My friend (joe hill) was killed in pelican bay last month. I knew joe since 14 I was 16 . we Bmx every where did bongs played Drums....but by 18-19 joe strayed away from us and started doing crime after crime. Joe had a good mom and did everything for him. Joe was in love with my sister which was the same age as he. We just can't believe the way he turned out.

Horror story alright! The world has so much to offer, and this all these dudes can see. What a messed up childhood you would have to go through to not be able to control yourself so much you would have to wind up in a place like that. When you could be sitting on a beach in Hawaii watching the sunset over the waves as a cool tropical breeze keeps your beer nice and frosty. Something to think about.

In Florida we had, Florida State Prison(FSP), and Union Correctional Institution (UCI). UCI has since been torn down, i believe. But, those two prisons were different. I transported dudes to UCI numerous times. Been down to death row twice at FSP. Back in the day, those two places were where the convicts were at, unless, they were programming, getting short to the house, or had some sort of akill that was needed at another institution.

I just got out of lock down in 915. Here it's about respect and respecting veteranos and understanding that that's their home your just a guest. "Dale shine" no responde no yes sir, it's implicit that you fly as an eagle and make the veteranos proud of what you learned by watching them. They fought the front lines and understanding that no matter how hard you try you can never sacrifice as hard as they did never. Any car any gang we are one united against the pussyfooted that smirks when you can't figure out how to call your lawyer. There is power in respect. Numbers....the 4th book of Moses. We all get stuck in the 3rd act Leviticus...Moses meant that as comic relief.

Twelve years before the OJ Simpson verdict in 1994, Alan Dershowitz in his book, The Best Defense (1982), chronicled the key rules of the justice game: Rule I: Almost all criminal defendants are, in fact, guilty. Rule II: All criminal defense lawyers, prosecutors and judges understand and believe Rule I. Rule III: It is easier to convict guilty defendants by violating the Constitution than by complying with it, and in some cases it is impossible to convict guilty defendants without violating the Constitution. Rule IV: Almost all police lie about whether they violated the Constitution in order to convict guilty defendants. Rule V: All prosecutors, judges, and defense attorneys are aware of Rule IV. Rule VI: Many prosecutors implicitly encourage police to lie about whether they violated the Constitution in order to convict guilty defendants. Rule VII: All judges are aware of Rule VI. Rule VIII: Most trial judges pretend to believe police officers who they know are lying. Rule IX: All appellate judges are aware of Rule VIII, yet many pretend to believe the trial judges who pretend to believe the lying police officers. Rule X: Most judges disbelieve defendants about whether their constitutional rights have been violated, even if they are telling the truth. Rule XI: Most judges and prosecutors would not knowingly convict a defendant who they believe to be innocent of the crime charged (or a closely related crime). Rule XII: Rule XI does not apply to members of organized crime, drug dealers, career criminals, or potential informers. Rule XIII: Nobody really wants justice. 1 Alan M. Dershowitz, The Best Defense (New York: Random House, 1982), xxi-xxii. We gratefully acknowledgement Random House for permission to reprint. Copyright OUP 2013 But, justice is all that the public is allowed to seek, legally, unless they want to find themselves subject to these 13 rules. What it all boils down to, is the people that we promote for law enforcement at the street level, have the ability to place anyone they choose on the conveyor belt of American justice. And the constitution be damned. Online criminal justice degrees are cheap, convenient and heavily discounted to armed services veterans. Once again, the wrong people are Law and order proponents point to the fact that we all can hire a lawyer of our choice and defend ourselves. What’s the problem? It’s not the laws themselves (theses truths that we find self evident), but the their application (the judges) that void our civil rights. Just about anybody (everybody?) that needs legal representation can’t afford it. My bail for leaving my mother’s house messy during construction was over $200,000. That’s a $20,000 (10% bond premium) fine, just for getting arrested. You can’t get that back, even with a not guilty verdict. That money would come in handy for an attorney retainer. Try hiring a lawyer with no money or property assets - you get what you pay for. There is a tremendous difference between ambitious lawyer and a compassionate sociologist working within the government welfare system. There are no compassionate attorneys that will work for nothing. The public defenders are absolutely worthless, they don’t even function as reliable messengers of the DAs office. I could not get my public defenders to even let me see the charges leveled against me in two felony trials.

