Had some friends from SA who went on this in their circa 1930 Studebaker. Their experience was AMAZING - followed it all along at the time. Pity no one thinks of bringing a film crew along on every event like you GOOD PEOPLE.
Special mention to the 'tricycle' guys! Everyone is a winner in this type of adventure! The other thing is that you understand that people all over the world just get along fine!
You see how hard this was on car and driver today but imagine how much harder it must have been to do in 1907 with no roads except the odd cart track and no back up.

Really enjoy seeing a 60's Porsche set up for rally with kick a$$ tires. In U.S. the Porsche 911 is a luxury car purchased by rich dentists. Spends 90% of the time parked and pampered. It is thrilling to see the engineering put to real use.

Watching documentaries of earlier races gave me the idea to do it by bicycle, which I did in 2011. Except I ended up in Amsterdam. I was sick and exhausted and Amsterdam was closer because I had planned to do a day of lapping the Nurbürgring. Also, Amsterdam sounded more interesting.

Easy did it without back up in a tatty 1931 Austin 7 without any breakdowns, punctures or sat nav or doctors or mechanics or posers etc cost only a few grand !
Too bad Google Maps couldn't help them. It only gives directions if you are driving where there are roads, and there weren't any roads for most of the trip.
This looked great but the guy saying it is the toughest event in motorsport is pretty ridiculous. Dakar, Baja 1000, Motocross, pretty much any real competitive offroad endurance racing series is 100x harder.
I'm thinking would a Lada Zhigyli, or better, a Lada Niva, the little 4x4, be too new? The Niva goes back to the '70s, or even '60s for the Zhigyli. Or, maybe a Volga 21, which is a pretty car with classic '50s styling. Would that be cheating? I guess it's moot since the Russian leadership has decided that they can't live with their neighbors.
Poor video making. When you did the interview, you should not focus on the speakers only. Step back a little bit, show the speakers and their cars together.
