This video from a male perspective really help me understand the difference of the bikes because I am looking to tone up. When I am ready to purchase I will aim to remember to come to your link since you gave a good education on the bikes. I was wondering if you have any videos on the ProForm bike as well I was looking at those I will look through your channel to see if you have those reviews as well. Thank you for taking the time to educate. I highly enjoyed it and valued it! 🙂
My wife and I have had the Nordic Track S22i and completly in love with it. I use the outdoor trails, while she likes the studio classes. We've owned it for a year.... Thank god we ordered it right before the pandemic and were able to get a great workout while the gyms were closed. I'd def recommend the S22i to anyone, who wants a great product.
FYI: the family plan for the nordictrack is $40/month. This includes 5 riders total (I think, might be 4). But the individual plan is $180/year. They put you on the family plan automatically and you have to call them to change it to the individual plan.
BEST BIKE COMPARISON YET!!!! I’ve been trying to figure out which bike is best for me and you’ve done a really great job at explaining and DEMONSTRATING each bikes offerings. Now I plan to watch your other videos to compare a few other options I’m looking at. Thanks for this!!! Much appreciated
I have 2 S22is and love them. One has almost 4500 miles in three years. I've replaced the bottom brackets on both but would have done so on my real bikes much sooner. Very easy to work on. The coaches and trails are incredible. Pitting your times against literally thousands of folks around the world is the best motivator.. and you can ride in your VANS!!!
Where did you buy it? I see a lot of crap reviews about their customer service. Is this a great machine to lose weights? I want to be careful before spending $2k.
All your videos of the Nordic Track S22i studio and its comparison with the Peloton Bike Plus are great. Very useful to make a decision as to which bike I am going to get. Despite the negative associated with the Nordic Track, I am leaning towards that option as what appeals most to me is riding outdoor trails. Thanks Great job!
Thankyou!!! I’ve just cancelled my peloton order and ordered the Nordic as I really wanted the google maps features. I can’t wait try use it!! Great comparison just what I needed before it was too late!!
Your summary at 28:30 makes the decision so much easy to choose the right bike. Outdoor feeling = S22i Vs Studio class = Peloton. The dilemma for me was finding out an authorised opinion about the nearest-real-ride vs spin-static-bike… I love riding uphill so u just helped me in feeling comfortable with my decision. Thank you! 🙏🏼
I have the nordictrack s22i, the only thing I wish it had is adjustable handlebars so you could slide it forward and back, and also rotate the bars more toward you. Other than that I've had great performance from my bike for the first full year!
I’ve been waiting weeks for this. I love your videos and I’ve been watching that NordicTrack box in your apartment for ages. I’ve got the s22i and love it. There’s no peloton in Australia and I just bought 3 years of iFit in Black Friday for $59 on Amazon. Also, just today iFit have sorted out their music law suit and all the popular modern music is back!!! No more elevator music
Wow, wish I would have seen that music update before uploading this! 3 years of ifit for $59 is quiet the bargain! Thanks for your comment Thomas, happy riding!
@@matthewclarke5008 yep. Peloton was such a rip off. I managed to get iFit codes from Amazon AUSTRALIA during their Black Friday special 1 year for just $12. They only let me buy three of them.
I love this unbiased review! Each bike seems to have excellent features that would appeal to certain users. This helped me decide to cancel my nordictrack order (which was not easy or cheap) and go with the Peloton instead. I’m really happy with my decision. Thank you for doing such in depth reviews so we can make informed decisions. :)
@@ericafloreshastings6284 I love it! I got the tread as well and do tend to use it more than my bike but it’s because I prefer running in general. I love the variety of classes and much prefer peloton’s platform as far as organization and instructors are concerned. I’ve had both since October and don’t regret my purchase at all.
Ive heard and seen reviews where people say the iFit app is terrible and music so outdated with classes. Also to be clear,I have heard that this Nordic Bike does NOT have bluetooth connectivity, so you have to find a hack workaround. Other than that, like he said depends what you are into, outdoor ride experience and incline decline gimmick, or Peloton with the Better App navigation and experience plus superior indoor spin classes. the regular Peloton Bike is now discounted to under $1600.
