The hype already goes through the roof with the original scene but this transformation with modern animation just makes Super Saiyan absolutely majestic. Literally peak fiction (also, why was this reuploaded? Translation error?)

I have to admit, I really like the SSJ aura effect in this. The anime's felt sharp and focused, but this version comes across as if it's the barely contained surface of a sun.

I think its been 20-25 years since I first saw this scene and while I have seen some truly epic moments in other animes (even other movies, shows and games) nothing has stuck with me like this has.

I'm a little sad they imply Frieza shot Piccolo when in reality Frieza shot Goku and Piccolo jumps and shoves Goku with his shoulder to take the shot as Goku's guard was completely down.

One good thing about Frieza especially in this arc is the fact that he is really truly simply too powerful, not in any unreasonable way but just too powerful, this is also something that Super on its ENTIRE series failed to show the "gap" between strong and stronger... Also this game failed to make the Super Saiyan debut hype because of the rushed pacing... And, uh wrong sound effect? Isn't that the sound of SSJ2? The one with electric like effects?

Somehow, TFS' dub of this moment is still more chilling and impactful than any other version I've seen, in any language. When those guys get serious, they make it WORK.

The transformation happens too quickly in Kakarot. DBZ critics said the show was too slow with this stuff, but the game is so fast it almost kills the hype entirely. They cut too much.

How about the bakayaro scene?

I wish some of the voicelines and stuff were acted a little better. Like when goku tell gohan to leave if i remember correctly he yelled at gohan and had his angry face bc he was so full of rage at the moment, but in the cutscene his voice didnt sound too upset and the facial experssion idnt portray a man filled with rage attemtping to hold it back for his son.

Foreigners don't fully understand the impact of this scene. Goku usually speaks in a calm and comical manner and uses a countryside dialect. The first person he uses is "ora(オラ)", which is a very comical dialect. However, when he became a Super Saiyan, he used "ore" for the first time. "Ore(俺)" is a first person word with masculine characteristics, and is the opposite of "Ora" In other words, Goku's personality is originally a character that doesn't suit the first person word "Ore". It shows how his personality has changed and he is unable to control his rationality. Japanese fans were more surprised by his first person and personality changes than by his strength. In Japan, you can read the person's personality, emotions, and intimacy with the other person in the first and second person. In English, everything is expressed with "you" "I". Unless you read it in Japanese, you won't be able to fully understand the Toriyama's thoughts. foreigners have a misunderstanding, but Goku is not a manly super hero. He is an childish person who uses countryside dialect and speaks in a comical way. Think about why the author Toriyama chose Nozawa. He said, Goku's voice can't be anyone else but hers. The decisions made by someone other than the author are the same as fan-made.

The game has beautiful cutscenes but I feel they completely ruined the impact of this transformation.

Why does budokai 1 a game from 2002 have better cutscenes? Anyways still cool to watch pekora experience at least some of the story.

Damn it looks visually really good, they really rushed it and took away a lot of the atmosphere around the first transformation though. It was less epic than the anime imo.
