+branfeather Not at all to me. I thought it made appropriate sense; it WOULD happen to her like that, just for another frame of reference, maybe? I thought of it like it was what would happen in space or something.
This was awesome. I'm all about saving money and this way I can expand my shaving cream so I only need a small amount. First, I have to make a huge vacuum chamber so I can be inside before shaving. Here we go....
This is fantastic. You guys should lead the way in having more science segments on the local news! Who cares about celebrities?? Show us something really cool about the world around us! ~Trav
My dad used to belong to AVS when I was little and for several years he did this demonstration in my class. Afterwards we got to eat the peeps. It's such a cool visual demonstration of the properties of gasses.
This is what the non-news fluff should be on the news. Neat sciencey segments instead of petty, unimportant updates on events very loosely related to the election.
Yes I inflated one with an air pump until it got so big I entered it into the county fair and got 1st prize. Then it deflated and shrunk at the awards ceremony and I got disqualified...
where the pressure differences do play a big factor and why the shaving cream behave that way I believe at the end the reason it exploded is because the air coming back into the chamber comes from the bottom at a very fast rate and shaving cream is so light that the force of the air shoves it into the top of the container
Fun fact, elasticity is the property a material has to go back to its original shape and size after being stretched. Distensibility, is the ability of a material to be stretched. Just to keep CS Carl Nelson on his toes :)
***** +KITTYSAUCE mom Ohio's boarders are like a one-way trap. You come here temporarily for business, family reasons, etc., then you get stuck. It just sucks you back in no matter how much you try to escape. It then punishes you by bringing the wicked cold from the north, the burning heat and humidity from the south, the crime-rate from Michigan, the flatness of the midwest, the difficult terrain of the Appalachians, the traffic of a major city without actually having a major city, the storms of Tornado ally, the mosquitoes of Florida, a education system that couldn't find its own ass in the dark without a flashlight map compass and trained guide, and track housing... track housing everywhere... Worst of all, everyone will say either "Ohayo" (a greeting in Japanese) and think they are being original, or make a reference to cow-tipping.
Air molecules are rapidly moving around inside the peeps. The rapid movement builds up heat energy. When air molecules escape the peeps the heat energy escapes with the peeps, and they become cold.
If you put water in there it'll start to boil because there's no force to keep it down. The water would stay the same temperature it was when you first put it in though.
best part... Peeps are getting a little deflated, right? As you would if you were put inside that chamber as well. No-ooh :( ... That chick, sounded so "I don`t wannaaaa" LOL
The shaving creme behaves pretty similarly to the human brain when exposed to the vacuum of space. That's one of the reasons even if you get a person back into the ISS after being exposed you have to be very careful you don't deflate their brain.
Well, I'm really not thinking of peeps. I'm thinking of our brave astronauts and how they're even able to move about in the near perfect vacuum of space in those pressurized suits let alone handle wrenches, screwdrivers and other tools they need in order to keep the ISS functioning properly. Truly amazing!!
three things entertain me. 1) science. love science. 2) video games. not really for normal reasons, but because it's sort of mind boggling to know that a bunch of seemingly random numbers and letters somehow result in planetside 2. 3) skateboarding. because although i understand the physics and know how to do the tricks, my muscles lack the same knowledge that my brain has. it's like learning stuff a second time. and possibly a third time, if you count switch skateboarding.
