Peavey Electronics Deserted 

So crazy how Peavey practically disappeared. They were on every stage from arena to dive bar through the 80’s-90’s

Such a shame. Early gear was built like tanks by locals who took pride in their work. From amps to PA gear. Unstoppable and reliable. Now it's just turned to shit.

You know a plant closing is resentful and disillusioning when you go to the abandoned plant eight years later and find every award and commemorative piece still on the wall. They closed it down and not a single person looked at those awards and felt like they ended up meaning anything in the end.

Sad stuff. some of the best bass rigs I have played were Peavey"s and I own 3 Peavey basses that are all outstanding.

This brings a tear to my eyes. I grew up playing on Peavey amps. The Mississippi Marshall. Rest in peace Peavey. Even if they're carrying on in China.

I thought of Peavey wasn't good in the early 80s. Then they unleashed the Butcher and it was very cool sounding. It almost needed like an OD pedal. But my fave peavey was the VTM. Great amp and sounded great live or in the studio. Later the Peavey classic, and ultra plus series were cool.

Mis-management . Hartleys’ son-in-law is a typical new-style management type . Out-sourced everything so as not to have to pay benefits & higher salaries to the rank and file ; while hoping that brand loyalty keeps the money flowing in .

When I was a kid, just about everyone's first good amp was a Peavey. No matter how old, how beat-up, how stained and ugly, Peavey equipment simply refused to die. But apparently that was a different time.

I lived in Meridian in the late 80's, early 90's. I remember being on a tour boat in Israel in 1987, and they had a killer Peavey sound system on board. There was a sense of pride when I looked on the back of one of the speakers and it said, "Manufactured in Meridian, Miss." On the other side of the world...

Was a great company. Really was. My made in USA early 1990’s Peavey Bravo is a killer all tube 25W beast. It can definitely hold it’s own with my Friedman, Bogner and Marshalls. Good memories playing Peavey amps growing up ( especially the Peavey Bandit, killer solid state amp ). Sad looking at the abandoned warehouse. Many a great amp was made in that place. Peavey definitely has a place in rock history.

Heartbreaking!!! Peavey made solid reliable giggable stuff at great prices in the USA for so long.

Peavey has been a music staple for decades. They experimented and , like most electronic & music companies, had several hits & misses. They have produced some iconic gear and their guitars and amps are often underrated and lack the resale value of other name brands like Fender & Marshall. If you started or played in a band from the late 70’s through the late 90’s, chances are you had Peavey equipment along the way. I still have my original signature 5150 and our second guitar player uses a Delta Blues amp that is a tone monster. Power amps, boards, tube amps, speaker, instruments, microphones, accessories. They really covered a ton of options priced for working musicians.

I have a Peavey 6505 and Blues Classic both made in the USA. Great amps love them both.

No pawn shop is complete without an old, dusty Peavey guitar practice amp with blue and grey colored knobs. 😁

I have some CS-800 amps from '79 that still works. I use them on monitoring, and for that purpose they are just great. They can handle lots of "soft clipping" without going into "protect" as many other amps do. I had a couple of Crown CE-2000 and also LAB-1000 amps, and it was a constant nightmare with amps cutting out for several reasons. My FOH amps are mostly Crest 8001 / 9001, so no problem there. Lots of brutal power!

I used Peavey bass amps back in the 70's and 80's. Very well made gear, sad to see what happened to the company. So much for Made-in-America...

Peavy made decent equipment for the price. Many of us couldn’t afford the top of the line stuff and that’s where they fit in the market. Some of the earliest guitars made on CNC machine shop equipment intended for metal working was used to maximize production AND make a consistent product. Maybe the tone wasn’t great on many of their amps, particularly the entry level stuff, but they could stand being knocked around without falling apart. They did try to make some models with decent tone but that’s not what WE bought. As teenagers it was the basic, least expensive stuff that we could talk our parents into buying so that’s what they built. Most recording studios have a 5150 in their stable though, just one example of some good Peavy tone. Affordable equipment for the masses was the plan and it worked ok until most everybody that wanted one had one.

There is a lot of talk here in these comments about Peavey being made over seas. I beg to differ. Yes some of their products were built over seas but not all of them. Their EVH 5150s and 6505 were made here in the USA. So were their signature guitars like the Wolfgang, Vandenberg, Omniac to name a few. Their steel guitar amps were an industry standard. The Classic amps were favored by a lot country artist. And Peaveys reputation for reliability was known all over the world. Their P.A. SYSTEMS set the standard. All in all Peavey put top quality products. They will be missed.

This is what happens when companies put profits ahead of their employees and consumers. They don’t want what’s best for us, they only want what’s best for them.

