Greetings from Torrance! What a fantastic way to start the video! I never get tired of seeing those incredible moments! I love your comment about how it doesn't matter if you hit a .25 cent Royal, it is still a win. I think about that every time I play. My goal is to hit a 4000 dollar Royal this year by playing smarter with more accuracy, but in the mean time, I will be happy with staying ahead per session. Even when a session goes horrible (and they do) I always review "What did I do wrong?" Usually its my ego or hubris that is to blame. Your commentary reaffirms a lot of what I have been thinking and reading the other comments I can almost hear the "light turning on" for many of your fans. It doesn't matter if this hundred bucks go south. Your gaming philosophy is spot on. Keep up the great work my friend!

Thank you, Jim. Hop around an entire bank of machines, if you have to. If there’s 8 all together, in an opposing bank of machines, chances are that 1 or 2 of those machines will be rolling along half way decently. If you find one, stay on it and go up and down the denominations to preserve the bankroll. Sooner or later, in a session, you’re going to hit a Royal Flush. Let’s hope it’s a Big one.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Great! I’m sure you’re well on your way to mastering video poker, as much as, you’ve mastered the saxophone. Which is considerable. Plus, you’re already doing what I’m doing….On a big score, you went out and bought a premium sax with your winnings. That’s exactly what you’re supposed to do and more. Great Job, Adam! Be careful, though, grind it out on 8/5 BP…..stay away from DDB, unless you’re way up with house-money….then it’s ok to take a brief stab at the more volatile games; but not too long. The safer bet is the grind out a Royal on 8/5 BP.😉🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Hi John, Great video as always. Looking forward to the rest of the series. The Tens hold was definitely the right play, I have had a few of those royal misses playing various games. I got lucky once playing double double, I was dealt Ace Ten suited. The right play is to dump everything but the Ace. I had been teased with 4 to the royal several times so I held the Ace Ten and it filled the royal. Dumb play, good payoff. That was an exception, always trust the math.
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
Yes! And after a lot of misses, I occasionally employ the same “what do I have to lose” mentality and throw luck into the hands of fate myself too! My friend had a frustrating session once & was missing a lot of hand combinations for the Royal too on a difficult session. So when a re-deal hand showed-up and there was a 10 in it, he joking said, “What do I have to lose” semi-sarcastically, held the solo 10 card, and I’ll be damned, if he didn’t hit the Royal for $4,000! And that was my point in all of this…..yes, the probability math is omnipotent in video poker and we must adhere to it, but even when “wrong” selections are made “sometimes” good fortune falls our way!😝🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

In my area can’t find 8/5 bonus best around here is 7/5, can find 8/6 deluxe… would you play 7/5 bonus
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
7/5 BP’s payback is 98.01% and the 8/6 BPD’s payback is 98.49% and 9/6 DDB’s payback is 98.98%. The volatility on BPD is 50% higher than the volatility is on 7/5 BP. The volatility on the 9/6 DDB is twice as high as the volatility on 7/5 BP. So what you should do is spend 98% of your time on 7/5 BP. You should only switch to the other games when you hit something good, like 2,3,4’s or 4 Aces on 7/5 BP. And only stay on those more volatile games to the amount that was won on the 7/5 BP game. However, if you score a big hit on either 8/6 BPD or 8/6 DDB, go back to 7/5 BP with that “house-money” but increase the coin denomination on the 7/5 BP to the next higher or even skip to next 2 higher denominations. Use the big hits on the volatile games (8/6 BPD & 9/6 DDB) to subsidize the lower volatility 7/5 BP game. You may just score a Royal with the “house-money bankroll” while at the higher denominations on the 7/5 BP game. When you do, you’ll be so glad that you followed my advice on this call. Good luck, Cody. Remember 98% of your play should be on the 7/5 BP game. 7/5 BP is a “medium pay table”. (Not as good as 8/5 BP, but much better than the 6/5 BP pay table (which you should NEVER play). The 7/5 pay table will serve you well. I’ve hit 18 Royal Flushes on that pay table for $68,000 in wins when I’ve been in casinos where 8/5 BP hasn’t been available. Always strive, however, to play an 8/5 BP pay table. Make sure the 8/5 pay table pays 10 on 2 pair, 125 on 5-K’s, 200 on 2,3,4’s and 400 on 4 Aces. Don’t play 8/5 BP if it only pays 150 (for any quad) because that “ain’t” real 8/5 BP. Stay in touch, Cody, and let me know how it goes!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

You clearly illustrate that to be successful at VP you not only need to play each hand properly (there is only one correct play for each hand) but you also need to have proper money management. My guess is that without proper money management in this video you would have been ruined (lost the entire $150) early on. Thanks for another excellent video.

