Weakness and poor recruitment of the pelvic floor musculature can be the root cause for pelvic, low back or hip pain. It can also lead to incontinence or prolapse. Loss of pelvic floor muscle strength can also occur during pregnancy and may be problematic during the post-partum phase as well.
If you are experiencing issues relating to Pelvic floor dysfunction, we recommend booking an assessment with one of our Pelvic Physiotherapists who will conduct a thorough exam and will help you get the answers you need to start you on the road to recovery. But until then, learning some basic, generalized cues to isolate your pelvic floor musculature and begin connecting to that part of the body might be beneficial. In this video, our highly skilled Pilates instructor, will guide you through some verbal cues that you can follow along so that you may learn to recruit your pelvic floor muscles.
