I just bought one, took it out today and pretty happy with it. I had a couple pedal drives before but had to sell them and figured I'd give this a shot with the motor.

Me too. I have seen several videos but they are all with trolling motors. I have a little Yamaha 2.5 that meets their specs but I have yet to see any gas powered motor mounted on one. Makes you wonder if it is possible but not the ideal setup for this boat so they don't want to showcase that aspect.

We have tested a 2.5 hp gas motor and it handled well. But you do need to balance out your weight if you want to take advantage of the full Max Capacity of 450lb.

Yea, that does seem a little hokey. The rest of the boat seems well thought out. They kind of dropped the ball in the front end.

I love your videos and just got my own pelican catch power 100. I’m having trouble finding a good sized battery that will fit in the day hatch, and power my 36lb trolling motor for long days on the water. Do you have any recommendations? Im new to the kayaking game.

Hey great choice! The Catch pwr is a great fun boat! I personally would save some money and buy an Amped Outdoors lithium battery 60ah , it is expensive but only weights 13 pounds and will last twice as long a normal Battery, it is super small too! Boat needs to be at least 1ft longer. Steering seems a bit uncomfortable with the tiller positioned in the middle of your back - Pelican engineers earn your money and come up with a solution!

It has a 360-degree seat... on a sliding track. The back can also tilt further back, which then curves perfectly under your arm providing excellent support. ;-)

Obviously not meant as an offshore boat but even rivers and bays can become rough when the wind comes up. Impressed that Pelican is releasing so many new (and good) products. Great work.

It seems a little awkward with you twisted sideways driving that thing. Do you think an actual 2.5 gas motor would be convenient since it has the swivel seat? The Bass 100 seems to have really addressed the steering issue. But the Pelican does have a swivel seat. I already own the outboard motor but I would hate to spend that kind of money for the boat and find out it's kinda awkward to steer and troll.
