Pekoe Trail is a 300+km-curated long-distance walking trail through the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka, which traverses the vast network of tea trails that make up the Sri Lankan Tea Country.
The 22-stage walking trail takes you through some of the finest ecology and mountain terrain in South Asia as you begin your journey in Kandy and make your way to Nuwara Eliya, passing through Haputale, Hatton and Ella. This interconnecting trail network will enable visitors to discover varying terrain, history, culture, food and local community on foot in short sections, or as part of a multi-day experience.
Here's the Stage 2 from Galaha to Loolecondera. Total length is 14.7km (9.13 miles).

Special Note for the Viewers:
I’ve done this video to make you aware of the beauty of this place and please don’t misuse this information in order to ruin it. I’ve spent so much of time/money bringing this to you so that you may enjoy it.
I also have a very kind and humble request to make. Should you ever visit this place, you’re kindly requested to adhere to the following in order to save our Mother Nature not only for the future generations but for the current one as well:
* Avoid careless/irresponsible/money-oriented/mega tour groups or organizers.
* Travel in small groups as Mother Nature can’t afford so many footprints at once. Stick to the designated trails or hardback surfaces at all times.
* Minimize the use of polythene/plastic and do bring them back. Please don’t burn them in the wilderness. Even organic/bio-degradable waste is harmful to the nature and animals. Please stick to the simple rule of “if you pack it in, pack it out”.
* Use reusable water bottles, plates and cups. Even paper cups/plates are harmful and take years to decompose.
* Remain quiet and vigilant. Don’t disturb the tranquility of the nature. Respect wildlife and don’t disturb them in anyway. Also be considerate of other trekkers.
* Please collect and bring any litter/garbage left behind by other careless travelers.
* Don’t light fires unnecessarily and do try to use portable cookers instead of using firewood when camping. If you must, only use firewood on the ground and don’t cut any trees for this.
* Don’t bring any plants back with you or cut any trees/branches unnecessarily..
* Don’t use soap/ shampoo when bathing in natural streams as they contaminate them and kill wildlife.
* Don’t do anything that harms the Mother Nature.

@@SriAbeywickrema I will watch rest of your videos also. Very interesting. Besides, i am amazed by your knowledge about these mountains, their nature, history etc. Keep up your good work. I am familiar with this region. My father was having a big provision shop in Galaha town. I had a short visit sometime in 2012. I will surely make another visit soon. In the meantime, i will watch all other videos you had posted. Thank you.

@@bluebag2242 Glad to hear you having a bit of history and some connection to this part and Sri Lanka. Galaha-Deltota-Hewaheta not often visited even by Sri Lankans due to their somewhat remote location. But I just love that part and the climate. No wonder James Taylor chose Loolecondera as his base. Hoping to do the rest of Pekoe Stages in the future, fingers-crossed. Been raining here for the last couple of months making it not so appealing.

@@SriAbeywickremaThank you very much for your elaborate reply. These area are not having much accommodation like in other parts of Sri Lanka, and i attribute this to the remoteness of these places to regular tourists. I born in Galaha and studied there upto my 9th grade.. There are many friends and some relatives all over the upcountry, but, contacts are almost lost. It's wonderful to recall and remember my childhood days in those mountains. These memories never left me, despite 43 years ago, we moved to India and settled here.

Thanks - There's an App called Pekoe Trail. Check it out for info. In addition, I do my own research before the trek. You can trek without any guide as they can be easily followed using the trail map.

Awesome. Very informative and well narrated. Thx. Speaking of leeches, I got reminded of my life on estates back in the days. If I happen to take this trail I'll carry some salt water to get the leeches off. I also appreciate you asking persons to be mindful of nature and to avoid littering. Thx again.