Buenos dias, Respetos de siempre ✌🏻😎 Just wanted to concur on the humor of the good old “How Pelican Bay is” line. I remember being told that same story when I was New Folsom Ad/Seg waiting on the chain about the mail, showers etc. I arrived in February of ‘91 and four years later we had received another bus load like they used to do every week. These youngsters pulled up in our pod in C-10 one evening and I was the tier tender but I didn’t come out the following morning because maintenance were supposed to come fix the ceiling lights that morning. They came in right after tray pick up and they had the motorized lift. It was apparent that these youngsters went back to their bunks because when the lift came in of course it sounded mechanical and then we heard in Spanish and in a panic like voice:” Get up! Here comes the showers!” And you know how it echoes in the pods, right? And the youngster that spoke did try not to be heard but the entire pod broke out in laughter! We had a blast with them throughout the day with that. In fact the Camarada that had told me that same fib ended up landing in the cell right next to me a year after I left him at Folsom. I thought I’d share this little memory with you and your subscribers. You have a great and blessed day, Sigue Adelante! Con Respetos Siempre 🙏🏽✌🏻😎✊🏼🇲🇽☝🏻Q-Vo!😉

Pelican Bay blue print came from a new prison in New Mexico in the 80’s. CDC sent a group of the planning and construction with custody staff to New Mexico. We opened in Nov 03 1989. I hit the five yards, A,B,C,D and E I was there for only about three years but going to other joints, CTF, PVSP, SVSP and agian at CTF. I like you the way you explain yourself. NO BULLSHIT. I got to know the heavies from all makes and models.

All prisons suck! RAZA NEEDS TO COME TOGETHER ONCE AND FOR ALL. ALL THAT SERIOUSNESS AND FALSE POLITICS HAS TO CHANGE. TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS BUT EVERYONE SHOULD REAP THE BENEFITS OF PUTTING IN WORK. DONT LET ANYONE GET HOOKED ON ANY TYPE OF DOPE FOR HIDDEN AGENDAS. BUILD A HOMIE AND SEE THE LOYALTY, BREAK A HOMIE AND SEE SELFISH EVIL MINDS.

Dubs, if you don’t mind me asking. If you were to get sent back, would your homies be upset with you for this whole RU-vid gig you got going? I know you haven’t been specific about what not and what not but honesty, would you be worried?

Man I don't know about other places in the U.S. but I've been in some of our roughest jails in different states in Australia and 1 stabbing would be enough to close the yard. It never ceases to amaze me that this country that puts out all this propaganda about democracy and freedom can have so little compassion for segments of their own population. I had a little chuckle when you talk about how annoying this dude is because when you're locked down with someone for a long time it's like a kind of madness can set in and you can start getting annoyed to the point of serious anger over the stupidist stuff. It seems to be universal that where the real heavy people are people have the most respect. People turn the T.V down after a certain time, use manners, look after each other. It's interesting listening to you share your experiences and comparing what is the same about how people behave in different places, I guess it's weird, even though California is obviously a heavier version of what I went through I can relate to a lot of the things you talk about in a way that I could never expect a lot of people to understand, anyway lost track of whatever I wanted to say but love hearing your insights, take care bro

Fast foward been lockdown plenty times since then. Now Im 32 and I dont have no regrets. Always blessed and striving. As a youngster I seen myself going to PB, but it never happened.

Did any guards ever show true humanity? As in maybe slide anyone some lunch they weren’t gonna finish? Just curious. It would be beyond me to watch humans suffer like that.
