It breaks my heart to see how large the Peavey facility is and know all the jobs lost to Asia. I was a proud owner of a Peavey Renown 212, talk about loud.... I also had a Peavey PA system in the 80s, a T10 solid body. All good stuff. Congrats on your auction gear, but sure wish they were still in America.
They still have plenty of facilities here in America but it really is a shame to see so much of the manufacturing go overseas. At least when they were built in the US they were built well enough that most have survived and we can still enjoy their old products today.
ForsytheVideo I agree, but looking at the size of the facility, I think of all the people who lost their jobs and if they found replacement jobs. Anyway, nice video.
more then half the production went to east. if you see how deserted is now Detroit, and consider it's happening in europe too you realize global capitalism is slow fucking us ....and we look happy!
@spiritualcramp8000 No, rampant unionism and government interference are what's screwing us...the direct OPPOSITE of capitalism. Peavey was created to make durable and INEXPENSIVE music equipment for the common guy. How much more expensive would that same stuff have been, if it was made here with regulated UNION manufacturing? How much faster would thry have gone bust? Don't ship on Peavey. Even the stuff thry made in the 80s amd 90s was AWESOME. I still use my Tracer Pro Custom guitar and PV1200 power amp...well into 3 decades after buying them.
At one time Hartley had like 12 or so buildings in Mississippi. Most of them were plants, others were engineering or business facilities. Now he just has the headquarters in North Hills (Hartley Peavey Drive), one plant (I think plant 2?), and a warehouse in one of the industrial plants by the railroad tracks. Sad
Thank you very very much for sharing this trip with us here! I'm from distant European Ukraine! The A street in Meridian Mississippi mentioned and shown has been so familiar and famous one worldwide to us for many years !!! And here the time has come I can see it myself!
I got a REALLY good deal. I wish I had been able to bid on more stuff, but I had nowhere to put it all or anyway to get the larger lots home. It was crazy how fast that auction was moving.
It deleted the first half of my comment for some reason. What I found out was the plant had been closed for some time, so they had been storing gear there. They decided that if they got rid of all that stuff they could rent the building and make more money off of it than as just a storage facility. So, if you rent a warehouse in Meridian, MS, Peavey could be your landlord.
All the stuff past the first set of boxes at 6:29 against the wall including the next row over were mine. 100 cage pallets 50 pallets and 3 lots of 5-6 pallets of Tolex and grill cloth
Yeah you actually initially zoomed in on it. Haha. Selling the carvin factory winnings which i won for 1k allowed me to afford this one which was... more.
It was crazy for sure. If I had more space I would have bid on some of the larger lots. Someone got 12 PALLETS of guitar amps(including lots of tube amps) for $700!
Not a bad video. The background music is absolutely horrendous. I’m hoping it was being used in an ironic way and is not supposed be taken seriously. Sounds like something my friends and I used to play back in our early teens.
I know it was a no on shipping the bass to me in England but how about that nice, heavy 115 bass amp? Always had a lust for those old TKO bass amps!! Pretty please? From one flt driver to another?! Again, great content and a cool day out to the factory. Just a shame about the circumstance really!
You could bring it yourself? I have a spare bedroom, bring your drumkit and we'll jam! I work 4 on 4 off, so if we time it right, we'll have plenty of time! Haha
@@ltd4all Once again, a stupid comment. You did not offer any "facts". The fact is that Peavey moved their manufacturing overseas just like every other company making amps in that price range. They were the last company to do that. Hurt much, comrade?
