My Uncle Robert played the part of the busboy Yes, he is that short (we all are), about 5'-4" and Pee Wee is pretty tall. He said that he was standing on a box and then he stepped off the box as he handed him the shoes. He will always be remembered for that little part in the movie. It's his claim to fame. That, and his Army service in Vietnam.
Same here. I heard it recently and envisioned Pee Wee dancing. I also laugh when I hear Burn In Hell by Twisted Sister when he tore through the movie studio. RIP, Pee Wee. Thanks for the laughs.
My mom used to quote "PLEASE, BELIEVE ME, SANTA, PLEASE!" from the Christmas Special all the time! I'm 35 and we still say it. Your mom sounds pretty rad! :)
I'm still crying about this. I was in the Marines at Camp Lejeune, when Pee-Wee's Playhouse came out (I'm an old man). Some corporal and I commandeered the TV room every Saturday morning, when the show was on - never missed it. Then, the movies were all great. In his professional life, he brought good, wholesome, family entertainment to people. I wouldn't have any problem letting kids watch any of his programs. He was a very funny man, and I am so saddened by this. RIP, Pee-Wee! We will miss you. TEQUILLA!
@@ArmyJames Several of us (Army) took over the common area every Wednesday (I think it was Wednesdays) to watch the latest episode of Powerpuff Girls. No one complained. 🤷♀️
R.I.P. Paul Reubens 1952-2023 Tim Burton was only 25 when he directed Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Paul Reubens really helped Tim Burton start his career as a director. "Please accept my apology for not going public with what I’ve been facing the last six years. I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you." -Paul Reubens
In 1986 I was a 10 year old little black girl from Chicago... I have knew this movie verbatim .......Thanks Pee Wee for keeping me laughing and out of trouble 🤗😍
@@JohnSmith-cc3ud i didn't see this when it came out, not born yet, but I saw it when it made it to tv and have a lot of it memorized lol. The target demographic def wasn't my family -hick ass broke country kids from the south- nor was it something my culture would typically watch, but I was drawn to it for some reason.
I love how innocent and naïve Pee Wee is in this movie but the expression on his face when he knocks over the bikes lets us know even knows he just forfeited his life.
Took my wife to this movie on our first date... and YES we are still together!! Pee Wee, you were a BIG part of my family, each of my children and now grandchildren watch you!! There is a special place in heaven for those that make others happy!!
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I say we tattoo him!!! YEAH!!!!, And then we stomp him!!!! YEAH!!!! Then we hang him!!!! YEAH!!!!Then we kill him!!!! -whistles- I say you let me have him first !!!
Just came here to pay my respects to a legend. Pee Wee Herman was one of my favorite comedians growing up. I always remember waking up early Saturday mornings just to watch his show Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. Thank you for the laughs and sharing your God given talents to the world Mr. Reubens, you will be missed tremendously but your legacy will live on. My prayers and condolences go out to his family and loved ones. Rest In Peace Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman 🙏🏾🙏🏾🕊🕊
R.I.P. Paul Reubens. One of the most talented, gifted and brilliant performers of all-time. Your legacy as Pee Wee Herman will never be forgotten nor will the joy you brought to so many. You were equally amazing in your other roles outside of Pee Wee and your presence alone was enough to make something special. Thanks for the priceless memories.
I remember as a little kid watching this scene with my Brother and trying to do the dance. He always thought it was hysterical. Who doesn’t think of Pee Wee when they hear Tequila….RIP Paul
It did to me as well 😢😢😢 it was our youth 90s kids rocks 🎉❤ !!!!! Can't believe how time flies. Our youth went by so quickly 😢 I know this sounds clique but those was the good old days
Great comment Michael. I just turned 66 in May (born in '57) so I was 27/28 when the first movie came out, yet I enjoyed it like a 'kid' (then) born around '73, '74 just as much because there wasn't anything like that when I was 11-12 in 1969, so it appealed to me on a dual level of being a child again, and a young adult. I so wish it was 1985 again.
