I got the 100w head of this through a Mesa 4x12 v30 cab and it sounds gorgeous, especially with the good ol Maxon808 boostin it. I'd say with a different speaker in it, it'd be even that much more crisp of a unit.

Thanks for the video guys, went straight to your website and bought one, delivered NEXT DAY!!! A real bargain - although if I had paid full RRP I'd be a bit miffed that you have to pay extra for a foot switch. Tone is AWESOME. Agree with the Capt that the boost/gain buttons on the lead channel are a bit underwhelming, I'll be keeping my boost pedal in the effects loop.

i have one of these and there is no shortage of tube distortion/gain if thats what you are worried about. it doesnt come through on the single coil and youtube but trust. a hot humbucker and i was getting evh tones without the compression. fantastic! add a compressor and there you go. very loud at 1 watt. 20 watt outside is a lot of fun!

At 10:04, if you insert a volume pedal into the effects loop you can use it as a master volume pot. Then you can crank it up at room levels.

got the 50w and stuck a eq pedal in fx loop to control the volume awesome amp, thankyou for the previous epic deal, unfortunately it really shows up how weak my blackstar 30w tvp is. & Pete where did that come from at the end! Who knew!

Re your discussion about size of gigging amps, I have a peavey delta blues amp that is 20 years old this week. It is 30 watts and in all my years of gigging I have never played a gig on more than 5. No ones ever asked us to turn up!

Quincey Van Den Berg I've still got one... they are great amps. Mine was acquired in a trade. I got it as chassis only not thinking much about it and when I slapped some tubes in it I was blown away at how good it sounds. I wish I could get the same circuit as the Windsor in a 50w package. I've tried pulling the outside tubes and it just isn't the same.

There is a Windsor Studio combo that's 20 watts with a built in attenuator, maybe check that one out. They go for about £/$/€ 150-200 second hand.

Quincey Van Den Berg the Windsor and the valveking we're essentially the same amp. the first gen vk was 6l6 driven, while the Windsor was el34 I believe. that was really the only difference.

@Cap10Barbossa They are definitely loud enough, great amps, takes pedals really well. You should try one. They aren't really suited for low volume playing, but perfect for gigging.

My 100 watt Mesa Boogie lonestar sound fantastic at home on reasonable volumes. I don't feel wattage really is the deciding factor any more for home use, it's more about how you want to use the amp. Plus if you have a master volume then really you can dial useable tones from most decent amps.

Adam James Rogers I think that's the case with most boogies. I tried a used Mk III in a store and it sounded nice and thick at low volume despite the wattage. With most amps, though, they tend to sound best cranked.

just picked up a used one up for $200CDN replaced the EL84 tubes and 2 blown internal fuses and off we go - it replaced the horrible Marshall Origin 20c. I even got the schematics sent to me by Peavey

I have a Valveking 2x12... The boost does nothing until you start pushing the volume...

Yup. The Boost works on the Volume control end of the pre-amp and the Gain works on the err... Gain end

They totally did it wrong. Leaving the volume on 2 in the dirty channel is obviously going to make it sound fizzy. Should have selected the 5 watt setting and boosted the volume to around 6. Then it would be a warm marshally distortion. I've got one by the way and they absolutely don't sound like this

Agreed they did something similar with the 50w epic deal which sounds poor unlike any other review of this same amp series. And having spent over a year with my 50w version, I really recommend them all day long, but I agree with Lee that over priced it in the first place.

Peavey still turns out quality products, but I think people just shy away from the brand due to its image. They really just need to redo their logo and offer an endorsement to a major non-shredder.

I might be a bit biased (cause I own one) but the 007 is great for cleans and pedals but leaves a bit desired in the amount of gain it has(works great with a BOSS Sd-1 or TS style pedal)don't know anything about the Peaveys,but that is my two cents.

Jody1987 lol, the 007 is way too loud for bedrooms and the lack options it comes with is a major draw back. I had one and got rid very quickly.

The cabinets are the same size. The features are the same only the output tubes are different. We'll output tubes and the circuitry around them.

Snooze00 If you want a tube amp, yes. Remember, 99.999% of solid state amps are attempting to emulate a tube amp some way shape or form. Those tubes just do this thing that solid state amps can only emulate at best but not duplicate. If you want a loud solid state amp then no. If I was going solid state at this moment I'd have to op for the BOSS Katana 100w 1x12 or the 50w 1x12. The 50w is only like $199 new but I'd opt for the 100w myself. Both amps have great power scaling feature that works great. But they aren't a tube amp.

Please do a video on Tubes at Home. For there are those 1 W nano-amps. How much Watt is optimal for the bedroom player, the living-room and still get on well with your wife and neughbour. My guess is that tickling the 20 Watt is too much. Compare two of those mini-tube-amps, 1 W, 5W, with more regular 10W 20W. Tube up with the Joneses.

I've gigged extensively with a 20-watt Marshall DSL201, and it was plenty loud enough, even with a lumberjack on drums. You need a PA system most of the times anyway. But I have to say, I didn't have to use clean that much.

The Blues Junior is LOUD. Obviously it depends on the size of the venue, but plenty loud enough for small gigs, if the venue is larger you can always mike it up.

I've got the standard black one, couldn't even tell you what speaker it has, but I love the sound, portability (15KG instead of 32 for my AC30) and versatility.....the master volume means that you can get a great overdriven sound at non ear splitting volume and it cleans up nicely using your volume on the guitar. It's also a great pedal platform......as you can probably tell, I'm very impressed with mine :-)

I own the 20w head and it sounds great. I get lots of compliments on my tone. I agree however, that the intro tone in this video is terrible. Why would you use that crap to try and sell a product?

The amp has a good clean tone but the drive sound is awful. It's too fizzy, I'd have said it was a solid state amp if I'd only heard it and not been told it was a valve amp.

Pedro Andrade the fender hot rod deluxe or Marshall's DSL 40 don't sound any where near that fizzy with the volume down low. The amp sounds fizzy because it sounds fizzy.

Gary Moseley the dsl 40 sounds just as fizzy because of the shitty stock speaker that comes with it. This could be the case with this amp too. My friend owns as a valve king and he replaced the speaker with a eminence the governor and it made it sound like a completely different amp opened it up .a lot of mid priced or affordable amps you have must definitely have to replace the speaker. Wouldn't be bad if you pushed to the mids and treble with a graphic eq.

Gary Moseley thats because they don't have nearly as much gain. Also, you can play with the volume as low as you like, you just have to switch to 5 watt or 1 watt and keep the master volume knob around 4. That's how high gain tube amps works and how they should work, they need power tubes working a little bit in order to sound great