[2 years on, I know. Stationary bikes remain a thing] How is the incline function a gimmick? Improving your performance on hills is one of the most important goals of a cyclist using a stationary bike.
Great review, both bikes are awesome. I went with the S22I because it has 35 on board programs so your not forced to pay for IFIT. I've also seen a video of how to add Netflix, not saying I will but pretty cool. The auto adjust incline and decline feature is really cool, plus I like the simulation of outdoor riding. They even installed a fan.... I've heard the Peloton instructors are awesome as well as the community so it was tough but went with the S22I. Its being shipped as I type, cant wait! Thanks for your review.
Really great review, I'm enjoying your content. I would add to the NordicTrack as someone who is a user and really loves the bike, they do have some quality control problems. I bought the bike earlier this year and I went for about 4 months where I was not able to use the bike due to the resistance not registering, and the inclined decline feature not working. They needed to order me a new circuit board which took about two months to receive. I then held to wait another three or four weeks for a service call. The only other issue I've had is about every 25 rides, I will have the monitor shut down and restart and I ride, which is upsetting. My understanding is that NordicTrack has some quality control issues more than other bikes. With that stated when the whole thing works, I really love the bike. I'm also likely going to be purchasing the Costco ProForm rower and my membership with NordicTrack will extend to that ProForm machine making the membership that much better of a deal.
S22i now does have bluetooth to connect airpods, etc. That upgrade/enhancement happened about mid-December. Pretty nice upgrade. I never use the built-in speakers. Also, people say the incline/decline is a marketing gimic, but I really enjoy it, especially on some of the Tour de France, etc... rides ... feels real to me.
This is one of the best comparison videos you’ve done and definitely the best comparison video done on these two bikes anywhere. Thank you!!! Having said that, I went with the Bike+ and got it (finally) delivered on 12/7/20 after many ups and downs of their delivery commitments. I’m really enjoying the rides on the Bike+ and I believe I’m getting a better workout than in an actual gym spin class, but it’s been 9 months + since I’ve been there. One of the reasons why I went with the Bike+ over the Nordictrak S22i is the maintenance issues on the S22i. Perhaps you can address that topic in a future video to dispel the myths and facts? Again - thank you!
enjoy the bike+! i have a hard time deciding whether to get on the bike+ or s22i when its time for my actual workout ride. tonight i chose the s22i and did an instructor led outdoor ride in france, i really like the outdoor scenic rides they have to offer, its a nice change of pace from peloton studio rides, which are great. thanks for the compliment, and i will address an maintenance issues i encounter!
@@TailHappyTV the outdoor rides were one of my determining factors for going with NordicTrack S22i. I bought mine from Best Buy which had a longer maintenance contract plus 10% discount because I bought it last month which was my birthday month with a free 1 year iFit membership. I like the studio classes and I love that resistance and incline are set for you with the option to manually adjust.
Peloton Bike plus also have the option to adjust the resistance by trainer or manually. I purchased the Bike Plus for the speakers, studio instructors are second to none, and the Peloton Community is just awesome!
I bought the s22i using your link. So glad I found it too I was able to spand the cost in to 5 payments! I love the outdoor workouts, that and breaking it into 5 payments sold me. This is going to be perfect with my conqueror challenge events!
@@Anna-nt3us awesome!! I’m glad to know you’re still loving it. I thought I wanted the Pelaton but after seeing the review and comments from Nordic Track buyers , I was sold 😁 can’t wait to start using it often and she’s shed some lbs lol
@@problemz2solve I love it!! Been using it almost everyday since it was delivered Oct of last year 😁😁I’m down some LBS for sure paired with weight training and on a KeTo/low carb 💪🏽
Nice review! Summary: The Nordic is a bit more silent until you use any of the features that make it unique (fan, hill simulation). Lol. Also it feels a bit like the Peloton is the iPhone and the Nordic the Android... Not only from the price perspective but also from the "how much they cared to do smooth out the details"... I mean the speakers at the Nordic do work but... well. They are just added there so they could make a tick at that checklist item.
