)
