www.einstein.yu... - Brianna Barker received a new heart at age 13 after being diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat at age 7. Over the years this condition led to heart failure. Her only hope for long-term survival was a heart transplant. On May 19, 2015, Brianna presented awards of recognition to two of the Montefiore and Einstein cardiac specialists who have provided care to her - at the Spirit of Achievement Luncheon, the flagship fundraising event sponsored by Einstein’s Women’s Division. Thanks to Drs. Daphne Hsu and Robert Pass and an entire team of doctors at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Brianna is now healthy, leads an active lifestyle, has just graduated from high school and is headed to Penn State to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
