Alfalfa fields in the west desert ..the snakes are always near the edge of the field never in the middle..it's to cold they like to be on the border of sunshine and shade
As a teenage I would work in the rice fields to remove red rice that would grow in the white rice. We had to walk through the field in a line and pick it and put it in a bag. You could literally hear the snakes going through the grass. They would be in there hunting rats and things that were eating the rice. Some of the biggest moccasins I ever saw was in a rice field. But I made school clothes money!!!!