Thank you so much for commenting on your height! I am 6'5 too and have been putting off purchasing one of these because i was concerned they may be too small
Peloton had $600 off for week of black friday. Grabbed the non plus model with all the accessories for 1225 plus tax. Can't wait to try it out. Obviously the bike plus is better, but didn't want to spend the extra 1k.
What makes the + "better", is purely subjective. I was going to buy the + but then opted for the original bike instead, the differences were not even close to being worth the extra cost. I stream to my 70" TV if I'm doing any of the extra classes, I Bluetooth all sound to my studio speakers, and I have no problem adjusting my resistance manually. The bike + is overpriced in my opinion.
Wow! Thanks! That's amazing, I hope you love the s22i, it's a great bike. Prepare yourself for the assembly, it's quite a task compared to most bikes I've built. I made a video with assembly tips too. Enjoy and thanks again!
Excellent review. Just had my first experience with a Peloton at a Hilton I was staying and love, love, loved it! However, I also have a NordicTrack treadmill that's about 15 years old and runs like a champ. The mediocre sound system is easily remedied by the great stand alone bluetooth speakers I already have that would blow away any internal speaker system anyway - so that advantage in my mind is a wash. Adjustable incline, better outdoor biking experience and a $750 Facebook Marketplace price? It's NordicTrack for me.
Something else to consider, current NordicTrack S22i Studio cycle orders are also delayed. I am in week 8 waiting for my delivery. It's due to be delivered next week but those dates keep getting pushed out. I ordered the bike in late November. One big reason I chose NordicTrack was the significant shipment delays projected by Peloton.
@@TailHappyTV Just a couple of questions concerning the s22i.. Does it have blue tooth connectivity for wireless headphones and does it have the dual band (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz) for Wifi? Norditrack has another version of this bike thats 2299.00 and the description of it states all new enhanced features, better wifi and bluetooth, but if you see the 1999 version the description doesn't say those features but Norditrack swears the 1999.00 version is the latest 2021 model and I just don't see how.. if you go to their website and click on the magnifying glass for search, type in "s22i" , hit enter and you will see the 2299 version..
I struggled with the same issues as you. I bought the S22i in 2019. I had a few issues with it in the beginning. While their customer service sucks, they do send you the replacement parts. Once I ironed out the issues early on, the bike has performed beautifully. Also, IFit continues to add more and more rides with huge variety. I have tried the peleton but truthfully love the options with the S22i. Good luck.
Your review is so in depth, thank you! I’m struggling with deciding what bike I will eventually buy. Like you, I’m on the taller side at 6’4”. Now that I’ve had a second knee surgery I really need a bike but it seems that there isn’t a bike that has it all quite yet.
The Nordictrack bikes have been suffering badly with reliability issues. Mine broke after 3 rides. Terrible customer service when I tried to get a repair.
I was a NordicTrack and ProForm exercise equipment repair man. The big problem is finding technicians who can work on all the different models made by the company. They've been making equipment for years and then you have the new stuff. My territory was in the Washington DC metropolitan area. When I signed up with the company the first day they sent me 85 customers. I was completely overwhelmed. There was some weeks when I drove over a thousand miles. I remember some of those new a bike's having issues right out of the box. It was a simple fix but nevertheless extremely aggravating to a customer to pay that amount of money for a bike and get your hopes all up and then it doesn't work. If you are still having issues let me know I still have a relationship with the company but I got to be too old to do that much running around.
@@paysour3 Thanks Michael. I gave up eventually. Decided to go with Peloton eventually. But it took months and months before Icon were prepared to refund my money and cancel the credit agreement. Terrible service.
Thank you for your thorough review! Decided to go with the Peloton bike (not plus), since I'm new to bike riding as an exercise and it does EVERYTHING I would need! Went into a Peloton store to get further info on the bike. With the deal, paid $1,800 including 2 shoes, mat with a $100 coupon towards the purchase of 1 shoe😎
Watching the video, you seem to struggle more on the Peloton at maximum resistance. It looks harder for you to do. So, just by watching I’d say the Peloton is harder. I like the incline/decline feature on the S22i, but I’m worried about it breaking. Worried a lot. Plus, I’m not a fan of the noise. It’s such a hard decision.
