That’s awesome and something you won’t forget. I’ve found a duplicate 2020 Corvette STH last year at a Target and waited in the toy section until I saw a boy about 10-11 looking thru the pegs. I went a few pegs down from him and acted like I was looking and when I took one from the back of pegs to look at, I put the Vette STH like the 3rd one from the front of the peg, and walked further down the aisle to make sure he found it. He actually looked at it and kept thumbing through that peg like two or three past and just stopped and yelled for his mom to come look and he asked her if it was what he thought it was 😂 Then he let out a big yes and did some goofy arm pump and told his mom to let’s go home so he could show his dad. Next thing I knew, my eyes started to water (a lil bit😂). Then some guy that was looking at the M2s said to me that he didn’t know how he missed it bcuz it went thru every car on the pegs. He must’ve had like over 20 cars in his his cart and I didn’t want him to keep thinking how he missed it (I’m that kinda guy 😂) so I made sure to tell him that he didn’t bcuz I was holding out just waiting for the right person to give it to lol. His big FU couldn’t take away how good I felt as a person. When I was standing in line, I felt a lil squeeze by my elbow and when I turned around, the boys mom told me thank you, bcuz she saw me put it there. Kinda put me back in perspective as to when I was growing up with HWs in the 70’s and why I started collecting again as an adult!

I'll tidy the area up a little bit while browsing, but if a car falls on the floor it will be staying there. My knees won't allow me to get anywhere close to floor objects.

Wanna hear more annoying facts? I see a lot of "customers" not only keeping the track of the stuffs disorganized, but also wrecked paper, and it's even harder to find with a good hanging part thanks to them

As both colllector and investor, I find it even harder to see future market now that resellers not only collecting and grabbing around, but selling at much lower price (one might mistake it for the fakes), which is why I tend to buy more expensive one to support better investment points 😥

I agree that there is more demand than supply and that is driving the secondary market up. But I believe there’s more than one way to get cars other than hunting. And the secondary market isn’t all bad, just got to know how to navigate it…which I talk a lot about on this channel 👍👍

The thing that gets lost here, is that “legitimate HW collectors” haven’t changed at all!! Being a collector isn’t just about collecting as many different HWs you can find. Collectors have certain HW niches that we search for. 90% of HW collectors today (legitimate), aren’t affected by the scalpers in a negative way. In fact, due to the surge of scalpers, the last few years have been some of my better years in collecting, not to mention how much the value of my collection has gone up, as well as many of my friends. In the late 90’s HW intended to go in different directions when it comes to certain series for the collectors, while still focusing the mainlines to be intended for children and young collectors just starting out. Social Media and sites like EBay is what to blame for the scalpers, not the people that are paying more for mainlines. They pay more bcuz it’s easier to get the ones they want, instead of trying to beat the scalpers. By the time you drive around looking at various stores, by the time you find it for a $1.18 you spent $20 in gas just to find it. So it’s actually CHEAPER to pay 10 times more than the actual price, lol. It’s better to let the scalpers do the work😂 The people at Mattel have put certain people in place whose only job is to get HW back to the vision it was intended for, the young boys and girls. Scalpers are only hurting the children that want to play with cool cars. I was born in 70 and I got to experience that HW vision. There was no greater feeling than to go to the toy section and be like “Oooo I want this “ then 5 cars later be like “NOOO I want this one”. Then you’re faced with having mom or dad saying “you can only get 5” while you have like 11 or 12 that you really want. The worst feeling then, was having to put back the ones you couldn’t get. Now the worst feeling for children that age today, is having to pick between a taco car and one with a toilet seat on it. I couldn’t imagine being a young boy that loves HW, yet not being able to get any good ones bcuz of a grown man (no a grown adult) taking all of them just to make a couple dollars. Besides Mattel, HW, and some of the most respected well known collectors, just recently started to come together to work on creating a grading system for HW, bcuz right now the scalpers have the market values so upside down. An official independent source is going to be created just for HW and only HW. Similar to the AFA and CAS for when it comes to Star Wars. Even tho both the AFA grades other action figures, this one will ONLY be HW. HW is well aware of what’s going on in the stores bcuz of sites like EBay. I’m not going to explain everything that HWs is working on (I have a relative that works for Mattel’s legal dept), for common sense reasons, but they’ve been targeting the scalper pandemic and the error forging market that’s literally a result of RU-vid, but both are about to be taken out of the equation. I was floored when I found out that Mattel has a team of people whose only job is to focus on ways to produce errors in videos that are being posted. They’re even about to start producing blister cards in conjunction with the grading system, so that after a certain date will be able to authenticate certain errors (wheel and missing tampos) that will be able for us to tell if someone removed the blister by using acetone on the back. By people doing that, it’s hurting those that have those true errors, by those types of scalpers.
