Hey Kermick, it’s Jason. I was looking at ifit reviews and a nordictrack elliptical and this came up. Was definitely surprised to see you. Great to “see and hear” you.
Jason Schatz hey Jason! Good hear from you. I decided to create my first ever video after I saw nothing on NordicTrack S22i bike I purchased. It’s been fun reading comments and feedback.
it looks like the bike has done good, you look to be in great shape, and aside from some minor issues like tightening the screws, you really like the bike. anyway i commend you on your cross country ride for cancer. I am already donating to another organization for testicular cancer. thanks for your review. dk
Nice review. I just got mine. Two rides so far. The installer stripped the screw head on the seat angle adjustment so it’s stuck way too high and really uncomfortable but I’m impressed by the features so far
Brittany Dixon we tried that. I can ride but uncomfortable. My wife rode once and was bruised. Over three weeks and still not fixed. They really try everything not to take care of customer
Thank you for reviewing this bike! I am still deciding which bike to get- and this is helpful as reviews for this bike are hard to find. All I seem to get are professional reviews saying the bike is great, but that the customer service is.... sub par. I really love the idea of this bike, I hope they can pull through and offer the customer service touted by peleton
@Cindy Novak I actually went with a Sunny Bike with magnetic belt drive. My chromebook fits great on the device holder and I use my phone paired with a wahoo sensor for my cadence/hr. I wasn't sure I wanted to pull the trigger on the Peloton with the higher monthly app cost. Also, after reading about them pushing them the newer generation and ending the updates for the older one I was more apprehensive- I really didn't want to end up spending 2,000 on a bike every 2-3 years AND the monthly cost of the app. I've been using the Peloton app with my Sunny bike since October and so far I'm loving it- the metrics would be nice to have for motivation, but I don't find myself missing them.
I did notice that too. The instructors instruction isn’t always in sync. Just did a hiit style workout and on the recovery phase the incline and resistance stayed the same but the rpm’s actually increased! I was working harder on the recovery phase! I was drenched in sweat after that workout lol.
How is the Google Maps function with IFit? The idea of riding a bike thru hundreds thousands of famous cities I can't afford to otherwise visit is pretty appealing. Would love to learn more about that.
@@melabellazayas Any kind of blutooth dongle will work, they make a ton of different kinds. Chances are your preferred headphone manufacturer may make a blutooth adapter, buying that one will likely work out best.
It does have Bluetooth. You have to activate privileged mode and then go into android settings and then link up your headphones through the blue tooth option
Peloton seem to have their tech together (you can just cast the display to your tv wirelessly with no HDMI cable), but the bike seems inferior. NordicTrack seems like a better bike, but no bluetooth or screencasting is a deal breaker for me. I wish I could just find a bike and online service bundle which didn't have some sort of obvious flaw
@@sethschroeder I eventually ruled the NordickTrack out, after I came to the conclusion the automated incline thing was a bit of a useless gimmick (and more likely to be the first thing to break). This also ruled out iFit. I ended up getting a Peleton a few weeks later, and I gotta say Im pretty happy with it.
@@antoinettethompson7543 It depends on what model you have. It sounds like he has a 2018 model, but I did some research and found out the new models are Bluetooth capable.
Thanks Kermick! My wife is looking at Pelaton and just from my preliminary searching it appears that this NordicTrack and Pelaton are really close in features. The HDMI out to me is HUGE because this may go in a room with that eventually has a 75 HDTV or even a Projector. I wouldn't mind beaming the video to the larger TV for outdoor scenery this is done easy by transmitters from ActionTec. Bluetooth transmitters are very cheap like Holden says ...it's easy to get a battery powered transmitter that can be Velcro'd to the cycle out of sight out of mind.
I wish you would post more videos, they are very helpful. I am on the fence between this and the Peloton bike. I find the lack of reviews/videos for the S22i a bit concerning. The ones that I have found seem to be by NordicTrack reps. I also have found some reviews where people got the S22i, liked it briefly, and then returned it for the Peloton for various reasons. I like this bike for the price and the outdoor videos. The lack of live classes is disappointing. It's been a while since you've posted a video... but are you still enjoying it?
THEtvExPerT Thanks. Glad you found my videos helpful. I was torn between the two bikes as well. But, went with S22i for the reasons in my videos. I am still really enjoying the S22i. Use it all the time. Was on it yesterday. I have heard that live classes are but, you have to do more research on that if it is critical for you.
THEtvExPerT.... I too was on the fence about both bikes, but after my research this weekend and going to both stores and talking to the store personnel on these bikes We decided to go with the Norditrack. Instead of the peloton, they were only really selling the app aspect of the bike and not the bike itself. Their emphasis was solely on all the live training and blah blah about it. What we did like about it was the ability to use cycling shoes. But once we figured we could switch out them out we were sold once again.
Great review. Your saddle is a little high. Your leg extends fully and it should have a slight bend for not only performance but the wear on the knees. Just some advice.