Great video and info again, John. Does it matter what kind of VP machine you're playing as long as it's BP 8/5 one line? Rivers here in Chicago has 8/5 JOB, 7/5 BP and 9/5 DBP. Which one to play? Thanks.
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
Hi Jo, Thank you for your kind words. Every pay table that you just mentioned is terrible. You’re best bet (in this case) would be 7/5 BP…..Never, however, play a 6/5 pay table, they’re the worst, and what’s more, if the players play the bad pay tables, they are “rewarding” the casinos for offering a substandard game and so the casinos will continue to offer them, which is no good for anybody. It is better to drive to a competitor’s casino that offers the 8/5 BP pay table and “reward” them with your play (even if the locale is “inconvenient”) than it is to “reward” a local casino for “screwing” (excuse my french) the locals. That being said, I used to play at a casino that only offered the 7/5 BP on the main floor (even though they had 8/5 BP in the high limit, which was out of my range at the time). So, I played a lot of 7/5 BP (which is a “medium pay table” for BP). Just for the record, in spite of the medium pay 7/5 pay tables there, I hit them for 18 Royal Flushes for a total of $68,000 in wins from that casino. It was the 2 Royal Flushes that I hit there in February 2021 (on 7/5 pay tables) that gave me the money I needed to hit Pala that same night for $109,000 on an 8/5 BP $25 coin machine. So 7/5 BP can, under the right circumstances, yield some good to great results! Best wishes to you & Mark. Nimfa says hello.😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

@daijo492 2 года назад
Thanks for the tip. I do hate casinos taking advantage of players that's why I love the machines in LV. I'll try playing that low pay BP for now. 😑 Last week, Mark hit a straight flush and a quad on a super times machine at a .25 denom so he made up for my loss. 😁 Take care and hello to Nimfa. Looking forward to the rest of your John's World episodes.

I wanted to use your more delicate choice of words about casinos taking “advantage” of players in their local markets, but it just wasn’t a strong enough word to convey what the casinos are actually doing to people out there!😊🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Royal Flushes are a dream come true for me. Anywhere from 3-10 per year and usually on $1, $2, & $5 Coin. Daily practice on a simulator that warns mistakes on the lower volatility games of 9/6 JoB & 8/5 BP ONLY! Doing this will change your whole experience around.😁🌎
@cobrabtc