Greed ruined Peavey. Outsourcing to China was a big mistake. What happened to all the American workers that ran this abandoned facility? 🇺🇸🗽🦅🇺🇸

I own a forty year old Peavy wedge ( monitor ) w/ a black widow. Two years ago we were moving from our apartment to the new house.. It was getting late in the day, the last load and we were very tired. I had forgotten the wedge was sitting on the ground on the passenger side of my truck. As we backed up ,my truck caught the upper corner of the wedge. Then dragged it up and under my truck. So this is the end of my wedge right!.!? Wrong.... I heard a loud pop, and then the rear of my dodge shot up into the air.. It was obvious that I had hit something very hard. As I tried to move the truck, it would just rev up the rpms but not move.. So I put it in park put on e brake, shut the truck off and got out. When I got to the back of the truck, I just could not believe what I was looking at!!! The fucking wedge got stuck between the frame and the rear wheel well. When this happened with no where else for it to go It shot the entire rear of my dodge straight up into the air. My truck weighs two tons empty.Thats 5000 pounds. And there was an additional six to seven hundred lbs loaded on to it. So 5,700 pounds is resting on top of this little speaker cabinet.And it somehow did it right at the wheel that pushed the truck when you gave it gas. We were stranded unable to move in the middle of my driveway. The wedge was acting like a floor jack. And that cabinet did not have a scratch on lt. With the widow the wedge weighs about 50 lbs. So it was 50 lbs against 5,700 lbs. And that fucking wedge won. We had too call a tow truck, to lift the rear end up and pull the wedge out. Peavey makes the baddest fucking cabinets in the entire world! Bulletproof. Badder than ol King Kong, Meaner than a junkyard dog! To this day I still have that monitor it still works great and I will never sell it. You can have it when you pry it from my cold dead hands! Thank you Peavey for making the baddest shit on Earth.

i own a lot of peavey gear, off the top of my head: an early 80's decade amp with all of the peavey accessories, a 70's series 260 stereo booster, mid-80's series 260 pa system with speakers and stands, a 1982 tko-80 bass amp, two 80's century 100w extended-range heads, a 90's alpha bass preamp, a sessionbass bass head, a 70's bass cab with an 18" black widow, a classic series 120/120 tube power amp, a classic series 50/50 tube power amp, and a rockmaster guitar preamp, and 2 sets of mini-monitors that snap together for transport. all really great gear that always works and still works to this day. and all of it made in the usa.

I bought an used Peavey Bandit 65, back in the 80’s. It was my first amp and I still have it. I never really thought about getting rid of it but after seeing this I will definitely hang on to now.

Wow! This really hit home for me, the logo on the sign triggered a flashback. My first brand new amp was a Peavey Basic 50 bass amp purchased in 1985. Looking back, I feel privileged to have been a teenager in the 80s. I later bought a Bandit 112 then a Supreme.

I have motorcycled 40 states avoiding the interstate system so I could see life in and around towns. State highways are riddled with closed factories. Words alone cannot express the sadness of all the towns that died when the local factory shut down. America has sold her children's birthright for one generation of cheap VCR"s and cheap clothing long since thrown away.

I used to own a Bass Combo 300. I'm telling you, that amp was a monster. Great sound.

I still have some older Peavey stuff. It still works like it is brand new. Sad to see them close down.

I fell in love with the Peavey sound and checked out Country music as well as 38.Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd equipment back in 1985 and purchased 2x Peavy Special 130 amps hooked up to my Boss CE-1 stereo chorus ensemble, the best combination I ever had and the Peavy's perfectly delivered dirt and stayed clean when played loud! US companies took pride in their quality made products back than. Now I'm old and thinking of Merle Haggard's meaningful song "are the good times really over"

My first electric guitar was a 1981 Peavey t15 made in the USA. I sold it like an idiot. About a year ago I managed to track one down off of eBay,and I ordered the same exact model that I had when I was young. It has a shorter scale but it's still so much fun to play. And it was built so well too. I absolutely love old Peavey gear. This video breaks my heart...

Every Guitar I play is PEAVEY ! My Vandenburg I picked up in 90 ! and two Active Nitro's both are from 90 and 91 ! Some day people will see these were the BEST GUITARS made form peavey..... I still use my AMR ( peavey) tube sweetener in my guitar rack to sweeten the ART SGX2000 preamp on the wet side .... Good gear lasts the test of time …. They peavey products I have …. Have Done Just That ! and yes All of it was made right here in the USA !!!!!!!

Was a longtime Marshal player. Then I recently switchedl to a 6505+, as the Peavey Valveking I was using as a backup head was more reliable. Honestly, I couldn't be happier!!