I like many others was on the fence between this bike and the Peleton. I chose this one and got it around June 2019. I noticed when registering this bike it asked which version I had and mine was 2. I am assuming allot issues you may have read about the bike have been worked out with version 2 as I have used it allot and no issues. This bike has been great for me. I agree with your review as well especially the Bluetooth capability. Keep it up!
This looks difficult for a bike beginner in her late 70's. In recovery now, need something I'm not going to have to sell and replace. Can't leave the house, though.
The peddles moving is a product of it being a fixed gear opposed to a bike with variable gears -- you can buy fixed gear bikes that'll give you the same experience. I would suggest increasing resistance to max in order to stop the bike in an emergency.
great review! one question I have is when we are using the bike and getting up off the seat and peddling hard, the bike shakes and makes lots of creaky noises. Could this be from loose bolt???

I have this bike and it’s not bad at all, but I honestly wish I got the Peloton. I find myself more engaged during the workouts (I stream them through my tablet and use this in manual mode). The bike itself has some good features though. However mine rocks pretty bad when I am out of the saddle. I’ve tightened everything I possibly can. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Very helpful. Questions -- do you feel that the screen is far enough away from you? Also, do the classes update wirelessly from time to time or are you always seeing the same classes?
Jaime Devine hi. Screen distance is probably ok because it’s a touch screen and you need to reach it comfortably. You can connect an alternate screen via HDMI connection. Classes update when they send an upgrade. You’ll get a pop up screen that ask you if you want to upgrade from time to time.
I just got my s22i and I am finding it very difficult to navigate to what I want. For example, I know how to save a ride/workout to Favorites, but can't find a list of all my Favorites to choose from... I'd also like to know if I can search the workout library (instead of just scrolling). It took me 10 minutes just to find a Yoga workout for my wife. I love the bike, but no happy with the iFit at the moment. Any help is appreciated.
I never leave comments but I had to for the Nordictrack S22i Studio Cycle. On paper it was better than the Peloton, my wife had one but I liked the tilting/swiveling monitor and the live rides led by an instructor through cities, etc. I had to pay for shipping but got a military discount and had to assemble the bike myself. It was still cheaper than the Peloton with an extended warranty. Got the bike set up, hopped on it and the cranks made a squeaking noise. Also the monitor is mounted on a circular tube which gets inserted into the neck of the frame. I noticed if I stood up the monitor shakes, alot. I thought it needed to be tightened but it was the whole bike. I talked to support and they said that sometimes the cranks need to be broken in and can make a little noise. I didnt pay over 2000 for a bike that makes noise and a monitor that shakes. The bike is on a level floor and is very sturdy. When I talked to the sales rep they told me I had 30 days to try it and if I didnt like it I would have to pay the return shipping. I didnt like that but was fine. What my sales rep didnt tell me was the 10% restocking fee, so that the return would cost me $500 total. I never would have bought it knowing it would cost that much to return. My wife's Peloton was delivered and set up as part of the price and returns are free. If you get the Nordictrack S22i make sure you 100% love it. The classes on the Peloton are so much better as well, the outdoor rides are cool on the Nordictrack but they dont have music, just the instructor talking. I will never buy Nordictrack again, they got me once but not again. Their equipment is nice but the deceptive tactics are BS. I have the Peloton Bike + coming in a few weeks, having used my wife's I am very excited. Just beware and read the fine print so you dont get screwed like I did.
Thanks for all the info. I just purchased a NordicTrack S22I Studio Cycle and I was having a hard time setting up the machine. Can you tell me where you bought the bike cleats for the S22I and the shoes you wearing
Hey man, first off, you are great on TV lol. A natural. Questions about this...I'm a mountain biker and hate studio classes with sweaty weirdos hollering at you. But its winter and I need to stay fit. I used to go to a bike studio that had big scenic rides that were coached by on-screen overlay. So I could do intervals through the Alps without some other person yammering on...but they would pipe-up and tell us when to stand and sprint and cool down, increase resistance etc. It was a nice scenic ride...but I was getting legit power or interval coaching. Peloton has NONE of this for Scenic stuff. Does the Norictrack do COACHED, scenic rides?
Hi Steve, apologies for the delayed response and thanks for the compliment :) There are many coached scenic rides. I just did one recently which was part of Japan series (up Mount fuji interval). Enjoy.
Just walk away from Norditrack. I got a S22i and from day 1 didn't work. It's been 7 weeks already and they don't know when they will be able to fix it.. The bike itself is a great machine when it works, but their customer service and ability to fix problems is horrible. Parts are not available in their warehouse, they don't have an ETA for them and in the meantime there is nothing they can do!!! very frustrating experience.
I just got the bike. I like it. Only compliant I have so far is the seat.. does it always tilt up and down on its own? I just want it to stay in one position.
Should I go with the Nordic track or Wattbike Atom Next generation or the wahoo smart bike? is there any difference. I haven't seen any comparison videos
Quick question, I have the new version of the s22i. The monitor is a lot bigger. Anyway, my issue with this bike is the wobble by the handlebars and monitor while off the saddle. I feel I cannot give 150% effort. Did you or do you have this issue? Thank you.
