Here's the latest viewer-submitted What's in Your Kit episode featuring Washington, D.C.-based freelance audio technician Nataniel Rosov of Roamer Productions. Nathaniel has a well-thought-out kit with some unique gear and homemade adapters. I like his approach to A/C power adapters and tools, and his Knipex shears are going on my shopping list immediately.
In this series, production technicians like you send in these videos, and everyone is welcome to participate. Contact info@dcsoundop.com if you'd like to be in an upcoming video. You can link files through Dropbox, drive, WeTransfer, or whatever works for you. You can send raw or edited files. The only rule is, please don't include any music in the edit.

The LED Strip idea i also got from somebody else in the channel. Great Runthru I'm happy my bag is so similar to most of the peops here.

Ubiquiti Unifi flex mini is an even smaller switch, usbc or poe powered, and it's managed.

Great suggestion just in time for Christmas. I've been looking for a USB-powered mini switch.

I’d love to see a video on the thigh pouch. I’m trying to put one together for myself but I haven’t found one I like yet.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he has that setup too... hopefully there will be a follow-up somewhere down the road from Nathaniel. Thanks for watching.

Realizing how useful a thigh pouch would be. What would you recommend for AV type work? Ones I see are either small tactical bags or big open tool pockets.

Nice kit, can tell how well organized you are. One thing that I put in my kit and it’s not bulletproof by any means is a small what they call Kensington lock. It looks like a little bicycle lock… Whenever I get to the venue once I figure out where I’m going to be working out of I’ll strap my box to an electrical conduit on a wall or something that can’t be moved without damaging the venue… As long as I know that I haven’t left it in anybody’s way. It’s not foolproof, but it would keep somebody from just rolling off with my box. Yes, having an AirTag and there is a good solution to see where it went but you might find it out back with all the stuff going out of it. This way you can lock it to where they can’t easily carry it away. I also keep a padlock for if I go on a lunch break or something then I’ll close it and throw the lock on it to make sure people are not pilfering things out of it or just nosing around in it. I don’t necessarily keep it locked while I’m around in case I need somebody to get something out of it for me, but if I’m not going to be around for an hour, I’ll definitely throw a lock on it and have it chained to the wall.

I carry a kensington lock too, absoltuley essential in my opinion. Thanks for watching & for the message!

Everyone should have zip tie cutters or those knipex scissors. I’ve injured my index finger very badly when cutting a zip tie.

Zip-tie cuts can be brutal!

Oh yes, I agree nobody should be using any kind of blade to be cutting zip ties. Even if you don’t cut your finger, you could end up slicing the cable and that could be a costly repair if not in money in time. Much better off to use a pair of clippers which don’t take up very much room at all, and they don’t have to be fancy, if you’re on a budget they can be five dollar ones from Harbor freight.

What size is this peli? It looks like a smaller one, but there's a LOT in there.

Pretty sure it's just a 1510, but hopefully Nathaniel will see these questions when he's got some time & can let us know. Thanks for watching as always & for the questions!

Hey Colin, thanks for catching that. Looks like in the editing I accidentally cut that part out and didn't realize it until now. Whoops 😅 I'm planning on making a part 2 for the rest of my equipment so I'll make sure to include that missing section