Had the S22i for 2 months now after my long comparison between the two bikes. The incline/decline I barely hear as I am riding and with music and trainer talk....plus it feels solid as ever. Much more of a realistic ride with auto resistance control and decline/incline based on the terrain I am in. Best decision for me!
@@problemz2solve absolutely! No regrets in my decision and they even have a newer model out now with a better screen, newer inline/decline system and better sound system.
Love the review and it diffidently helped sway my purchase. But one important side note; I love my Shimano pedals too. But Peloton voids your warranty with any pedals except there own.
I am a avid studio spinner (at least before the pandemic) and recently purchased the S22i - unfortunately the power adapter did not work and I had to replace the bike - the S22i is poorly designed bike - it is an unstable bike when riding hard in 2nd and 3rd positions - the wobble is terrible which is due to the incline/decline design and being very top heavy - the wobble is so bad that u cannot watch the screen (yes it is assembled correctly and in fact I had their technician at my house to examine it and he took video to send to Nordictrack). Other comments, the screen is NOT very responsive to touch - the bars do not adjust horizontal (Soulcycle bike does BTW) - the S22i does NOT have a switch (Nordictrack wants u to unplug the bike after use - this is stupid) - I would NOT recommend the S22i - a few other things, Nordictrack’s customer service has been terrible - sound quality from the screen is poor, “studio” iFiT classes are not very good. I am returning the replacement S22i.
Have you ever tried a maximum sprint effort on both bikes? What watts do they register up to? How stable do they feel? Thanks! Keep up the helpful content.
I bought my bike directly from Nordic Track. Shp/hndlg got it down from $100, to $50 Also, got free financing for 2 yrs and 4 or 5 yrs of Ifit membership for $400 had the bike for 5 months and love it. Better than Peloton IMO
I’m a repair tech and I can tell you I get SO many more calls for NordicTrack. That goes for all of their stuff. And their tech support is bloody awful. I do think peloton is overpriced junk too, but at least it works most of the time.
S22i all the way! Peloton feels just like a standard bike in my opinion. For its price range without the incline/decline and not to mention the fan and the scenic view following the trainer outdoor is superb. It feels so real just like the Hydrow Rowing. definitely the S22i for me. It’s super smooth and extremely quiet. I just can’t see myself spending $2000.00+ for a bike that doesn’t have more features and looks like Schwinn IC3. Just my opinion. At this time, the S22i and Hydrow are the only machines out there worth spending money. They mimic realistic feel outdoor and unique features. If you gonna spend $2000.00+ might as well get the features you won’t get from other competitors and more. Good review tho.
@@ahmedjartu1131 If you’re worried about more features of technology, then why not just get Concept 2. I don’t hear Nordictrack getting sued for its price because of incline/ decline features. So far, nobody lost a life yet or being bankrupt using Nordictrack. Just saying.
Thanks for your perspective on the S22i. It’s encouraging because of all the different opinions that make it seem like I may have made a bad decision 😬😅 I just ordered mine today!! 😊
There is absolutely no comparison between the two companies behind the two bikes. I have had a peloton bike and NordicTrack treadmill for a couple of years now. Peloton...very few issues all resolved promptly by Peloton. NordicTrac treadmill has had nothing but major issues the entire time making it unusable most of the time. Dealing with customer service is beyond a nightmare. I am not some ass that just looks for a reason to complain. Do a tiny bit of research and you will see NordicTrack has a definite reputation for poor quality and even worse customer service.
