Pelican Bass raider 10E NXT Modifications and review. Short tutorial on some of the mods I’ve done to my little boat. Hope you enjoy. #Pelican #Bassraider #pelicanbassraider10eNXT #fishing #mods #bassfishing #garmin
I noticed that you have the aftermarket 'Bulldog' rudder attached to your front trolling motor - that helps the Raider track a little better. I also put a kayak paddle with one blade, on an old trolling motor clamp on the REAR of the Raider, as a 'drop-down' rudder. It just swivels up for transport, and the boat tracks straight as an arrow now!
Thinking about getting one of these boats for my channel, also. I have a kayak that is way too heavy to lift at my age. So, this is an option for me. Great content. Thanks for sharing your experience on the mods for the Bass Raider 10E NXT. Awesome!
Awesome boat, I just bought one two weeks ago and am working on making some modifications to it now. I'll post some videos up when I get some of them done. Great post
Simple and cheap, the way to go. I, and others with the BR 10e do have problems with water intrusion between the deck and the hull, and I mean a LOT of water. If you don't, count your blessings. The only conceivable entry points should be the seam, but there is a rubber seal covering that. I sprayed Flex Seal around the seam/seal, and that did not good. The best solution is to install a screw in drain plug at the center rear of each pontoon and periodically drain the pontoons. In my experience, Pelican after sale support (I purchased mine new from Academy) rates a "D"; little or no interest in the problems I had with my BR 10e.
Agreed. About once or twice a year I will take everything off the boat, clean it, and then stand it on one end to empty out the water. If you ever have to carry this thing down to water, you'll want it as light as possible.
You are definitely right about these are hard to find. Plus they doubled in price since the pandemic. I recently bought the Bass proshops 10' pond prowler. For $800. a year ago they was $600 I believe. I have a 2016 Hobie outback kayak. I bought it brand new for $2,600 from a large Kayak shop. The biggest problem is I'm not able to stand up in it. That's why I decided I had to get Pond Prowler because they are very stable and I could stand and rest my lower back. Verygood video and setup.🙂🎣
Those are stock seats? That’s good to see they improved. Mine came with those green hard plastic seats that makes your ass hurt just by looking at them!
Wish I had used 1/2 inch plywood. Went with 11/32 inch to keep the weight down. Added glue down marine carpet. I get a little flex in the plywood floorboard. Kind of a spongy feel when standing up and moving around. Most likely caused by the thin plywood or because of wrapped carpet around the side edges on the bottom (causes it to sit up a bit along the edges). Was wondering if you get any flex or spongy feel when standing up? Did you fully carpet the plywood? Top, bottom, and edges. Would appreciate your input. Really enjoyed your video. Great mods on the PBR.
I do not. Was just using it on Saturday and it had no flex at all. Of course, it's never been really soaked by rain or anything. I keep the boat covered and to my knowledge, it's never experienced a good soak.
NOt 100% but it could be they added extra foam in the body of the boat. There is styrofoam inside the boat so maybe this version has more? Also, the seats are different. Beyond that I don't know a difference.
I attached a stroller umbrella to the back of the seat. You can fold it up & swing it around out of the way when casting, or deploy it when cruising. Also - easy to adjust for the level of the sun to stay in the shade.
Good job my friend. Love your setup. I also have one, have about 3k invested in it and the trailer. I have front spreader lights, nav lights, interior and exterior lights as well as underwater lights below deck. I hope to put it on RU-vid soon. You got er lookin' good though for sure.
The things added and how is all the optional pieces a fixed the plastic. A helping note. Turn the front rod holders upside down. You will want to cover the foam with something. Nice set up
You could use a hole saw bit that’s the same width as the cup holder and then add something like this. GloBosenPur Car-Cup-Holder-Expander for Car Organizer with Adjustable Base,Compatible with Yeti 20/26/30 oz Hydro Flasks Large 32/40oz, Fits Most Cup Holder, Diameter Bottles in 4.11"-4.44" (1pcs) a.co/d/9TTwfBM
Nice job on the Pelican! I just got mine. I'm going to start slowly with the mod's. I have a question about the eye hooks that your whistle is attached to. I want to install the same and use a little strap to secure rods. Did you use self tapping screws? Do they snug down firmly? I guess that's a concern for attaching anything that requires holes. Thanks!
