Instead of attaching to the nearest lugs like the Optimount, it attaches to lugs 180˚ apart. This is something Gary Gauger (inventor of RIMS) and Noble & Cooley have talked about for years, possibly decades. While I think there may be some (small) real benefit, I think that, in order to achieve the full effect, a tom would have to be held up by two arms 180˚ apart, not a single arm attached at two points 180˚ apart.