One thing that stood out for me with the instructor led studio classes just from your video, the background with the iFit classes (to me) is horrible. That crazy looking rave background would give me a serious headache and be very distracting. The Peloton class, it's the instructor in a studio. All your focus is brought to the instructor. Great video though comparing the two.
nordic track is a better product overall....however i am concerned about my knees........incline/ decline usage overtime will have a toll on my knees......also for a spin bike, .......you get maximum traction when you wear cleats....nordic track has only clips...In addition, i have a road bike.....i can hop on local bicycle trail when it is nice outside......the only thing that is a major drawback with peloton is the price tag...however the features i am getting(better resolution, wider screen, latest technological updates, sleek , chic styling of bike) makes it worth it
NordicTrack: better bike and better real-world biking videos Peloton: better "spin class" videos because of the gimmick with LIVE classes and live leader-board. I personally like the gimmick of the Peloton the most.. just wish it was built like the NordicTrack probably won't ever commit to buying it because of this reason.
Wow I’m leaning towards the Nordic but they both seem great so I still can’t decide lol… so does Nordic have an actual internet browser to use like the peloton does? If so then then I’d go with the Nordic because I love the auto incline feature
It was my understanding that the Peloton Plus now supports iFit. So, you have the best of both worlds with the Plus, in terms of the instructor lead trainings and studio classes. Is this correct?
Thank you so much for such a thorough review. I just subscribed to your page. Do you notice the screen wobbling a lot when out of the saddle? I'm deciding between the S22i or S15i and was wondering if the screen wobbles too much on the S22i since it's so big. Thank you!
Thanks! Theres def a slight wobble to it but honestly hardly even noticable and similar to the peloton bike+, when your riding there is kind of a wobbly and sway to you, the bike, the screen, everything, it's all in a cohesive motion
@tailhappytv thank you for the GREAT video review. I have one question. At 5:19, what is the specific model shoes you got because the ones in the link in comment do not look the same and the ones in the video are sweet. Thank you again as I was on the fence w this decision and I went with the S22i and am thrilled w it. The 1yr iFit gives my wife and I a chance to see if we “need” or even like classes, but we wanted a top feature bike that will ride without and your review sealed it for us.
I want the iFit Scenic rides and the peloton studio classes!! I want to buy a NordicTrack or Pro form bike but I heard their customer service is HORRIBLE
Great Video! Keep up the content. Quick question: If I just wanted a bike similiar to these but without the screens what would you recommend. I don't need a screen. (TV in the future gym) I would like to just subscribe monthly to different services instead of being stuck with either of these.
Great comparison! I'm going to check to see if you compare any recumbent bikes. Thanks I've been told that iFit has levels 1- something. This past year I've had knee and hip replacements so need to start very basic with high hopes to get into the higher levels. How would you describe Level 1?
Folks are primarily purchasing these bikes for the software and support imho. I think this is where peleton reigns Supreme. Similar to the iPhone effect.
Would love to hear your thoughts on zwift. Here in Canada a high end wahoo kickr setup that you attach your own bike to is about 2500. The peloton is 3500 here. Having said that I’m looking for a indoor zwift bike and wondered which bike you would recommend for that purpose. Thx.
The max incline with max resistance on the Nordictrack looks more awkward than the Peloton. At the gym, I kind of lean down on the bike with my arms as resistance increases. Is that not possible on the Nordictrack?
Your reviews have made me do more research into buying a spin bike. I am leaning towards bowflex6. What do you think of sunny health af-b1986 spin bike. Do you think it is on par with bowflex or schwinn ic4.
Jason... you own a $2,000 bike and didn't check to see if the handle bars adjust!? you crack me up brother... didn't you have to put that handlebars on when you built the bike? lol, happy riding dude!
@@TailHappyTV LOL! I thought I checked. I figured you may have gotten an updated version. Nope. Mines actually does adjust. 🤦🏿♂️ I've logged almost 3000 miles on this thing and didn't know. Ah Well. Thanks for the video.
I'm also 6'5" --- but I've got 100 pounds on you. I've used the Peloton, and it's rock solid for a BIG rider, but I'm not thrilled with the upright, stationary-bike style ergonomics. What's your sense of the rigidity of the S22i? In the max resistance section, it looked like the S22i was flexing under your (relatively) diminutive weight.
I love the destination rides on my proform with the IFIT program. Need recommendations for pedals and shoes. I think I should switch out my pedals on my proform bike to help with my foot position.