How sad, but I did hear that Hartley donated the building to a school. Peavey made some FANTASTIC products. I am a Peavey fan for life. Their bass stuff is excellent.

Growing up in middle Ga Peavey was the shit in the late 70's Skynyrd used them I had a Renown amp in the 80's but when I got a Marshall stack I never went back to the solid state stuff but the Peavey p a's and all there stuff was well built,didn't break down and powered a lot of Southern bands...legendary

I remember my beautiful Stereo Chorus 212 and The Bandit 112.

Once a proud musical industry icon............ now just a sticker placed on junk from China. I keep their old USA gear working in my shop, and I'm proud to own those pieces.

Peavey CS-800s were in every PA rig back in the 80s and 90s. They weighed a ton but were unstoppable. I still have a Peavey 2x12 Classic all tube combo, 45 lbs of melt your ears loudness!

Crazy seeing this I went to high school right next door at Newton County High in Decatur Mississippi! We took a tour there in that exact facility when I was a junior in 1996 and it was a great facility, state of the art at the time. Actually hung out with Chad Peavy a few times in the local town, Meridian just 20 miles down the road.

Peavey still does business in the US. They recently rebuilt a Session 400 LTD for me in their Meridian, MS facility. Nice folks to deal with, and they know their craft. Running a manufacturing plant in this country has become treacherously expensive, so don’t go blaming them for outsourcing product.

Wow, this is so sad, I really liked the equipment they made, was pretty good stuff back in the 80's and 90's. My first amp was a Peavey Stereo Chorus 2x12

My first real amp was a Backstage 50,which I still have today,as a home backup. While the Backstage never really did it for me,nothing else I've owned has either. Played around with a Marshall JCM 900 MKIII for years and years. Tried larger Crates,and even a Peavey Butcher. After deciding the Marshall had to go,I started following amps on craigslist,researching them,reading forums and watching youtube stuff. In the last six months I've ended up with two 80's Peavey combo twins,which have both proven to be fantastic amps. Put a Boss SD-1 and a boss tuner in from of either and you're done. I was so happy with the first,I sought out the 2nd just to be sure it wasn't even better. They have slightly different tone pallets but I couldn't be happier with each individually. Once you get the tone you want,which came easier than any amp I've ever owned,and could be accomplished,even without the boss overdrive. It's just plug and play after that. Anything else I've owned had to have a ton of effects in front of to even get a mediocre result. Both these twins are straight jewels!!

Everytime I see Peavey's logo, or hear the name, I always think of Allen Collins in a mega second!!! ☮️☀️🎸🎸👈🏽

Peavey, was? a good company when it came to product support. They sent me all the info I needed to fix my amp. A schematic that could not be found on line. No complaints. But we are moving into a new age. As I watched your film I wondered about that tech that helped me.

I just bought a Peavey Valverb reverb and tremolo unit. There were/are very few companies that made/make rack-mount tube-powered reverb units and I'm very glad to now have one.

I played a peavey classic 2x12 for many years. Had built on phaser sounded great. Not many know this, but i had a ada mp1 in the rear compartment that was on all the time. Lol definitely kept my guitar buddies stupidified. Who knew a peavy classic would crank out some brown sound?

I used Peavey bass amps/heads/cabs for years. Moved to Fender now but only because its lighter, easy to carry. My god, trying to hump about a 410 bass cab!

It’s a shame. I still have several American made guitars and Basses. I grew up with Peavey gear. I still have my T-40 bass I bought When I was a kid.

They can use that shovel on the wall to bury what’s left of the Peavey company. If you’re old enough you’ve probably owned something Peavey. Once great products and innovative features were their norm but they lost their way in the early 2000’s when after being the standard for amplification and sound reinforcement in country music they pandered to the heavy metal crowd and ended up alienating everybody. Great case study of knowing who your customer is and tailoring your products for them...just ask Sears how that worked for them!

I own several peavey basses, a few international series a couple crafted in usa they're great quality. The market will probably never go up on them but if you shop you can get them for under 100 all day the last two basses I got were 50 and 75, but the $75 one came with Seymour Duncan's and a gig bag.

Carvin too. I bought a Carvin MB210 on their last day in town. I now have a new bass amp (best one ever too) from a dead company. I didn't know they were going out of business.

I passed this when I was cruising through the Delta to see where some of the blues greats came from like Clarksdale. I remember it was still open when I did that was about seven years ago I think. Many a punk rock band show was powered by a PEavey xr400 amp and SP-3 speakers in America, that I can tell you! America First! Let’s bring those jobs back!