Sadly we are all here today 7/31/23 for the same reason to pay tribute to pee wee, this is one of those iconic scenes from a movie that people from all walks of life know and love , thanks for the memories and laughs R.I.P
Pee Wee was a man way before his time. We who watched it in the late eighties were blessed. A bright moment in each week. Paul Reubens was such a pioneer. It's startling how well he his character still plays today. From Wikipedia: "Reubens, always trying to make Pee-wee a positive role model, sought to make a significantly moral show that would teach children the ethics of reciprocity." And it doesn't even mention why they abruptly stopped airing his shows.
I hate to burst your bubble, but, The show ended because he exposed himself on stage in front of children. I think alcohol or something was in his system at the time, But i don't know the details much further than that. it was a long time ago. I'm not here to advocate against him or condone his mistake in anyway. I did however, enjoy his show quite a bit as a kid and I watched his movie too and enjoyed it a lot. All I will say further is that I hope he is in a better mental health than he was when he made that mistake and that no one was traumatized by that mistake.
@@ralphmueller3725 it was actually an indecent exposure charge which was filed when he was found at an adult theater touching himself. There were no children involved and he pleaded no contest to avoid a trial and national news coverage, of course that didn’t happen and he was dragged and CBS cancelled Peewee’s Playhouse. Very unfortunate how it all went down, but I don’t think he was in the wrong at all.
@@ralphmueller3725 You are incorrect. It was in an adult movie theater in Florida, i think. I always wondered with as much money as he had why did he do it there, if he did it at all. He claims he didn't.
@@SUGAR_XYLER Then look away - problem solved. Original poster got 157 "likes" compared to your one apparent dislike of him so it seems you're part of an extremely small minority of "dislikers" or haters. Also, what the heck are you doing here on this video post and reading people's comments? I don't give 2 shits about knitting and so you definitely won't see me checking out their videos and much less comment on them either.
I loved Pee Wee as a kid. I always used to copy his dance and I even had a toy of him and I would make silly drawings of him. I can’t believe he’s gone. RIP Pee Wee 💔💔
I loved this movie as well when I was a kid. I went years without watching due to life. I watched it again recently and I enjoyed it more than most movies I've seen as an adult.
@Freedom Isn'tFree she actually did playboy back in the 80s but unfortunately not in the elvira outfit (she's naturally a redhead) with a lot of Bush lol
My best friend and I (we were 14 or 15 at the time) went to the movies one saturday at the mall and went to 3 movies in a row from 11:30am to 6 pm...we seen Back to The Future, Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Teen Wolf. It was an epic day..all three were in the cinema at the same time. We had about $40 between us...we watched the movies and hung out in the arcade when we werent in the theater.
I remember watching Pee Wee’s Playhouse as a kid, I’d admit I didn’t understand much of what was going on but the way he looked, acted, spoke & laughed kept me entertained! Thanks for the memories! R.I.P.
Your not the only one until a whole bunch of them moved in to the house next door to the house next to ours. My mom wouldn't let me go anywhere near that house so of course i did and it was crazy!
I watched my young boys taking turns doing this dance years ago while they were watching the movie. They didn't know I was watching them from the other room! I laughed so hard, I hurt my stomach!! I was caught and then we all took turns doing the dance!! I think this was one of the funniest laughs we ever had!! Thank you Pee Wee for the joy and laughter you brought us!!❤❤
+huntergaming I didn't laugh at that at all. Just smiled a lil, meaning that I thougt it a silly yet distantly apt punctuation to the whole goofy scene of it all. Yep. Sure did.
@@lorenzomagazzeni5425: You *really* don't know???? Note that at the time of his arrest, he was starring in a kid's TV show called Pee-Wee's Playhouse. Note also that his career *might've* survived had this happened back during his HBO days. www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/paul-reubens-pee-wee-playhouse-star-arrested-1991-article-1.2571832
Back in elementary school I was in a class with a child that had severe turrets but if you ever put this song on and I swear on everything this kid danced this scene to perfection. I really miss that guy he was really good kid.
