I used watercolor pencils in my regenbogen by Ursula Schwab and it didn’t turn out great, I feel like none of the papers I have work for watercolor. The only watercolor pencil worked for me is in Maria trolle books. Another thing that never works for me is watercolor markers they don’t ever blend, never looks great and always bleeds through. I wish I knew which media to use with what books.
Yes many coloring books dont have great paper for watercolor pencils but i love the Japanese coloring books because they work great with watercolor pencils. For example the Eriy books. Even the english editions work great with watercolor pencils i found. You have to test the paper and experiment. For the watercolor markers use them on a plastic palette and then pick them up with a brush and use that on the paper . That will help. You can also do that with regular waterbased maerkers. For the watercolor markers to work properly you need quality watercolor paper, which we do not have in coloring books.
