Raising a pair of Pekin ducks in our backyard. These guys had lots of character and enjoy roaming the backyard looking for any snack they can get their hand on or a pool for a duck party.
@@tattedup1189 Have a secure run / coop for the ducks to live the majority of the day in. If the dogs are big dogs you will need to train them to not view the ducks as a play thing. We had a neighbor dog jump our fence and put a puncture wound and broke a wing of one of the ducks in a millesecond. Duck lived, but was an ordeal. The pond will be fun, but could also become a pain, the ducks will absolutely love it though. Ducks can live fine without a pond, they just need there heads to be able to go under water to clear their nostrils. Depending on what else is in the pond they may cause a lot of mess, that's why I say it could be a pain. Check out Metzer farms to order ducklings or a local farm store will likely have ducklings pretty soon in the early spring. We love our ducks, both Pekin and Welsh Harlequins have been great to raise, many other breeds as well to select from. Good luck. Quack Quack!