No need for self tap. They came with screws made for kayaks (which are are made with the same plastic as the 10e.) Also, it’s way above the water line so you really don’t even need sealant. Only time I’ve used sealant is when I put the scupper hole in the back (which I didn’t mention in the video). That’s almost a necessity given the design.
I have attached everything with SS screws and fasteners and silicone sealant. However, I used 1" plastic blocks with marine grade adhesive on ribbed floor prior to lying my 3/4" treated flooring. Avoid putting holes in the bottom of boat if possible unless it is a scupper drain. I also ran a 1" PCV plastic conduit the length of the boat with my forward lights and electronics wiring. Hidden and works great. Add a couple extra wires for later additions is a good idea.
@@LyellWalker Thanks for the info Lyell! As Hugh mentioned, I'm finding that screws that are included with kits are ss. Would you have info or a link as to where to get the screws/kit that you mentioned? Maybe the local hardware store? Thank you sir!
Great video! How did you fasten the accessories to the boat? Stainless screws? Also wondering if/how you sealed. Recently got one and I’m trying to figure out fastening accessories without having to take the boat apart. Thanks!
The accessories I bought from Academy came with screws. If not, I’m sure an Ace hardware sells them. I did use some clear Marine sealant on any screws/holes near the water line. I don’t personally think it’s necessary on top of the boat (unless you don’t plan to cover it).
Like the boat I'm planning on getting one. Not going to mod it yet. I'm 6ft 4in 245 waight good vid I enjoyed it what trolling motor did you get. I'll be fish in saltwater in marches and Piers and docks no deep water maybe 6ft and less.
I plan on purchasing the same fish finder as you! Bass pro shops has a sale on them soon but my question is what battery do you use for the fish finder?
Not sure tbh. Bought it from Walmart. It's this one but in grey. www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-Small-3-Drawer-Desktop-Unit-Plastic-White/10877957?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1223&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=2222222227710877957_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=9191744&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=10877957&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw2dG1BhB4EiwA998cqMxYpLXnfroHhUGju3JycmqztWnz7x1s0UNG92bp0c9JuVdCOQvXjRoCzPYQAvD_BwE
Looks great, I’ve had mine for a few months now and had to drive down to the good old 🇺🇸 to find and purchase 1, even though they are made in 🇨🇦 they are just to hard to find anywhere…I’m having fun getting it ready for spring…just put a casting deck on it as I like all my wires hidden and put all my storage underneath. I’m a bit iffy on my plan of putting the transducer on my trolling motor for my garmin echomap sv plus a rudder on order. Does your transducer mount pass the bottom of the boat…To get active side view visuals? I don’t know if having a rudder and transducer on my trolling motor in the front will work out.
It goes deep enough for the side view. Haven't had any issues with the boat interfering. You can try different mounting positions or mock up an extension if you want it to go deeper.
Great video. I noticed you have your motor up front. I see a lot with it in the back. Do you find the motor up front with a rudder in back a better option?
Can I ask how long is the trailer with the boat on it? From where the ball hooks on to the back end of the boat. I need that info to see if that setup will fit in my garage. Thanks buddy🙂
Pretty sure this is the one. I got it off facebook. www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200612542_200612542?cm_mmc=Google-pla&Google_PLA&Trailers%20%2B%20Towing%20%3E%20Trailers&Ironton&gclid=CjwKCAjw8sCRBhA6EiwA6_IF4fQb8BAkSPzDejbGF4d4tTq-uqyM89R2UGxMz6QMGmkY4Qk-HEfiFRoCQQ0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
nice review. question, is your TM a vari speed or the 5 speed forward, 3 speed reverse click type for lack of better words..Also do you plan on a small outboard at some point?? ..
I have a MK 55lb thrust Endura max trolling motor on front. I have a 4hp 4stroke Hangkai OB on the back. I also have a rudder I made from an old trolling motor I had so in smaller waters or windy conditions I can quickly attach it and switch out it fir the outboard if needed.
And yes, the Min kota Endura Max 55 has variable speed control. It's great and after growing up with the click control type, it is amazingly easier to use.
I looked at that and almost pulled the trigger a few times. It does get frustrating to constantly be messing with the handle to keep the boat tracking so maybe it's time to invest.
That would be on the north end of the weight capacity. I’m sure it would float. Not sure about how well. I’m 250 and I’ve easily put 500lbs total on it.
I would say... trollling motor: $250 Battery: $100 Fish finder: $500 Transducer mount: $30 Anchor system: $20 Other accessories: $100 Hoping my wife doesn't see this post.
