Wow, what a wonderful video and such a phenomenal piece of art, breathtaking. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion and art is probably the most subjective topic in the world, however I think when a video like this gets 78 thumbs down, I really feel that the people who have thought in this way, should leave a brief explanation as to why they felt such a well put together video with beautiful art work warranted their reaction. And I don’t say this so that others can harass them, absolutely not, I would simply love to know what they felt this wonderful art or video was lacking. Any way I love your work and videos and thank you for sharing them with us

@grl02

Once you get the initial, precise sketch down it becomes a paint by numbers situation by first starting with the darkest of the dark areas and going from there. The biggest piece of advice I ever got in art school was to not look at your art too long, especially if there is a reference, because your eyes will try to look for mistakes and correct the drawing and will eventually get distorted from the original reference.
@ChiminieChimmy

Did u srsly draw that face upside down?! I'm scared
@swimmingbird243
@swimmingbird243 5 лет назад
This is actually how I was taught to draw a face or a body from reference. By turning the picture upside-down, your brain perceives the image as shapes instead of a face/body. You're able to break the image down better to see what angles are wrong. It's super helpful and I highly recommend it.
@Bludaizee3

Oh yeah when u say it like that, it actually makes a lot of sense. I had a couple art classes during my first year of graphic design and the professor used to tell us to look straight ahead and make our subject straight as well facing us directly, if that makes sense? So seeing that was impressive!

@StUCaboose
@StUCaboose 5 лет назад
I think too many people, too often, use a lack of talent as an excuse to not bother trying. Sure, being naturally talented at something can make learning it easier, but even talented people still need instruction. Talented people still need practice. All being talented does is make the process of learning less discouraging. The fact of the matter it anyone can learn something new like art. Whether your talented or not, it just takes practice and perseverance. Is everyone going to be willing to put in the mileage to get good at it? No. And that's fine. But for those who really want it, they can achieve it whether or not they're talented at it. All of my instructors in school told me if they had the choice between hiring someone who's talented but doesn't practice, or someone who's not the best but works hard to get better every day, they'd choose the hard worker ever time. Too many people use their seeming lack of talent as an excuse to not try, and it's utterly ridiculous. Every single god tier artist has gone through countless hours of practice to improve and get where they are. That's not limited to just talented people.

I don't care what other people say or think when I write this, as I am writing solely to you. It's 6:30 a.m. in Colorado USA. The sun has yet to illuminate perfectly darkened skies. My black coffee is hot. My house, so silent everything feels as if it's suspended in time. I stumbled across your channel and I am floored. Certainly you don't have time to read a novella so let me just try to say the main points. You are, hands down, one of the best drawing artist of our time I have ever seen. The depths of your black are an art in and of themselves. ( i swear you could do a large project called "Black" with nothing but your graphite dust and showcase it) But your details? They are insane. Beautiful and Emotive. Two reasons I choose this video to comment on are: 1: I work in mostly black and grays and your art speaks to me probably like no other. Second, and most importantly, the details in the robes reminds me of Caravaggio. Nobody and I mean nobody to date has been able to match watch he did with drapes and clothing. But yours.. it's getting damn near spot on. Different of course because of the coarseness of pencil versus oils but still... wow. The thing about art is, its 'greatness' is contingent upon the viewer and in this viewer's opinion I see raw beauty, pain, anguish, imaginative realism and the best goddamn use of black ever. Bravo. #thisismeshuttingupnow

I do too, I use Faber Castel pencils but the real hero is the paper. Literally editing a video now about what paper I use and how I prepare it
