My spouse and I picked up Avenues in Crocodile Green & Caribbean Blue a couple months ago. What we like most about the Avenue is the design and ease of use. They are stable bikes and the ride is smooth over most surface types. What made us choose Pedego over other manufacturers was the local dealer experience and warranty. Our Atlanta Pedego dealer has been wonderful, they have gone above and beyond to deliver an exceptional purchase and support experience thus far. These are our first ebikes so we have nothing to compare them to but so far we are very happy with the purchase.

Love mine! 5 year warranty, at 100 miles they come and pick up and redeliver and do a free service. Same thing for each of the first 5 years. They pick it up and deliver! They do a free service! Nobody touches that and for a 2 thousand dollar bike thats amazing!! And great support. Phone, i can stop by. Such nice people.

Where do you live for them picking it up? My pedego is an hour away

It’s good to see Pedego move to designs with frame-integrated batteries. As you said, putting it in the downtube distributes the weight better on a bike with a rear hub motor. I also like they offer mag wheels as an upgrade for people who don’t want the bother of checking and adjusting spoke tension.

Totally, they offer some unique upgrades that other ebikes don't usually have. I like how their battery had a two step removal but could be put back without twisting the key. It's a clean integration that looks pretty good too :)

Great review as always, I like the different colors they offer. I really enjoyed your past let's ride videos, any new ones coming up? 🤙

Hi Matthew! I appreciate your feedback. Lately I've been focused on some programming and site upgrades, so my other videos have taken a back seat. I'll keep your comment in mind and aim for some fun Let's Ride videos in the future :D

I would love to see you review REI’s brand Co-Op mid drive bikes. They seem like a great value. I’m looking for bikes to bring in our RV for riding Rail Trails around the country. We prefer Mid Drive ebikes.

Cool, I'll add them to my list Julie! Thanks for the request ;)

I was really disappointed when I checked the specs. 65nm's of torque, nearly 52#'s. Proprietary system too. Dapu would lighten it up, increase torque 50% and open it up to more readily accessible parts and repair. Like always, I have to wonder when we are going to get lighter and more responsive butted and rounded tubing.

Excellent review, especially about charging the battery and taking it out and the key. Nice bike though.

when will pedego change the avenue from a cadencd sensor to a torque sensor? Maybe the next editiion will include it.

How come you didn't cover the battery power gauge (lights), which is what I was trying to get information on.

Nice! Do they still use Dapu motors?

Great question! I asked about this and was told that the Avenue uses a new motor from "Rayson" which is a brand I haven't heard before. I specifically asked about Dapu, and I think they still use that company for other motors.
@evanburt2766
@evanburt2766 2 года назад
@@ElectricBikeReview it depends on the bike the Avenue uses Dapu for the motor. The Rayson motor is only on the P749 bikes

I love everything about that bike, however, battery unlock/charge port being nearly on the ground, deal breaker. The better designed ebikes have those up high.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying to have it way down there... As I've gotten a bit older, with continued knee sensitivity, I really appreciate when the ports are easier to reach so I don't have to bend down.

Pedego is a lot like Schwinn in the 70's. High quality builds, but not really keeping up with their foreign competitors. Kind of unnecessarily heavy, a little clunky, but really built well and rugged. Like the old Schwinns, these will be around for ever. Personally, I think hub motors, though fine for many applications, are just a last decade tech. Mid-drives are more affordable, and reliable now. The nylon reduction gears in a hub drive just aren't keeping up with the higher torque they generate and people are wanting. Make them well enough and people complain about the noise. Most important to me, they are a real pain to deal with when you get a flat.

Yeah, it definitely takes more energy to fix a rear flat if there's a hub motor involved. I appreciate the quick disconnect that most use in power cable running back there. Mid-drives also use geared motors inside and can produce some noise, but it tends to be higher pitched... The big difference is that the motor is quieter if running at lower RPM, and that's the case for mid-motors because they leverage the bicycle drivetrain. I really noticed this on the recent AUTOMATiQ reviews for Serial 1 and EVELO.

Now that I have read numerous comments about being scammed, I'll add my comment. I got a comment from a person that said they have something for me. I won a giveaway. It wasn't your channel name. It was something close. It said to text. I replied that I need 5he contact information. This has happened on 2 other channels.

Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah, there seems to be more text spam, email spam, and now fake comments on RU-vid, Twitter, etc.... it's sad, because it creates distrust and harms people who have good intentions. I try to answer comments and delete/ban spammers, but it can become overwhelming with so many videos now.

This bike is a poor value compared to industry competition. $2,000 for a China made bike- mechanical brakes, 7-speed shifter, small battery, and LCD display… pretty disappointing for this price point. You can get a much better value e-bike with the Aventon Pace 500.

Fair feedback, I think Aventon sells through some dealers as well. What I like about the Avenue is the two frame types, lots of colors, great warranty, and overall good build quality with some nice accessories. For some people, especially those who live near a Pedego shop, this could be worth paying more for. Unboxing and self assembly is a hassle, and I usually get my bikes professional greased and tuned (which can cost over $100) so when these things are factored in, I see the Avenue as a decent option. There are lots of bikes to choose from now, each with a different value proposition. I haven't seen the newest Aventon Pace though, will keep an eye out for how it has changed from last time I covered it!