I wonder if the people who made this movie realized they were creating one of the greatest comedy classics of all time. They should all be so proud of their work. It has not lost a bit of its magic.
Well, there were hundreds of talented, hard-working people who made this movie, and most of the credit goes to Paul Reubens, who played Pee-Wee and co-wrote the movie, and the director, Tim Burton. And, yes, they knew exactly what they were doing and how funny the movie would be.
if you haven't taken the 2.5 hours to watch all of his pre-movie appearances on Letterman, you must! worth the watch over a few days. SOOO sweet and crazy. Letterman handled him well and really made him a household name just before this came out. And of course, the year after this, we got the TV show with Cyndi Lauper singing the theme song!!! :)
Give letterman credit for having him early in his career and there after . Letterman was know for his ability to giving a platform To cutting edge guest when everyone else was just doing celebrities
Did this at the club and EVERYONE crowded around me in a circle, hyping me up. Once the song ended it was crazy; I've never had SO MANY people offer to buy me a drink, there had to of been, like, 110 people (all of which I took up on their offer). I ended my night absolutely HAMMERED, I was DELIRIOUS... but ecstatic nonetheless. I couldn't of done it without the help of Jerma985, he gets FULL credit here. Eternally grateful for the words of wisdom he shared on stream recently. The next drink bought for me will be a vodka pineapple in Jeremy's honour.
Pee Wee was way cooler tho. He had a cool treehouse and sh**, not some pineapple under the sea. And this cool dance. And a dope farm with giant vegetables.
This movie actually syncs up perfectly with Dark Side Of The Moon. I'm not even kidding. Put the album on repeat and start the movie exactly when the Warner Bros intro starts. The opening scene will begin exactly when the music kicks in. Balloons float up in the air when they sing "Breathe in the air". When he waits to be crowned for winning the race, they sing "please don't leave me" as everyone around Pee-Wee runs away from him. He wakes up realizing it was a dream and looks around as they sing, "look around". Seconds later he sits up and puts on his bunny slippers to the lyrics "Run rabbit run". He does a quick workout with weights and puts them down as they sing "the work is done". The music matches the feel of the Rube Goldberg machine making his breakfast. He creepily laughs in the mirror with tape all over his face precisely with the man laughing in the song. And the bells begin chiming right when he steps outside his house. And that's all just in the first 5 minutes. I could list at least 30 more instances for the rest of the movie. Like when he walks into the Magic shop exactly when they sing "softly spoken magic spells". Or the man in the phone booth, hanging up and walking away to "Thought I'd something more to say". The bell logo on the wall behind him to "tolling of the iron bell". Him getting antsy trying to ask the tour guide to show him the basement while they sing "waiting for someone or something to show you the way". The dream about a dinosaur eating his bike right as the bells go off again. For real, I could keep going lol
😢 it seems like yesterday when I’d watch that scene and really enjoyed it laughing with my friend. I surely miss him already. RIP Peewee and thank you for the good memories. 😢
He had Some Balls to tell all of those bad-ass bikers to shut up so that he could use the phone! I myself have the weirdest sense of respect for him and his timid (yet brave) audacity!
I hope this doesn't ruin it, or if anyone has seen it, but the beginning of this scene looks like the beginning of the bar scene in the first Spongebob Squarepants Movie
Going through alot of tough things in life recently. Needless to say I haven't had a good laugh in a few days. But when I watched Pee Wee drive off in that motorcycle and nail that billboard at full speed I laughed my ass off! 🤣
Me too dude this is one of my favorite scenes of the movie in fact the whole movie is pretty fucking funny as hell Pee Wee Herman was super nuts and crazy but the dude knew how to dance his tushy off priceless you guys
I found a pair of those platform shoes in an abandoned house when I was a kid in the early nineties. I rushed home to put them on and do the dance but they were dry-rotted and fell apart. Can't win them all.