Hi. I did not have wobble issue by the bars and monitor. But, when I go 150% I get creaking in the pedals and saddle. Consider tightening all nuts and bolts again. I did that with the saddle and it helped.
Im in the market for a S22i but have one major concern. I am 6'4" and my basement ceiling is 81 inches. Is this bike going to work for me? My ceiling is not finished so I do technically have more height then that but I really don't want my head between the joists.

Mate, what's the ugly??? You mentioned "The good", "the bad" and "the ugly"... If you mean the leak of BT, that's something you should have known before you got it, but it's a matter of $15.. on amazon... It's called dongle!
It’s pretty obvious that nordictrack totally boosted peloton design, but peloton app is offered on multiple platforms and you can cast to your screen without dongles or hdmi wires. I’m slightly envious on the automatic incline and decline. Nordictrack has no letter board, no community support, no live classes. It’s like just as expensive. Choose Peloton. Great customer service. They also offer scenic rides, but the instructors are so amazing that I haven’t taken advantage of this just yet. Peloton offers challenges to keep your motivation. You can high five people taking classes at same time as you which is sorta neat. You can connect via Facebook to friends on peloton. Peloton has multiple users so you can track you own physical fitness stats. Perhaps if nordictrack was like 500 bucks, might be good alternative, but it’s only slight less expensive and Peloton just does it better!!
Maria hi. this is seems normal for anything you pay $2,000 for. But, Its been over a year and I love the bike. just rode this morning Tokyo ride on Mount Fuji. Epic.
I would try the peloton first for 30 days since they offer a full refund. If you try the nordictrack first and return nordictrack charges $500 + 10% restocking fee total $700
Mine does not wobble. But, could be a few factors for others. Maybe, not tight enough, could be seat adjustment that throws off weight distribution. Could be monitor adjustments.
I could see that if they maybe have the handle bars on the lowest height and forgot to tighten the knob then it all may wobble. Mine don't wobble at all, and I assembled the bike myself. I'm not sure why they would wobble unless something didn't get tightened. I have my bars up almost at max height because of my bad back, and the whole thing is very stable.
Watched your review of the s22i and decided to go through with the purchase based off that and the couple other RU-vid reviewers. Have to say I was completely disappointed with the "white glove" assembly you have to pay for. They left most of the bolts loose and even one was not even threaded and just laying on the floor. I had to go back through and tighten all the bolts. The touchscreen is poor to respond to touch. You did comment on the stopping pedaling and the force keeps going, which I am not used to, it jerks your leg down and caused me some pulled muscle during a recent ride the 3 time I was on it. I think you need to review having to call customer service or process a return because it is the most painful thing I have had to go through. They make the 30 day return sound easy and makes it easy on the mind just in case something comes up your first 30 days.
You probably know by now, on any spin bike the pedals don't stop without using the brake. The brake on the S22i is the red knob. Use it prior to stopping. It's in the manual, read it.
Wow - never even noticed that! Not sure what it is for. Certainly looks like a camera. I gotta research. Wonder if other NordicTrack equipment have them. Going to put tape on it for now. Thanks for noticing.
@@kermicksantos3928 Cool, I wasn't sure if it was just a blemish, or an actual camera. If it has no use right now, I wonder if they are planning a feature letting you stream your own workout to the class. This would terrify me haha
I just got in my bike yesterday, I'm setting up the ifit and I was wondering do you have to login in individually to keep track of your progress info i.e. have two profiles under one login or do you have to create two different logins. Thanks in advance!
The bike actually changes angle, which I feel simulates a more realistic climb. I'm a beginner, so I haven't tried anything really steep yet. But, I like that it feels like it's more realistically climbing in addition to adding the resistance. I'm really looking forward to it with the Maps rides (I haven't tried that yet). The one negative thing about it - it does make a considerable amount of noise when it inclines/declines. So, if you're using it around anyone who is sleeping they will likely be awakened by the noise. That isn't a factor for me, thankfully!
@@smsnc93 Mine did the same thing in the front forks almost like a cracking plastic sound when going up and down. They sent a tech out to look at it. The problem is underneath the fork covers there are two knobs that should have come greased from the factory that did not. He greased the knobs and it is very quite now.
Hey Mr. Santos, I'm looking into purchasing this bike, I live in a NYC apartment, would this bike while I ride it, would make noise to my neighbor that lives in the bottom.
Bikes have “cages” where your sneaker goes in securely and latches over bitches to feel more secure it’s best to buy the cycling shoes to “clip in”. I found after 2yrs of spinning in cages my arches would be sore. Once i upgraded, I had no pain anywhere and my knees I had surgery on years ago felt better giving a better overall workout.
The power switch is on the bottom (underneath) of the bike, on the bar between the pedals and motor (Black Square Piece) at the end of the bike. You pretty much have to lay on the floor to see it. Hope this helps....