@@johnsworldofvideopoker must be nice to hit that many. As much as I have played at multiple types of VP games and multiple denoms... I rarely hit good hands. I think the games at Choctaw are terrible. There is some crazy bad programming going on up there or I am the most unlucky player ever.
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
It’s not so much, that it must be nice, so to speak. And by that I mean, it wasn’t an accident. I practiced a lot, I only focused on one game, I protected my bankroll as I described, I was willing to risk big wins towards even bigger wins, I avoided bad pay tables, I read books, etc. But most of all, I think, it was daily practice on a simulator that “warns on mistakes”and ONLY playing 8/5 BP that contributed to my results. I’m only trying to provide clarity here. There ARE NO OTHER GAMES. There’s ONLY 8/5 Bonus Poker. I wouldn’t play DDB or TDB (or any other Carnival games) if someone paid me to do it, because there’s no financial future in those games. They were created by the casino to lure players away from 9/6 JoB and 8/5 BP. There’s only the pay tables (which must be good mind you, so don’t play on a poor pay table) and there’s only a player’s decision to practice on a simulator to master that ONE game. There is no such thing as bad programing. It’s all random. But if a player goes out and plays every other game type they offer, and they don’t practice to master the one and ONLY ONE game that they should play, then, of course, the house is going to beat them, more than the player beats the house. Royal Flushes hit (on the average) once out of every 43,000 hands. Hitting a Royal isn’t luck, it’s a Certainty! But randomness, allows for that to happen more than that! I’ve hit 3 Royals in an hour for $109,000 in 3 hours. I’ve hit 3 Royals over 4 weeks time for $52,000, I’ve hit 2 Royals in 2.5 hours for $40,000, and on & on and on. I’m honestly not tooting my own horn here, but I am trying to make it very clear that it’s 8/5 BP, constant simulator practice, a 1,000 coin bankroll to start a session etc. I don’t live near Choctaw, but my friend does. He’s hit dozens of Royals there. It’s the method that a player uses, not the programming, that determines a player’s results. Low volatility games, constant practice, mastery of 8/5 BP ONLY, and bankroll management (protecting it during a session). Anyone can do this. But if after this hearing all this, a player still goes out and keeps playing DDB, or TDB or Ultimate X, (or any other Carnival game for that matter) then video poker is merely a recreational pursuit for them. Which, by the way, is perfectly fine. 99.99% of players are recreational players. That’s awesome, all those different games are very very fun. But they’re not profitable. Me & Slotmassacre & Curtis, are NOT recreational players. We’re ONLY in it for the money. The game is fun for us, yes, but ONLY because of the money. There’s a difference there in how “we” see the game. It’s not recreational. Now if you see anyone on RU-vid playing games that aren’t what I just described to you, then understand this, they are “recreational players” that just happen to be on RU-vid. And they’ll never make any real money on the games unless they stop being “recreational”. I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s game or parade. All the games are fun. But if money making is the primary focus, then that can only be achieved on the “select few” games that I’ve mentioned. Otherwise, it’s all recreational, and if money making is a player’s primary goal, then all those other games are a waste of time. There’s a place for recreation. But is has nothing to do with making money. They’re polar opposites. It’s hard to explain all this in writing because it’s factual, and it is not easy to communicate tone in writing. I’ve had a lot of fun in my early days of video poker playing DDB, TDB, and a few other high volatility games. They were fun, they were exciting, they were thrilling, and they were NOT profitable. So I quit playing them, and that is why, I still make money playing video poker today. Anybody could do what I do as long as they discontinue the practice of playing the games recreationally. And the greatest irony of all, is that I “seldom go to casinos”. I film once a month (for a few hours) and then I spend the rest of the month making videos. No one will ever see me in casino, because I’m “almost” never there. It is my sincere hope that the clarity that I humbly put forth here today, helps you and other players, to reach whatever goal that they may have in video poker recreationally or otherwise. Have fun, and play safely within your means.🌎

@17:14 ... yeah, but if the King of Hearts came up in the spot where the Jack of Hearts was, then doesn't that mean that you weren't gonna get the royal flush anyway since you would've been holding the Jack of Hearts ? also, I'm not entirely convinced that the cards that pop up on the flop are the same cards that would've popped up had you chosen to hold a different combo of cards ... (or in other words; I'm of the mind that the cards which pop up on the flop depend on which cards you decide to hold)
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
The cards are constantly being shuffle and come out randomly. Had I not held the 10♠️, then the card sequence as they roll out would have been: A♥️K♥️10♥️J♥️Q♥️. The cards roll out randomly and is not decided in any way by any other factors.🌎

@@johnsworldofvideopoker I always believed that when you hit draw that RNG selects 5 cards for the hand and 5 replacement cards and the RNG stops. You discard and the replacement card come out in the sequence selected. Serial Deal. But since that is an Indian Casino they maybe using Parallel Deal which is bad. Thanks for the video and your comments.
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
Yes, but “understand” that since the cards are constantly being shuffled 100’s (if not 1,000’s) of times a second, that means that the “needed” cards are ALWAYS there (when you need them) and always NOT there when you need them. So the player has a decent random chance of hitting the cards that “they need”. The point that I was making has nothing to do with timing. Had I selected the “wrong cards” in this example in the exact same millisecond that I chose the “right cards” and then hit the deal button at the exact same time that I hit it in this scenario then the Royal rolled out just as I said. My point was NOT about “timing”….that’s a given. I was illustrating the fact that “wrong-way” play sometimes, can yield a Royal. I never “lament” “missing” a Royal. They are are dime a dozen and I hit them all the time. There’s plenty of Royals continually rolling out of the RNG and you don’t have to wait “43,000 hands” to collect them either. They happen every day in every casino nationwide. And I would “bet” on that.🌎
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
Parallel dealing is not legal in the state of Nevada, and IGT machines ONLY use a continual “random shuffle” in all of their games. If you’re in a tribal jurisdiction with IGT machines you can be sure that they all use a continual random shuffling method of dealing out the cards.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
