TrailerPoopers When I saw them in tour I asked Eric why he got his BASS* drum privileges taken away when I meant to say kick drum and he clearly had no idea what I was talking about and I'm still v embarrassed 😂
TrailerPoopers I was still yelling because I was front row and my ears were dead so I assumed I just screamed the wrong things when I asked him.. o boy
I love how the band's playing is as tight as the microtuning itself. Also HUGE props to the drummers; takes a crazy amount of skill, rhythm, and chemistry to be synchronized with each other.
I know this comment was made 5 years ago but imma reply anyways I recently picked up the drums and i’ve been watching footage of Cavs playing so that i can get a better feel for it. I have to say it’s been pretty fun just observing the techniques that pro drummers use.
It's crazy when you think that it comes from FMB sessions, and they put it at the end of Infests the Rat's Nest to tease the upcoming K.G., Explorations into microtonal tuning vol. 2. These guys really know what they're doing haha!
Holy shit, everything about this video, from the musical style to the band members themselves, is straight out of an old-school rock doc, right down to the laid-back, playfully irreverent way they talk about their project. There is one thing that's different though, and that's 1080p :)
Theyre a little more pressured now, i think. theyre with international labels, a DIY label is talking to castleface in US. Castleface is old as fuck because John Dwyer is old as fuck. Theyre a FLAGSHIP of diy shit because johns my favorite ex-cokehead and theyre poplar. I feel like it will come back. In a lot of ways this album reminds me of PMDB on roids
When you suddenly immerse your whole band to play instruments that are totally new to them that they might not have been able to study but still make 12 songs in like 5 months? Seven dudes, right after building a new studio for themselves. I literally do not understand.
3:58 Joe's pedalboard is a Boss TU-2 --> JHS Supervolt --> Wampler Analog Echo --> Zvex Fuzz Factory --> Dunlop Crybaby. Getting powered by an MXR DC Brick.
they should do more videos like this, as a musician, I am fascinated about recording process, specially when it is the very own guys that do it by themselves. Anyway, lookin foward the volume 2, keep on guys, you are already a inspiration to new garage band all over the world. Hope that we can jam someday
I only discovered them recently, but in that time I've become a huge fan, I honestly don't think I have ever or will ever be drawn to something to quickly and unrelentingly... the best band in the world right now
FMB is very well done, that's what a real rock album is, same with the past albums as well, the Gizz has become its own original stupefying sort of sensation in rock music but has a great influence from past rock music, it's like the music has this quality that feels like it becomes its own mystical entity and you forget that humans are making it all happen, that's what I've always loved about rock music in general, but all of music too
@@macmuggo5459 I can’t say for sure, but I’m gonna guess that it’s the fact he is conservative. Their recent releases aren’t even with flightless so they figured out how to do it in their own and not have to deal with Eric
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t. For some reason in my band practice I always act as though I am super fucking high, when I never am. There is something about playing music while not interacting with anyone except your friends that makes you act like you are on tons of drugs.
I guarantee you in 30 years, that's going to be in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, A music museum, or in some rich dudes house. Hopefully the last one would be me.
Joey: Open tunings will take you to the next level of musician, for example John Butler Also Joey: Processed to play one of the only John Butler songs written in standard tuning
Its weird because hes so happy and proud in the earlier interviews and the boys were all new and confused and socially awkward. I love them all very equally (Joe is my fav tho) and I honestly think gizz should do a recorded/jasonmastered vlog master for coachella and how it is getting there this US tour, shit rips u dig
i love the fact that eric's cymbal with a crack in it has practically disintegrated by now and he seemingly still uses it (at least he did on some 2018 performance)
Possibly the best band in the world right now. I'm so glad to see them using a 38. I've recorded a ton on the same machine and it somehow always sounds great. I also didn't use the noise reduction unit.
2017 is probably one of the best years for some of my favorite musicians of all time. 5 albums from King Gizzard, Orc by Thee Osees, Memory of a Cut Off Head by OCS, Bunker Funk by Damaged Bug, Naturality by ORB, Science Fiction by Brand New, Old Locamotive by The Murlocs, Stone Garden by Kikagaku Moyo, and so much more.
this shows, how the way to be a brilliant musician isn't about having the top quality gear, but rather just use some psychedelics and you're good to go! I've always prefered this musical modus vivendi, but from this documentation I guess my band would need to Tascam reel-to-reel to really kick it off ;D
