id love to see you interview my grandparents George and Martha Carpenter over in Edinburg/McAllen. Well known for their Hygeia Dairy on 23rd and Freddy, corn and grain fields all through out the 70's, 80's and 90's and their Grapefruit orchards up until McAllen as a city took over the land. My grandfather played a major role in Hidalgo Irrigation District 1 for many many years up until he retired some 20+ years ago. You will definitely learn a bunch about early RGV Agriculture and Farming. I grew up across the street from the dairy. Our house was surrounded by their fields and orchards. Now its all neighborhoods :( A few years ago they donated some of the land the diary farm sat on for a church to be built....alot of field trips were made to the dairy and alot of people went there for the fertilizer for gardening and so on. I can give you their info if you are ever interested.
