Pelikan M200 Pastel Green fountain pen review.
I love the Pelikan M200/M205 fountain pens. This Pelikan M200 Pastel Green ( a Special Edition from 2020) fountain pen is a different, Summery colour and the broad nib writes really well.
The piston filling mechanism works well and it holds a decent quantity of ink.

Hi Rob. I bought one of these as well. Mine is the same colour but I think I got the medium nib. It's a beautiful pen in the pastel green finish. I haven't ventured any further up the Pelikan pen hierarchy. I am quite content with my little M200.

The M200 might be my favorite pen, period. That nib is my definition of perfect and I still recall gasping the first time I wrote with it. I have this very one and the classic green marbled one. At least one is inked at all times. As a card carrying member of the "little hands club" the size of this is on the money. I actually have a difficult time finding pens that aren't comically large for me. That's been a big reason why I shifted my buying to vintage pens, the new market keeps making them bigger and bigger. This is a winner for those of us that suffer from "teeny syndrome." 😊

Me too! Small hands with arthritis. Eco is my most comfy pen. I got a gift card and was thinking of a Twsbi mini but it weights 19gm with the cap. Or the 580. While just one gram heavier than the Eco (not posting of course) it is bigger around I think. Small hands decisions. Will look into this Pelikan though.

@@SilverSeaOT7 this Pelikan is also much easier to cap/uncap and post than any TWSBI pen.

I bought this pen in Golden Beryl last week. I chose and extra fine nib. I love the pen. It's become part of my everyday carry pen group. It's and almost pocket pen when capped but when uncapped, it's about the same length as my Parker 61. I just loved this pen. It's so much fun to use. I also use it for drawing because of the extra fine nib. I would recommend this pen to anyone. Oh, and it holds a whole lot of ink!

I have one of these in the same finish and with a broad nib. It is fantastic. I pair it with Edelstein Jade.

Have some M200. Have not used them much lately, as they look small to me... but they are good writers.

Yes, that pen would go well with a linen suit in the summer in New Mexico.

I have an M205 pen. It is a lovely pen. Beautiful resin. With the steel nib, it is also a great writer. It is very responsive. If I could find the incredible price that you found, perhaps I would have more than one, lol. I do like the transparency of the barrel. I think Pelikan did make a demonstrator years ago. It is a bit small and I would prefer the larger 400 or 600. If they were offered those models with a steel nib, I would buy them! Great review.

Many thanks! There are and have been a large number of Pelikan demonstrators, if these interest you.

The M200 and the M400 are the same size. The only difference is that the M400 has a gold nib, while the M200/205 nib is steel.

Great deals can provide that little nudge, can't they? 😉 Though different color and overall shape, the barrel kind of harks back to the preferred pen of Albert Einstein, the Gunther Wagner Pelikan 100N. Pattern and chatoyance. Great looking pen at an exceptional price AND it writes well. Who could ask for anything more? 😁 As to pocket pens: IMO, it fits in a shirt or jacket pocket but bigger than fits comfortably in a waistcoat pocket it's not the original definition for a pocket pen. Clip doesn't work for trousers pockets? Not a pocket pen. The modern trend towards oversize or larger pens really has skewed the definition of "pocket pen." (I have yet to own a shirt that the pocket doesn't fit a 12-15 cm pen. The size of most pens before the modern oversize obsession. Have several without a pocket, but that's why I own waistcoats. And use traditional sized pocket pens with them. Partial to an old Sheaffer's 5-30 flattop or my frankenpen Good Service with a Weidlich nib. 😁)

Surprised to see the size comparison between the M200 and Lamy Safari. I've only ever purchased the M600 size as didn't want an oversize or a pocket pen - which as you demonstrate, this Pelikan really isn't that small. I may pick up one of these or an M400 now. I noticed you never fold over the orange cover of the Rhodia pads and in this video used your hand to hold it back. They do have the scored lines to allow wrapping over the top so it sits flat behind the paper. Maybe you knew this and choose not to use it - just something I'd noticed a few times!

I never back fold my pads, there’s no real need to do so and it knackers the covers for when I insert the covers into a leather case. Love your username BTW!

@@FountainPenJourney ahh, ok. This makes sense! Didn't realise you were using a leather case. And haha :) thank you! The Man in Black is one of my all-time favourites.
