I like it so much when people do not have a million fish in their tank it makes it more peaceful and you can really see the corals and the aqua scaping the picture becomes so much more harmonious I think, well done ReefBum for not going crazy on the fish. I do really like the Montipora and Stylophora right/left end of your tank, but as a landscape engineer I am work "wounded" ecstatically.

If you're bored, reset with frags. Sound to me like you love the tank. I would take your time and reset some of the bigger colonies to manageable size to avoid the shading. Little bonsai pruning.

Reset? No way! Unless adding a bigger tank that is.... Just creating work for more unknown work and possible frustration for yourself. Enjoy the pruning of corals and come up with new fun ways to garden and manicure this beautiful tank...

I think a lot of us would kill to have your "problems", lol. That tank is phenomenal. That pair of the Bill Murray and PC Rainbow is very much the goal for many of us. That said, part of keeping these wonderful animals in captivity is the need to trim them and scale them back when necessary. But you already knew that, so thank you for showing off this stunning work of living art. Unfortunately loosing that high point, will flatten the aesthetic. Where those two corals grew as the high point, is roughly the 1:1.6 golden ratio point; which is why it's such a visual focal point (besides the fact it's two stunning corals). So I don't envy your decision. But if you're going to hack it up, please have a massive frag sale? I'd also like to thank you for showcasing this tank. That peninsula in particular proved inspirational to my own tank upgrade. I very much appreciated the 72x36x20" once I saw your aquascape and coral take shape. And I decided to order the same dimensions several months back. The empty tank was put in place by the movers last week, and while it will be well over a year until it's running on my budget, I have no doubt those dimensions will be fantastic. Thank you again for the wonderful deep dives on your systems and husbandry, they've been extremely helpful and informative.

My 'reset' method in the past has basically been once a significant number of corals have reached the water surface I will take the top 1/3 the tank's growth off. I'll take the top, living part of the corals out of the tank into buckets, then go in with a brass mallet and breakup all the base coral skeleton and remove it from the tank. Then I put the top (living) layer back into the tank. Sometimes I'll put the base skeleton coral into buckets with some diluted bleach. After I rinse away the bleach (and air dry for a while) I'll use the now clean coral rock to propagate coral on, or just pop it into my calcium reactor and recycle it. I only do this remodeling at most 1/4 of the tank at once to not create too much of a disturbance in the tank.

I was in a similar conundrum. I ended up restarting 90% after I moved it. Hated how it came out first but now It’s growing on me again and i found the inspiration. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do for the sake of the reef and the sake of keeping things interesting.

I would just trim all the big ones back, bonsai thinking! You’ll just run into the same problem in a few years anyway if you fully reset

I think you could trim or replace some tabling corals with some cool stags. That would let light penetrate deeper and be a cool new look.

Your cam stream is in our living room from time to time so enjoy it!! I would be curious to see your alkalinity consumption over time. Mine is not as fast but I work full time but shocked to see it do nothing and then finally take off and keep going over year one to year three.

DO NOT touch that Cap, lol. Seriously though, to me that's the star of the show. Best of both worlds... maybe move the PC Rainbow / Bill Murray combo to the opposite end from the Cap and then create a few new bommies in between with room to add whenever the right piece and inspiration strikes.

Nitrates spiked up to 20 so I am working to get them down to the 5-10 range. Phosphates are around .03 to .04

Not running on high efficiency mode. Here are my settings. Power balance settings: 100% for all 9 channels Spectrum: • Blue - 100% • Royal Blue - 100% • Cool White - 28% • Blue White - 100% • True Green - 28% • Hyper Red - 16% • Sky White 28% • Ultraviolet - 100% • Hyperviolet - 100% Schedule: 10A 12N 8P 10P
