The bit where Bill said "Imagine someone doing this to you" which made the Doctor stop wiping her mind reminded me so much of Donna. It literally broke me.
I think he did - he knows Clara existed, he just doesn't remember the details about her. Plus, they played Clara's theme in that scene, so it was definitely more about Clara than Donna.
I Z, in the written script for Hell Bent, it explicitly mentions that the Doctor remembers who Clara is when he sees the mural of her on the TARDIS. We were supposed to get that from his expression upon seeing it, but I suppose that was lost on most viewers.
Blue Sparx I think the idea is that he knows what she looks like now and he pieced together a few of there adventures yet he will never remember her in them
I quite enjoyed it. Back to basics, no overly complicated story arc, and a companion I actually quite like. Bill is shaping up as someone who is a bit more relatable compared to Clara or Amy, and I am quite happy. It was a nice straightforward story, and it had some genuinely creepy moments. Bill is great, good job, Pearl Mackie, you hit it right off the bat.
LOOOOOOOVED it! That was the doctor I soo missed!! I missed him for being away so long, and I missed him for being happy to show all of the universe to an excited Bill!!
Am I the only one who thinks this channel should post full episodes? This is the OFFICIAL Doctor Who channel. They can't get copyright strikes from themselves.
I have never commented on a Doctor Who video, but that was phenomenal. I am in utter shock, Capaldi, Bill and Nardole have the best chemistry and it was full of shocks and I love it!
Am I the only one who noticed Clara's theme playing while Bill was telling the Doctor about the memory wipe?!?! I really hope the Doctor remembers her and she can come back to comfort the Doctor as he regenerates... PLEASE MOFFAT!!!
I'll admit that The Pilot may have made me cry... Just maybe. I've been waiting for this so long, and it's so truly amazing to start yet another new adventure in the TARDIS. Here's to many more!
absolutely loved the episode. one of the best opening episodes ever, in my opinion. Bill surpassed my wildest expectations. She's just the right mix of inquisitive and funny and asks all the right questions but in ways we haven't seen before. Can't wait to see more of her! Also, loved the Fan Show discussion! gonna look forward to it every week! really interesting to gather some behind-the-scenes knowledge. I need the lava lamp and the promo poster!
My twin brothers, Leo and Oliver, celebrated their ninth birthday today - and this was a lovely present from Doctor Who to them. One of them, Oliver, who is really into the show and particularly loves Colin Baker and Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, went to check the bath was fully run out after the episode, in case any monsters came up through the drains...Pearl was ace as Bill, the character is developing nicely and Peter Capaldi utterly embodies the Doctor, he's such a wonderful ambassador for the childhood hero that he grew up loving for fifty years and then became, there's surely no finer success story than that. The Pilot seems to have gone down really well indeed.
Oh wow... I.. Am speechless after watching The Pilot. Pearl Mackie is such a great actress!! The Doctor was amazing in this episode and so was nardole!! And OH MY GOD JOHN SIMM IN THE NEXT TIME TRAILERRRR!!!
who else litruly shouted at the TV when Bill wanted to join her crush. I was like, "noooo!!!!! don't do it. BILL IMMA WARNING YOU NOW!!!!!" Such an amazing episode by the way. I've fallen In love with nardole and his one liners!!
Honestly, brilliant. Well done all, especially Pearl, for making me instantly care about Bill. Well done Steven, for an excellent episode. Thought you were going Waters of Mars for a bit. Really looking forward to seeing the traces of my childhood's Doctors, and running with you all this season.
I enjoyed this episode and it looks like a sign of good things to come. It serves as a excellent introduction into to Doctor who but it also had references which long term fans would understand.
The Pilot was so cool. Really felt like a soft reboot of the series. Bill was delightful and touching at times. Nardole is fun comic relief. Was scary at times, and Daleks! Peter is amazing as always, overall one of the best series premieres to date. Well done, and sets up a very exciting season.
"One day I'll learn how to do this show" - Steven Moffat 2017. As for the episode, I loved it! Can't wait for the rest of the series and for Capaldi to go out with a bang!
The interview was fantastic from beginning to end plus the bonus footage of all fan media in all its art forms the video art of Peter Capaldi was terrific especially him in the opening credits from Doctor Who (1973) cannot wait for it to be on DVD because Series 10 looks to be epic :D
Awesome episode the sad ones are always good (lump in the throat) Awwrrr😢 the doctor went back in time to get Bill some photographs of her mum because she couldn't remember her and didn't have any (that's why bill saw him in the mirror, taking the photo of her mum)
I missed the first episode being aired but I've just watched it on iPlayer and I absolutely loved it. Nardole is going to end up one of my favourite characters by the end of the series and bill was a breath of fresh air as a new companion. I absolutely loved her and the dynamic she brings to the show. She's so new and quirky and, as demonstrated in the episode, not afraid to stand up for herself. Nardole was hilarious and after the Christmas episode last year I was wondering how he was still alive after the husbands of river song but that was cleared up at the beginning of this episode. All in all loved the episode.
Steven moffatt has done it again. It was fantastic and very very funny. I think im going to love the companion due to the hilarious lines she has been given. Oh and the doctor was wonderful as always 😉It has definitely been worth the wait 😊
I loved the episode!! It was funny, scary, emotional, intelligent and more! This showed me how much I'll miss Peter Capaldi. Also, I thought Pearl was excellent, Bill seems such a down to earth character (even if she isn't on earth)! Plus Matt Lucas had me in stitches throughout. And seeing the snippet of John Simm at the end got me so hyped! I hope the whole series continues like this. It'll mean Capaldi and Moffatt can go out with a bang which is what they deserve. Long may this continue because I love this show so so much! Keep it up!
How do we get that lava lamp?! LOVED the episode by the way! The characters were awesome, I thought Bill and Heather's relationship was really touching, the music was excellent, the hair was excellent, the cgi was excellent, the humour was excellent! I really enjoyed Bill's introduction to the TARDIS, both humorous and magical, and really stood out from the crowd.
I loved this episode. Especially when the doctor said 'Never underestimate a crush.' how very true. I've seen my friends do everything to be around their crush, so no doubt they would travel through time and space just to keep a promise and be with them.
Great episode with some great character moments by accomplished actors. I really liked the tardis intro, with the sense of awe and wonder brought back. I thought Peter Capaldi was much better in the quieter moments than the more bombastic episodes of previous series. I'm guessing it will unfortunately be less character driven in subsequent eps, but I'm crossing my fingers.
Time Lordian01 I thought it would involve the Ice Warriors because they were involved with the flood but I think they might continue that with the Ice Warriors episode
aaw my gosh Pearl is so awesome, I can't wait to see where her character is going! and Steven is just so adorable, I worship that man! this season will be the fandom's big regenaration
I really liked the part when the pictures of river and susan showed up and i like how he had the old sonics and also i think bill is a unique character like no other as Clara is curious Amy is excited Rose is Nervous and Bill is a question machine literally
