We have been running a pelican case for years as our primary jump kit in our rescue squad. It is one that was designed specifically for EMS and has the complarments sectioned off (and is reconfigurable) as well as having a couple of clear sheets of pockets attached to the lid that allow you to see exactly what’s in there and you can peel one back (Velcro) to see the one behind it as well as the one you just moved. Pretty slick overall but not sure if pelican designed the whole system or just the case and someone else put it together.
The Nanuk 945 is the same size as the Pelican and has the side latches on it if that's a deal breaker with the 940. The Nanuk is by far the superior case with a gentler price tag.
Both great boxes.....if you are over stuffing your case then you need to rethink the logistics of what and how you are packing. Pelican is also approximately 100 dollars more expensive where I live.
Yes, the Pelican was a bit more. Depending where you live will dictate the higher cost. Also, if your Canadian, the Nanuk is the way to go, to support a Canadian Company! With that said, the Pelican is a bit more quality of build. Now, if I could get the nanny front latches and the rest of the Pelican case and quality? That would be great!
@@CKKnifeandTool Pelican really does need to update their latches on the protector series cases. Something like the Storm series or the Power Claw latches would be great.
So basically they're very similar except for the side latches. I checked their site and if you get the bigger cases Nanuk has side latches also. In my opinion Nanuk is slightly better- better locking latches, looks better and costs a fair amount less. Made in Canada. Pelican would be my second choice as it's made in the USA and is a very good product. Both have excellent warranties and customer service. Both are definitely way better than the Chinese knockoffs. Love the orange especially for first aid kits.
i like that pelican has the latches on the side but i like the shape and design of the nanuk... i also like the double lock latch thingie of the nanuk.. plus nanuk looks more fun... i understand that pelican is the original founders of these cases but then again pelican is way more expensive... i would pay the extra dollar for pelican if they were as fun looking and if the colors were as vibrant and neon as the nanuk...may be my decision making is based on petty reasons but well i personally prefer the nanuk... just got one for my dji drone... now ordering more for all my camera gear
Similar sized large nanuks also have side latches. I have both and my new cases are going to be Nanuk. Pelican are very nice cases just not quite as cool.
umm, you have two different sizes of containers. The nanuk, in the same size as the Pelican, in this video, does have side latches. Similarly a pelican in the same size as the Nanuk in this video, doesnt have side latches. You're not comparing two similar model types. So everyone reading this, Both brands have tons of selection for size, and they are the same across the board. Except Pelican is ridiculously priced.
I have several older large pelican cases for rifles/shotguns. Love the cases, HATE the latches. They're HEAVY. I have one Nanuk, and vastly prefer the latches. The new Pelicans look like the latches are different, but I still prefer the Nanuk. The current generation of Nanuk 940s have steel-reinforced padlock holes now.
A better comparison would have been with the Nanuk 945. This model has the latches on the side like Pelican. Of course you didn't already own that model, so it's understandable. Nanuk 945 video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CtLCBZxP2Lw.html
